Are Thorman's days as a Brave numbered?

From Bill Shanks:

Sources have told The Braves Show.com that a trade involving Scott Thorman this spring is very possible. The Braves are considering their other options for first base, including Mark Kotsay (28 games in his career), Brayan Pena (22 games at first in AAA last season), Matt Diaz (2 games there last year), and Joe Borchard (1 game). Thorman is out of options, so the Braves are having to make a decision on him. Pena is also out of options, but with his time at first and his ability to be a third catcher he could have more value than Thorman. What could the Braves get for Thorman? Maybe a reliever?

TexasBrave, they are shopping Thorman (and a few others) for relief help. Too early to know who’d be the backup 1B if they get rid of Thorman, since this is a puzzle that has to be assembled over the next three weeks. But I wouldn’t look for Kotsay to be playing 1B, and I don’t get a feeling that Pena is going to be on this team. Could be wrong, but I don’t see it happening for Pena here.

OMG. I wonder if Flowers has made that much of impression that they would trade Thorman and Pena. Flowers is both a 1B/C or send him back to get more seasoning. Javy has played 1B also along with catcher.

This should be an interesting development over the next few days and weeks. Let's keep our eyes on this one folks. Any breaking news on it, let's get it posted ASAP.

Yeah. With Teix, he plays nearly every game, Thor doesn't get much of a chance to play. If we do trade him, then I would be for just having Javy be the backup 1b and C. It makes no sense to waste a roster spot on just a backup 1b when they arent going to get to play any.

Yeah, it wouldn't hurt to let Thorman go at this point. Would be better for the Braves and Thorman's career. I love his hustle and defense but his plate presence is awful.

I would love to see both of them go bye bye. Thorman's hustle and heart for the game is good but not good enough for me. Pena well He cant throw anyone out does not have a very good arm to throw people out at 2nd.

I would think he's almost done with the Braves. We took a few hits in the pen this year. Him and Pena for a guy like CJ Wilson, Craig Hanson, or another young hard throwing reliever would be good. I wouldn't be surprised to see Blaine Boyer go with them, but I would hope not.

Pena is the worst defensive catcher Atlanta has had in a long while. He can't call a game to save his life.
