A call to action: Help save Newcastle United As of today we have Nick Brown regional minister for the North East calling for the head of Mike Ashley . (read story http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-news//tm_headline=north-east-minister-nick-brown-tells-mike-ashley-to-quit-nufc&method=full&objectid=24337774&siteid=61634-name_page.html) For this we have NUSC ( http://www.nusc.org.uk/home.php ) to thank. We urge you to join today if you haven't already. Boycotting Sports Direct has worked, but the time has come to do more than curse Mike Ashley's name. We must proceed in a dignified orderly fashion and submit our complaints to the FA so they may step in. As supporters we have to enlist the one body in the UK that is charged with the running of football. As supporters we have to tell them, in clear concise words why they need to stop the rot, and keep it from happening again. Press the buttons that work, use the tools that are made available to us. Here are the points you should focus on: 1- Ashley is bringing football into disrepute 2- He is almost assuredly violating one kind or another transfer policy 3- He is going above and beyond the call of duty to destroy any value left in the club. This is also known as asset stripping. 4- The alleged offers for the club seem to come and go with amazing regularity, depending on how close he seems to getting a higher offer. On this point we need the same kinds of regulations as govern the sale of homes If the FA step in , we want them to do the following 1- Force the current ownership to name a manager 2- Allow the manager transfers in and out 3- Allow the manager to organise the season, as it's here as of Saturday. 4- GET A REALISTIC ASSESSMENT OF THE OFFERS , GET MIKE ASHLEY TO PICK ONE AND LEAVE. 5. Organize an inquiry to find out how things got so out of hand, and suggest reforms to insure it never happens again. Address letters and phone calls to the FA Customer Relations The Football Association 25 Soho Square London W1D 4FA Tel: 020 7745 4545 (Mon-Fri, 9.15am - 5.00pm) The FA also has set up a 'whistleblower' telephone line for football participants to provide information in relation to potential problems with the transfer market and the financial side of football generally. Callers will be able to provide information anonymously if they wish and will be able to speak confidentially. Tel: 0844 980 8218 (calls charged at 3p per minute) Time to put an end to the madness, write or call the FA and Join NUSC (http://www.nusc.org.uk/home.php). KEEP US FROM GOING DOWN THE ROAD OF LEEDS UNITED respond here please : http://s1.zetaboards.com/ToonArmy/topic/2096960/1/#new Edited by Scurvy Toon, Aug 8 2009, 09:42 AM.
