OK so I have this knocking sound coming from the bottom of the engine, the culprit is most likely a spun rod bearing, but I should have it confirmed by tomorrow. I don't have the knowledge/space/tools to repair/rebuild myself so I have gotten a few quotes and thought Id see what option you guys would go with! 1) Re Manufactured $3950 Engine + $1500 Labor + Tax = $6158.00 3yr/60,000 km Warranty 2) Re Build + New Plugs/coils inc Labor $3400 + Tax= #3842.00 1yr/30,000 km Warranty 3) Used (128,000km/79,535 mi) $900 + Tax= $1017.00 Lifetime warranty. First claim new used engine plus $50 p/h towards labor further claims just a new used engine. This option does not include engine swap labor so add on another $1000-$1500 to the initial cost. Keeping in mind I drive around 40-50K per year option 1 will only buy me 1 1/2 year warranty and option 2 will get me under a year. I plan on keeping the truck for at least 3 more years, so yeah that's where I stand. Now best case scenario they will only need to replace the bearings and maybe the main rod, but either way I need to get this fixed as Public Transportation Sucks |
