Dragon’s Chance Chapter one: Rolf and Sarisa… A man was walking through the forest. He was white, about five foot three, dressed in black pants and a blue shirt. He had a sword strapped to his belt, along with a pouch slung over his back. The bag, he knew, was a portable Bag of Holding. He had several items in it. It contained: Four sapphires, ten emeralds, seven rubies, six diamonds, two amethysts, Seven Dwarfs (because you never know when your going to need a midget), Roughly a hundred dead cows, a spare change of clothes, around seven swords, three spears, four axes, one bow, two quivers full of arrows, ten throwing daggers, and lastly one Giga-Amethyst. The man is an assassin, not on a business trip, but on a personal one. He pulled out a letter he had received a week ago. It reminded him of his duty: To obtain the Dragon Amulet, a legendary artifact. The man smiled as he read the letter. “This will make going back to that town well worth it.” He thought with a grim smile. This assassin’s name…is Rolf. And he is about to embark on a journey he never thought he’d have to go on. Rolf looked around. His destination is the town of Elfron, He knew that at that town, he was wanted, but he knew that that was the only place he was going to get the Dragon Amulet. He knew that, if he went through the forest, he’d get to there quicker than normal, and it would protect him from the town guards. So he went through the forest. He was walking through the forest, when he heard a loud “ROAR!!!!” Rolf slowly turned around, pulling out his sword as he did so. “DRAGON!!!!!” He yelled. The dragon spoke in his mind. “Lunch?” Rolf looked terrified. He knew he couldn’t beat this magnificent, three hundred foot white dragon. He pulled out the dead cows, “Lunch.” He said with a small squeak in his voice. The dragon ate all the cows in one gulp. “Appetizer.” She said. Rolf pulled out the dwarfs, they were ready to serve him, but instead they got served to a dragon. “Lunch?” He said, hoping that might have turned her away. The dragon looked at him. “Yes,” The dragon replied, “You.” Right before Rolf fainted, he thought he saw a smile on the dragons face. When Rolf woke up, he saw the face of a woman. “Huh? Who are you?” He asked, dazed. “I’m the dragon, stupid human.” She responded. Rolf looked at the woman. “What is your name, then, dragon?” The woman/dragon said, “For now, I will call you Pet, and you will call me nothing. You will just do as your asked.” Rolf dang near fainted at what the woman told him. “But, I have a name, it’s-” “SILENCE HUMAN.” She interrupted. “I CARE NOT FOR YOUR NAME!” Rolf then had an idea. Slowly, he pulled each and everyone of his gems, including his Giga-gem. He said, “If I give you these, will you let me go?” He said, knowing that dragons love Gems. “NO! But I will let you go to your destination, with me close behind, pet.” “Okay, my name is Rolf.” “And mine is Sarisa.” They then set out on the road, and Sarisa gets a feeling that says, “Something is about to happen.” Rolf and Sarisa are both headed toward the town. “Human, why do you wish to go to this town?” Sarisa asked. “Because it holds the Dragon Amulet, a Artifact that I long for.” They traveled quite some ways, and then an arrow struck Rolf. “AGH!” He yelled out in pain. “HUMAN!” Sarisa yelled. She turned toward the group that had shot him. It consisted of an Archer, a Wizard, a Dragoon, a Myrmidon, and a Mystic Knight. In a flash, Sarisa turned into a dragon and ate the archer. She aimed a Breath at the mystic knight, and killed him. “HUMANS!!! FEAR THE WRATH OF A DRAGON!” She said. She wasn’t very happy. She began to aim a Breath at the three remaining people, but next thing she knew, The Myrmidon was on the floor, dead. She turns and she sees Rolf. He had out one of his swords, clearly ticked. “THAT is for ambushing me!” He then flips over and kills the Dragoon. The wizard places a spell on Sarisa. “You will only be able to change into a dragon once every three weeks.” The wizard said. Then he gets hit five times in rapid succession. “YOU JERK!” Rolf said, nothing but ticked. “Heh…. I may be dying, but nothing can compare to the Spell I’ve put on you. It is, as far as I know, a permanent spell.” Rolf looked at the man, a vicious fire in his eyes. “GRAH!! YOU’LL PAY FOR THAT!!!” The wizard responded, quite kindly, “But I already have…this is my punishment…Being controlled by that…URK! Quick, there isn’t much time…find the dragon rider Caro…I wish I could do something to help you…Dragon Warriors…” With that, the wizard died. “Rolf! Some of the magic! It’s fading!” Sarisa said, happy. “Yeah, but …I’m no mage, but something tells me now…only in battle…which is actually better!” Rolf said, with a smile on his face. “I suppose you ARE right. But do you think that Caro is in our destination?” Sarisa said, hoping Caro was. Rolf started walking down the road. “Maybe, but what if the wizard was lying?” “I could tell he wasn’t, human. I could easily tell if he was telling the truth…except about the dragon warrior thing. When I tried to tell if he was telling the truth, my brain got all foggy like.” Sarisa said, walking down the road with him. “Well, dragons aren’t perfect. Besides, if we do this…you never know. Perhaps we are the Dragon warriors.” Rolf said in a confident tone. “Human, do you even know who the Dragon Warriors ARE?” Sarisa said. When Rolf shook his head, she sighed. “That figures. Not every species knows of this particular prophecy. Some dragons say that, when the world is at the verge of ending, six warriors will appear, and save the world from ultimate destruction. It’s a lot of knowledge for you to learn, but still, it should be useful.” Sarisa said, confident that her knowing has helped someone. “So we are the saviors of the world. It’s pretty obvious that this Caro guy is another one of us as well. This has turned into something MUCH more that you trying to kill me, or me trying to acquire my Amulet. Speaking of which, we are nearing the town.” Rolf said, happy that the world was depending on him. “Hmmmm. The human actually said a mouthful.” Sarisa said. “HEY! Don’t make fun of me! YOU’RE the one trapped as a human! Speaking of that, you’re going to need to learn how to fight.” Rolf said. “Why do that when I can change into a dragon in battle? Besides, human combat is for the weak.” Sarisa said, partway shuddering. Her wielding a sword…scary thought to her. “Because some enemies can’t be affected by dragons. As a matter of fact, nowadays hardly anything is affected by them.” Rolf said, hoping that his lie would convince her. However, she was caught off guard, and agreed to the idea. “Fine then, human. But what shall I learn as fighting?” Sarisa said, hoping that it wouldn’t involve too much swinging. “Well…Since you’re a dragon…you do have a natural flow of magic…but it doesn’t cause much…I’ve got it! You can be a mystic knight! Here, let me get you a sword.” Rolf finds a sword, and tosses it to Sarisa. “Focus all of your magical energy, and picture a flame enveloping your sword.” Sarisa does so; only she pictures columns of flames. The next thing she sees, a MASSIVE flame appears on her blade. Rolf’s eyes go wide in shock. “DANG!!!! You caused your sword to be imbued with Firaga, not Fire.” Rolf said. “How did you do that?” “Well, it was easy. Dragons, as you said, have a natural flow towards magic. Therefore, the spells are upped.” Sarisa’s eyes narrow, and in a flash, the flame leapt from her sword, and went crashing into a tree, incinerating it, and killing and barbecuing a boar. “WHATCHA do that for?” Rolf said, Already eating the boar. “Simple. You where getting hungry.” Sarisa responded, yet again heavy sarcasm in her voice. “Don’t you pay attention when you get hungry?” Sarisa said. “Yes, but I wasn’t on the brink of starvation either. Now we have enough food to last me a week!” Rolf said, putting the boar in his bag of holding. “…Speaking of food human, I, as a dragon, have a much larger stomach, thusly, more food needs.” Sarisa said, a roar from her belly giving her the need to talk. “Don’t worry, I can pick something up. We’re in the town, by the way.” Rolf said, walking. “Sheathe your sword; it’s impolite to look like a barbarian.” He said, smirking. When they arrive in town, Rolf immediately speeds off, But not without saying what Sarisa needed to do. “Find Caro, I’ll be in the pub, say fireman if you need anything.” “ALRIGHT!” She yelled after him. She then started looking around. “Where is that Dragon Rider?” Sarisa said to herself. “Excuse me Miss Lady, but did you say Dragon Rider?” A little boy asked. He didn’t wait for an answer. “I know where he is! Follow me!” Sarisa follows the boy, and eventually they come to a dark alleyway. The little boy turns around. “Mind if I ask you a couple of questions?” The boy said, slowly reaching into his coat. “Not really.” Sarisa said with a gleam in her eye. “Good…Now…What do you do when you’re caught…IN A TRAP!” The little boy screeched. “GET THE WARRIOR!” He yelled, quickly changing into a man mage. Sarisa had little time to react, before she was hit by a dragons bane loaded sword, and her world went black. “Let’s take her to the Duke.” The mage said to his clan members. “I’m sure she’ll fetch a pretty gil alone.” “WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING TO DO TO ME?” Sarisa screamed, panic rising over her. “I just explained it to you, GIRL! We are going to sell you, and you will be tortured. That is all I know of my duke’s plans. But rumor is, he’s looking for a dragon to become under his control.” End Chapter one…. Chapter two: Rolf and Caro…. In the pub, Rolf is there, talking to a man. The man has gray hair, and green, intellectual eyes. He wears a red shirt, with blue pants. There is a green cape fastened to him, along with a sky blue shield. Rolf noticed the man a while ago, just as he finished his business. He now has his beloved Dragon Amulet. The amulet’s chain is pure obsidian. The stone that is attached to it, however, is a sphere shaped thing. It has all colors just swirling around it from Red to black to white to silver to gold. “That is a mighty fine amulet you’ve got there. Almost as nice as mine.” The man pulls out an amulet of his own. It’s a gold dragon with wings covering a red orb. Once Rolf saw it, he knew immediately that this man was the one they were looking for. “Excuse me sir, but it appears you are a dragon rider, correct?” The man looked at him. He knew he had better tell the truth. “Yes, I am a dragon rider. My name is Caro.” With that, Caro got pulled out of the town with Rolf. “UNHAND ME!” Caro said with fury in his eyes. “Look, we’ve got a lot of work to do, so I’ll make this short. You are a legendary warrior in a prophecy, and I am one as well. Help me out.” Rolf said, talking decently fast. “I do not deny your words, but I cannot accept them. I will travel with you to see if you are right. May I have your name?” The dragon rider inquired. “My name is-“ Rolf was cut short as an arrow whistled past his neck. “STOP CRIMINAL!!! You are wanted on accounts of thirteen assassinations! You are to be put to death instantaneously!” Said a guard archer. “Heh. If you can, come at me! Put me to Death!” Rolf jeered. “YOURE A WANTED ASSASSIN?!?!” Caro screamed at the top of his voice. Rolf smirked. “Oh, yeah, did I neglect to mention that?” He said as he dodged some arrows. “ROLF! DIE!” The guards summons several other guards. “GRAYHA!” The guards pull out various weapons. It is apparent that the guards are various classes. Caro can see that there are around fourteen guards. “…He’s not going to be able to fight them all by himself…” With that, Caro pulled out a sword, and swipe-dashes at a guard. “You would fight against us, and thusly help this criminal? Then it is clear you are to be put to death as well.” The guard blocked his blow, and followed up with one of his own. Caro barely managed to block the guard’s blow, but he did. “Then so be it! If you try to kill him, you doom the world!” He screeched, realizing that Rolf must have been right. He lunged with his sword, striking him clear in the neck. “Fool’s words. You’re just trying to cover for him.” Another guard said, striking Caro in the back with a fireball spell. Caro blocked it with his sword, spun around, and submerses the guy in flames. “BRESINGA!” Caro yelled, using the ancient dragon word for fire, toasting some guards. Meanwhile, Rolf has killed seven guards. “Why is he helping me? This is my own personal business, not his.” But, then again, he thought, the help is appreciated. He quickly jumped over to help Caro, and he stroke a guy clean in half. “Why aren’t you killing them more?” Rolf said, a grin on his face. “HEY! I don’t kill PEOPLE for money!” Caro said in protest. Then, several guards rush at them. “Don’t worry! I got this.” Rolf said with a smirk. It’s time to use my new toy, he thought. He then stands up, and holds his hand over his amulet. He then lifts his hand, and calls out to the heavens. “Ancient Power, Flow forth! Dragon amulet, let loose a bit of your power! Blackver dragon wings!” Once he finishes speaking, he gets covered in a sphere of light. Once he emerges, he has Black dragon wings, with silver stripes fanned out on them. Caro looked at him with wide eyes. “HOLY CRAP!” He said. The guy just grew wings out of nowhere! But then, he realized that Rolf had had his hand on his amulet. Rolf then came crashing down on the guard, blade drawn. Caro looked at the devastation that happened. "H-how did you do that?" Caro said. He was really surprised. Rolf looked at Caro, amused. “It is a very simple procedure, actually. All I do is hold my hand over the amulet and mutter some words. The Amulet does the hard part." He stuffed his amulet in his shirt. “We can't go in there, considering we are outlaws. We have to go aroun--" he stopped mid-sentence and knelt on the ground. "S-Sarisa! I-is that you?!" He said. “Yes, Human. It’s me. I have been captured, and I don’t have much strength. I can telepathically send you a map, which you must immediately write down.” An image of her location and where they are appeared, and a sketchy map was made. With direction from Rolf, Caro wrote down the map. “Now, humans, please, save me before it’s too-” “I’m afraid they are way to busy to help you, my pet. The last of your telepathic powers are mine, Sarisa.” As the new voice spoke, it spoke to both warriors. It was a male voice, and it sounded like it was coated in pure shadow. Indeed, Caro could feel the darkness rushing through his mind. “You seem to have a connection with my new Dragon. I do not know why, or what, this connection is yet. Never the less, I will not be able to find out. You, Caro Hoshi, are a Dragon Rider, and therefore a threat to my plans. And YOU, Rolf Terinkef, are an assassin, and you seem to have made first connections with my Dragon.” “How do you know who we are?” Caro demanded to know. “This is freshly burned into her mind, and therefore, easy information to obtain. But your Spirits…I cannot seem to have them tell me what you will be. But, as I stated, I have no need to know, as you will surely die. ” The dark voice spoke. Unknowingly to the Heroes, a bombardment of people surrounded them, with the Kid-Man mage that captured Sarisa at the lead. “Grrrrrr. I am TIRED of this! Thinking you are so superior to us! Listen, Whoever you are, WE ARE COMING DOWN TO KICK YOUR BUTT! ” Caro Screamed inside to the shadow voice. “Says you…. You will not survive to threaten me. I have the dragon, and slowly, she is becoming attuned to the dark side. And there is nothing you can do about it.” “NO! HE’S LYING!” The heroes heard a desperate scream in Sarisa’s Voice. “What? Waste your final powers on screaming? Pity, They can’t help you. ” “SARISA!!!!! WE WILL SAVE YOU! I PROMISE!” Rolf said in his head. “I’d like to see that. If you survive this, than come towards me. It won’t be easy, but come! I wish you horrible luck. MHUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! ” The voice than cut off, and an Arrow whizzed by Caro’s head. “Looks like we’ve got company.” Rolf said with a grim voice. |
