I'm nervous about what's going to happen. But it's been a good run. I wish they'd written Apollo better, they themselves admitted they had a hard time figuring out what to do with him, which is kind of stupid and shows a real lack of planning on their parts that one of the 5 main characters, they just couldn't figure out what to do with half the time. But otherwise it was a show that wasn't afraid to be suicidally depressing, it had alot of really top notch acting, the characters were all imperfect.

I think they had a specific function for Lee in mind, but then in execution they never managed to create a decent through line for the character. I love Lee! I hope he survives, becomes the President of Humanity and find them a little planet they could call home.

I think i'll wait for the whole half season and they go through marathon. I'm kinda scary to see what they'll do wtih Lee and KaLee. I'm shallow and want those 2 together. They were a reason i was hooked up and lack of their interaction was a reason i drifted off.

Paradiso Posts: 4,498 Group: Paradiso Member #19 Joined: Mar 16, 2009	Me too. Aside from being a fan of Jamie Bamber, I genuinely LIKED Kara and Lee's interaction, right from the start. They clearly cast them based partly on their chemistry with each other. I don't even mean that in a shippy way but even as friends and colleagues. Yet they basically stopped having them interact regularly about half way through Season 2 and that was it. A few episodes ago, during the mutiny, Kara and Lee worked together to help free the prisoners and take back the ship and it was brilliant, they are GREAT together. They really balance out each other's strengths and weaknesses when they work as a team. Yet I think Moore got so into his daring "Starbuck who is now a woman instead of a man"(not that I feel that was a bad thing I think they did a great job with Starbuck, Roslin, Athena, a number of the Sixes, even Deanna--these were rounded complex imperfect characters, not just "token" females) but I think it was a case of a "showrunner falling too much in love with a character" and as a result he just kind forgot all about Lee. Jamie Bamber is a real class act considering how often he was shoved aside on that show for the benefit of whoever the writers current golden child was(like Anders, I mean I like Anders well enough but come on! Or Helo, I have a feeling alot of the "moral" stuff that Helo ended up getting would have gone to Lee originally). But he's never been anything but grateful and really talked up the show in a very positive way, even when mentioning the lack of direction for his character. Even now, from what I understand, they may have re-written part of Lee's and Kara's endings based on the fact that Michael Trucco had a serious accident(he broke his neck a little over a year ago, made a full recovery) and so they were feeling all sentimental and wanted to show their appreciation for him. So it sounds like Lee probably ended up getting shoved aside again, even in the finale.

I know i'm a fan of Jamie myself he's an awesome actor and i love to see him as Lee but you're right - after the middle of S2 the show was drifted to cylon-social drama territory more and more which forced me to like it the less and less. I still love both Kara and Lee and Tigh of course but i lost connection to the show itself sigh I still have friends who really excited about all BSG related stuff but i don't and i'm almost sure i won't watch Caprica. But anyway i just think that Moore doesn't know how to write right characters in r-ship to not look soapy so he pushed it away and took what was easier for him to tell - social themes and questions. I don't say it wasn't important but for me it's boring, you know.

I was a little let down but I don't think there was anything wrist slitting worthy and it was generally balanced and not unhopeful. Edited by ventress, Mar 21 2009, 02:50 PM.

But I'm actually just about to watch now so never mind. LOL! Also re: KaLee! I totally lost interest in them as a couple when they cheated on their SOs so yeah, I like them individually but I think they're kind of toxic together. MV of course.

I think I'm not spoiling anything by saying that Roslin does pass away in the end but it's not a bad end for "humanity" at all. I never wanted Kara and Lee to be a couple I just wanted them to be friends and to interact on cooperative level because they really did have good chemistry when they did that, they had a ying and yang.

But I was getting a little antsy by the end. Spoiler: click to toggle The raid on the cylon ship was fracking awesome though. I also thought Kara's Dad was Daniel (13) but they never actually said that in the finale did they? Or did I miss that at some point? And if that's the case, wouldn't she be just like Hera and the actual first human/cylon hybrid? But in any case, why would she disappear at the end? That's why I was thinking she was some kind of Christ figure sent to lead them to Earth. Spoiler: click to toggle Clearly I am being way to literal today. LOL!

RDM specifically said Daniel was just meant to give insight in Cavil, it wasn't meant to be this big mystery about him being Kara's dad. I guess Kara's dad was like the HeadSix and HeadBaltar(by the way I laughed out loud when HeadSix and HeadBaltar appeared to Baltar and Caprica at the same time and they said to each other in unison "You see them too":) ). They never really explained it. I felt really bad for Lee. Here it is they made to habitable world and the two people he loved most basically abandoned him in the matter of one minute. I actually prefer his hair longer, reminds me of Archie. It was nice to see him in "natural" light, you can really see how blue his eyes are. But I still felt really bad for Lee. He deserved better than to completely alone.

Spoiler: click to toggle There's something nice about the idea that the cycle continues even if humans do screw it all up again. But yeah ventress I agree that it was sad that Lee ended up all alone. I don't really know why they went in that direction with his character. But he didn't seem to fussed about it either. What did you make of that? Also for some reason the spoiler thing isn't one of the main BB buttons but if you click "Full BBCode List then there are all sorts of other things you can do to play around with the text. Anyway the spoiler code is the same as html tags. OK for some reason this program deletes the tags when they are not being used but it's [spoiler ] text here [/spoiler ] but without the spaces inside the square brackets. At least it was my view on him. As soon as r-ship between interesting characters he back down and goes 'all politics'. I hate politics so i'm mad at Ron sigh

Well I'm sure Moore would say that Lee wasn't fussed about it because he accepted letting go of those he cared about and now he was free to just be himself, etc, etc but honestly he probably wasn't fussed about it purely as a plot device to say "See, he's fine with it. Okay, next character." I think it makes the other characters look pretty bad, particularly his father, who was never there for him at all growing up, they seemed to really move forward in their relationship and yet...there Adama goes off again. I mean I get that he's mourning Roslin but this is his child, grown up or not. Kara, well I guess she was really just some sort of spiritual residue as it was, so I can't really blame her if that's the case and it does say something that the last person she wanted to be with before she moved on was Lee. I didn't ship them but in their good moments there was this smile that she only used with Lee, it's hard to explain, but I figure that shows despite how frakked up their relationship was and the pain they caused themselves and others, there was still a special bond between them and so it makes sense she'd spend her last moments "on earth" with him. But it still sucks, at least everyone else who got to earth with their loved ones seemed to get to be with them, he on the other hand had them say "Hey nice knowing ya, sayonara!" and in one minute's time, lost them.
