Name: Edward Bodwine
Appearance:
His dark green hair flows down to the back of his neck and no more, his black eyes are said to be holding criticism as he looks at others, and his overall face is scratch less, all due to his sneaking around and being careful of course. His clothes are blue and black and consisting of normal pants, hiking boots, gloves, a muffler over his shirt, along with a white scarf for heavy storms, he is used to cold weather due to the mountains, but still wears these clothes in a protective fashion.
Class: Thief
Race: Human
Equipment and weapons:
Dagger: a curved blade used for stabbing and slowly killing targets, Edwards daggers have varied over the years during different fights, but he has always used one, no matter the occasion, which is why he dislikes swords and heavier weaponry and is best spoken in his words “It lacks speed, and only a buffoon would value power over speed” .
Crossbow: a small contraption to fire arrows, fairly new on the market, at least for him and however due to his Allioqiun birth place, he seems fascinated with the creation and uses it to set off traps or to take out prey and targets with it from afar.
Ruby of Desires: A curious item and nothing more to Edward, but it’s powers are special and even he, who holds it, does not know what it does, and the few mages he’s encountered have turned on him to try and take it away, I guess stealing doesn’t always when you grab something to important, and to valuable to the unknown eye.
Age: 23 Height: 5’5” feet Weight: 120 lbs Body Frame: Athletic Build Gender: Male Day of Birth: November 24th Blood Type: O Natural Hair Color: Dark Green Natural Eye Color: Black Alignment: Neutral
Hobbies: Stealing - Always up for doing some work for someone else and getting paid for it. Killing - Assassinations? Heh, that’s going to cost extra. Conversing - What? Do you think all thieves are just quiet bottom dwellers with no intellect?
Likes: Fruits Animals Money
Dislikes: Ignorant People Noisy companions Heavy weapons
Personality: Edward has two personas. The First, a happy go lucky thief, who is willing to do anything for money and enjoy it, whether it involves fighting or not, and is happy to even work alongside someone, so long as they don’t screw up any plans for the job. The Second, is more of a peaceful side, where he enjoys talking and making friends, learning any information he can of his location, and overall, he enjoys himself, that is till he gets a job.
Bio: Edward was born in a small town southwest of Aspetto, it was just a farming town, and fairly new to the world, and it was his and his parents home, they were the first couple in the town as a matter of fact, so his birth led to a great celebration of their farm town. Then as he aged, things became to look glum, the crops were dying since they were so close to the ocean and they suspected the air or the sea water was affecting it the most, and lots of the townsfolk decided to leave, however, Edward and his family stayed. While everyone else was in depression or denial, Edward was growing into a great young boy, at five he had already learned most farming techniques from his father and learned how to cook all kinds of things from his mother, he was a quick learner. Then at age eight, things turned into something, no one suspected, The army of one of the nobles in Allioqiun, not sure what city specifically they came from, came and took shelter in the farmlands of his home. However, they were not evil men, nor men of greed, they came for the sole purpose of hiding, since the noble had ordered them to hide him here, and they had agreed.
This of course led to many things, certain rules, such as a curfew at dusk and that children, specifically Edward, were not allowed to play outside, however there was still hope, the man that was staying in the Bodwines house was a kind and quiet man, who silently took Edward under his wing. His name was Cudbert and he taught Edward as much as he could teach a child in two years, he taught the boy swordsmanship, thought after a few months they decided his body was better suited for a knife or dagger of some sort. He trained him in defensive techniques, though the boy preferred to show off his nimbleness and dodge the attacks, he was unique in Cudberts eyes, he learned what he was taught, but the boy used it to his own advantage and developed fighting skills better suited for him. However the end of their training was abrupt after the two years that he had made the child into a skilled fighter, when the house shook above after they trained. They rushed upstairs to see the house blown away, leaving not even a piece of his mother and father left, then they saw it, archers, as many as you could imagine were there, shooting down the houses and the mercenaries that worked under the noble that had taken residence there.
Cudbert knew his chances were slim, but he decided against his own will to fight and do what he could, instead he took Edward and made a break for it, rushing as fast as he could, away from the arrows and towards the sea. It was the only way out, if he could not escape, he would rather let the child drowned then let him die a gruesome death, but things changed when he was shot by of the high ranking archers in the group. Although they had easily seen Cudbert and shot him down as he had entered the water, they had not seen the boy in his arms, and Cudbert forced the boy into the water, and told him to swim north, it was the only way out for the boy. Naturally, the boy took flight through the water, shedding tears into the ocean as he swam as fast as he could, hours passed, maybe even a full day, the sky was getting dark for the second time and he was tired, he has swam on endurance and agony for far to long. What he did not know was that he crossed the border into Gellieith territory and so began his real journey, he was picked up, unconscious, by a docking group full of merchants that harvested things from the sea.
He awoke to an auction, where he was the one being sold, to be used for whatever desires the buyer had, he saw them call out numbers of gold and people responded calling out more and commenting on his look and how they’ve always wanted a little boy traveling with them. It made him feel as though he should run, and he did try, he flipped out the chains with his acrobatics, making the crowd ‘OOOOoooo” and “Woah!” at his performance. Obviously after his flip they raised his price but he had no intention of staying, with another flip, he got off the stage and took off through the crowd, only to feel pain on his neck and was pulled back. The crowd laughed and he noticed the chain and leather strap over his neck, it was so closed around his neck that he couldn’t speak and he watched in horror as women who gave him dirty looks and men with greedy fingers raised the price even more. He closed his eyes and then heard a beautiful voice, one of a woman, and she was the one he was sold too, he feared that she would hurt him, or use him for something he wished not to do, but instead, she was kind.
Her name was Athelyna and she was far more kind then he could have ever imagined, she took off his collar and chains, freeing him and gave him a journal and a pen so that he could write down future events and so he did, the following passages are from his journal.
Spoiler: click to toggle First Entry:
This is my first entry, I’ve never really cared for this thing when I was first bought, but now at thirteen, well it’s useful, I think I’ll record everything I do in here. Life here is, to say the least, dull, all these greedy merchants scour the lands for something to sell or buy, and the only decent human being I’ve met here is Athelyna. She’s taken good care of me so far, fed me, kept me clothed, and we go around rescuing other children that are about to be bought. She also says that the reason why she has so much money is because here parents were and they passes away, and she didn’t want to use the money on herself, so she decided to help people. Anyway, life is going good for me here in Gellieith, and it seems our small caravan is headed for a big town called Corlus and it sounds like it will be fun, I don’t know when I’ll write again, but at least I had fun writing this.
Second Entry: *Tear drops litter the page*
No……No…..NO!!! How could I let this happen….after a few months of moving we made our way to Corlus but….but all be dammed ! Athelyna and the rest of the caravan have perished, it seems Corlus was attacked by some vicious savages, they called themselves warriors, from a place called Iaeten …..they left the city after only killing two of the guards…but they attacked our caravan! Everyone died, I seemed to survive solely on my balance and agility, since it seemed they were to much brawn and to little of brain to actually aim. If only I had been stronger, more lethal, maybe I could have fended them off, but the thing I do know is, that they will pay, I will strike my revenge upon not just those rogues, but there entire Village!
Third Entry:
It’s been quite a few years now…I didn’t really feel the need to write here after the events, even this journal brings back bad memories of the past, I’ll try not to re-read what I wrote before, as it could hurt my soon to be resolve. You see, since my last entry, I have been training with the Corlus guard, teaching them all the arts my master had taught me, and I also learned to increase my skills with daggers, no more will I do petty parlor tricks, I will aim to kill those that attack me and the ones I care for. I am now Nineteen, and for the first time in my life, and the soldiers of Corlus, we are ready to destroy Iaeten. We will be moving under the command of the head of the soldiers and the merchants that control the town, and we will succeed, we have trained for this day, and nothing shall stop me from taking my revenge.
Fourth Entry:
Let the demon be dammed!!! We arrived in Iaeten, the platoon of forty knights, and myself, the hired mercenaries would pay for this day, the head knight, Aeduin, ordered us to approach, and to kill everything in our path. It seemed it was the will of the merchants that had hired Aeduin in the first place to put this order on him, no matter, I did not care, they could kill whoever they wanted, I was only interested in the bandits, that was my goal, nothing more. The killing started, women and children screamed as the idiots poured from the houses, spewing nonsense as we cut them down with ease, though numbers were lost the platoon of forty was cut in half, leaving only twenty of us, including Aeduin and myself. I was fairly impressed with the leader of the knight, Aeduin was another quick learner, and he had learned most of the sword techniques from me, and now he dual wielded swords instead of gripping one with both hands. It made his skills intensify, and then it all went bad, the twenty of us, had secured a foothold halfway through the town, merchants and bandits lay dead everywhere, and then…that idiot made the worst mistake any man could make, and then the demon came. Aeduin had rushed forward, and a child was in his way, he cried to him to leave his father out of this, but Aeduin pushed him out of the way, still the child held to his boot while we fought other mercenaries and lost two more of our force.
He turned, and then time seemed to stand still for me in that moment, he flipped his blades in his hands and stabbed down, killing the child with remorse, and I felt a tremble that I would never want to feel again. He appeared, the one that shook my entire body, he looked as if he were a holy knight on duty, but my feelings were attuned to his attitude as he ran for Aeduin, and then the idiots did something even worse. They slaughtered more of the children and even started killing the women, the bandits themselves were far gone long and the knights had lost the true reason they came here, and then it felt like my heart exploded when I heard his muffled scream. It was Aeduin, naturally we all turned our attention to him and the beast was there, he didn’t stand to look at us, he was already running for one of the knights closest to him. He screamed, trying to run but was struck by down the shield, the remaining knights banded together against the demon, he looked like something from a horror story, his armor seemed old and not cleaned, and his shields looked more vicious then if he had blades in his hands.
Things were so fast that I really couldn’t understand it all, the man seemed as if he were dancing, yet he utterly destroyed the knights, he knocked one down, quickly turning his shield downward while he blocked a sword with the other, his shield aimed at the downed knight suck into the mans flesh and killed him almost instantly. More and more, the knights fell as if the demon was a breeze and they were uneasy standing sticks, ready to fall, then only three knights remained, realizing they should have never gotten involved in this mission, and one took off. The other two rushed the monster, and failed easily, getting their throats slit as he started to rush after the last remaining knight but stopped, and I was surrounded by corpses of children and knights, all who died such a cruel death. The remaining knight thought he was clear from death, turning his head back to glance at the killer, only for it to be his last sight, as he was beheaded by the shield from a quick throw. The killer shuffled over to his shield, which had impaled to the wall, blood still dripped off the edges as he merely walked off, as if he had witnessed something he did not want to.
I left, terrified, that if this demon lurks further into other towns, then the world would be done for, and I took off as quick as I could, and I will not write again, for I fear this could be the end of me, and worst of all, his image still lurks in my mind, killing all those around me but not myself, I always stay alive after the dream.
Fifth Entry:
Guess my last entry wasn’t true, I decided to write again, this time of the time that’s past, I’ve gotten over her death, yes, you should know if you’ve read this who I speak of , and I am now twenty three, and my job is to steal. After the Corlus incident I headed east, away from the merchants and those barbarians, and away from the place I was born in, and ended up in the mountains between Valus and Levant, other thieves and rogues lived along the mountain and I too settled there. I started getting business offers, and honestly, I needed the money to survive, so I took them, naturally as I progressed and gained infamy, the jobs grew more dangerous and crazy, but I liked that. My skills were finally pushed to their limits on the day that I found the ruby , it was mesmerizing, and guarded well, however, the mans effort wasn’t strong enough for him to win and I arose victorious, heading off for the mountains again. Then I was targeted by odd men called ‘magicians’ something of magic was involved and they all tried to get the ruby, however none of them succeeded and yet again, I won. Years have passed, and now here I am, fit as any man could be and still enjoying my job unlike most people, although I wonder what’s in store for me….glory? Fame? Power? I don’t know. What I do know is what I heard from a small pupil from a sorcerer in Belmoth, he told me that the paladins in Valus know of this jewel I posses and are planning on getting someone to get it from me, naturally, I do not wish to get my hands dirty, nor have an army of powerful paladins sending skilled trackers out for me, I will head out today in search of these paladins and plea that they let me keep my life in order to obtain the jewel, and if they do not comply, then I shall take protective measures to keep myself alive.
*end of fifth entry, the remaining pages are left blank*
