Welcome to Transient Rain Weyr, a Dragonriders of Pern (Alternate Universe) RPG.

Transient Rain Weyr is home to many unique dragons, riders, and creatures. The dragons know no gender bounds, the riders are eccentric, and you never know what kind of creature will show up next! If you'd like to become a part of the weyr, either as a candidate, a rider, or a resident, feel free to click the link below and join up. But beware: things that you are not used to may be lurking behind the doors of the shabby-looking weyr. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Join the Weyr!

Notes on the Weyr
Some things you should know about Transient Rain Weyr before beginning your RP.

Regarding Colors and Shield

The weyr colors for Transient are blue, brown, and white. The blue represents rain, the brown represents the earth, and the white represents hope. These colors have been with the weyr since the first weyr opened.

The Transient sheild is a blue field with a brown and white chevron on it.

Regarding Weyr Size

The building of the weyr itself is huge, having room for nearly 150 riders, not to mention living space for weyrlings, candidates, and other residents. The ballroom is large enough to invite dignitaries from Occules for formal events, to hold meetings, among other things. The underground caverns are even larger, twisting and turning. Not even the oldest residents know exactly how much space is underneath the weyr.

However, despite the size, the current population of Transient is dwindling. The weyr often seems ghostly, because there are so few riders and weyrlings about. But it gets by, and the hope is that one day it will be restored to it's former glory.

Regarding Weather

The weather cycles at Transient are geared towards a tropical setting. They have no winter, extended daylight hours (4:30 am to 11:30 pm), and are prone to storms and rain. The following is a list of the typical weather patterns during the seasons.

Winter
Coldest: 50˚F (Average; Record Low was 46˚F)
Warmest: 75˚F (Average; Record High was 87˚F)

Winter, if you can even call it that, lasts for only four weeks, and that is when the shortest daylight hours are in place. The sun rises at 6 am, and sets a 8 pm. Typically, there are very few storms during the winter months, but some areas of the Triad are prone to drought.

Spring
Coldest: 60˚F (Average; Record Low was 52˚F)
Warmest: 85˚F (Average; Record High was 93˚F)

Spring comes directly after winter, lasting for three months. The daylight hours are between 5 am and 10 pm. Typically, this is when the most storms occur at the Triad. It is not uncommon for three or four hurricanes to happen during those months. The weather is not too muggy when it is not raining.

Summer
Coldest: 80˚F (Average; Record Low was 76˚F)
Warmest: 115˚F (Average; Record High was 117˚F)

Summer is the most gruelling of times. It lasts the longest of all the seasons, for nearly 5 months. The daylight hours are the longest, from 4:30 am to 11:30 pm. The typical weather is clear, hot, and humid, with occasional thunderstorms.

Fall
Coldest: 55˚F (Average; Record Low was 52˚F)
Warmest: 85˚F (Average; Record High was 87˚F)

Fall is similar to spring, albeit a bit cooler. It lasts for three months, with the daylight hours mirroring those of Spring, lasting from 5 am to 10 pm. The typical weather is humid, with occasional storms and mostly clear days. This is the time of year when harvesting is at it's best.
