Veronica had chosen to go up to the towers to get a little bit of cool down time after her interesting...swim...with Draco. She told him she was going to shower and dress and the like, and she did, but, after, she wanted to have just a few moments to gather her thoughts alone. She figured that no one really went up in the towers anyway, not like there were many people here, so she'd have her privacy. Once she climbed to the top floor, she slumped down against the wall and rested her head on her knees. She did her yoga breathing that one of her friends taught her, and tried to calm down. She did feel more comfortable than the morning, anyway. She was now wearing a pair of faded jeans she found with her stuff, and a long sleeved green shirt under her favorite black hoodie. She was looking out the window trying to figure out if this was real, when she heard a noise behind her. |

Stella Montague hadn't meant to follow Veronica, but somehow it had just ended up happening. She wanted to observe the girl in her natural habitat, so as to understand why she acted the way she did. Maybe it was a little creepy, but Stella's scientific mind had felt compelled to see why the girl was wandering alone in the castle when Stella had expected her to be in the company of the other Slytherin, as there was no telling what dangers lurked in the shadows at Hogwarts. The way she acted surprised her, because Stella had imagined Veronica cackling evilly over a cauldron like fairy tale witches did in their spare times, instead of making herself in to a small ball. Weird. Still wearing her uniform, Stella accidentally stepped on a piece of rubble as she attempted to back away to give the girl privacy and nearly lost her footing in the few seconds her body was sent in to orbit. She cursed silently as she realized she hadn't been as sneaky as she had hoped. "Er, shouldn't you be cursing Gryffindors right now?" Stella said, trying to sound tougher than she really was. Maybe she could get away with being here longer than Veronica if she just acted like Veronica had intruded on her time alone. It sounded like a good plan to her. |

Veronica pulled out her wand quickly as she turned her head to face the noise. She rolled her eyes and sighed when she realized who it was. "Oh, its just you." She said, with a little more venom in her voice when she said 'you' than needed. She rolled her eyes again as the girl spoke. "Shouldn't you be off somewhere judging people on things you know nothing about?" She spat back, not in the mood for the queen of smartness to give her snobby looks. "This is a little far from the library, what are you doing up here?" She no longer kept the calm tone in her voice as she had done in the hospital wing. She didn't want to pretend to get along with Stella, something about her just bugged her. Maybe it was because she looked at Veronica like she was better than her somehow. Or maybe it was just because she was a Ravenclaw. Either way, she had Draco as a friend, and she didn't need anyone else. She scoffed as she saw that stella was still wearing her uniform. "Silly girl. Don't you realize that there are no teachers here to bust you for not wearing a school uniform? Or are you just that into following the rules that you obey even when no ones enforcing them?" She asked with a snarky tone. Perfect little Ravenclaws, always trying to be the best. |

"You are such a good judge of character!" Stella clapped her hands together, in a fake peppy voice at the words that seemed to be spewing from Porter's mouth. "I'm so glad you took the time to tell me I judge people I know nothing about; it means a lot coming from a hypocrite." She placed heavy emphasis on the last word, bending over slightly so she could talk to the girl on her level, and she hoped it would allow the idea to come across the Stella had to stoop to her level. "Merlin, you must be so proud that you are the only Slytherin girl here so you can finally get that elusive Draco Malfoy. No one even knows why you Slytherin girls go bat-crazy over him.." Stella hoped she had hit a nerve, it had seemed obvious the two were romantically linked from the very beginning. "Ever stop to think that I don't really care how I look now that there is no one here?" Her lips curled in to a better-than-you smile, as she straightened up, and smoothed the pleated blue skirt she was so proud of. "You must be glad you can finally tart it up without having to worry about teachers. Don't worry though, I don't think anyone here even acknowledges you as anything other than Malfoy's plaything for the week. I'll make sure they don't judge you too harshly when he is through with you." Somehow, Stella realized, she had started out feeling sorry for the girl, but Porter just seemed to make her blood boil extra hot. |

Veronica's eyes widened as Stella called her a hypocrite. "Are you bloody kidding me? Me, a hypocrite? Don't think I didn't see all those looks you were shooting at me in the hospital wing. I'm sorry if you didn't like my pajamas, but its not exactly like I knew I wasn't going to be in my bed when I woke up, so there was really no bloody need for you to go giving me those looks like you thought I was wearing that to impress the bloody 'slytherin sex god' or something. You don't know anything about me, and you should not judge a book by its cover." She said, her voice fully venomous now. As Stella bent over and continued to talk, Veronica was getting so furious that she couldn't take it anymore. She stood up, making it clear that she was not just some stupid first year about to get bullied around. "Excuse me?" She practically yelled as she brought Draco into the conversation. "Once again, you prove how little you know. He is my bloody best friend, and you had best never speak about him that way again. I don't take kindly to people being rude to my friends." She spat out, infuriated. The fact that she would bring him into this was just pushing her over the edge. Who did this Stella girl think she was anyway? When Stella said 'Malfoy's plaything' Veronica snapped. She shoved Stella up against the wall, drawing out her wand and pointing it at the girl. "You know absolutely NOTHING about him. I am not his 'plaything' I am his FRIEND." She shouted, almost losing it. "And I think it would be best for you to acknowledge me as something other than that, because you have no idea what I can do." She said threateningly. She was not going to be pushed around by this stupid Ravenclaw, and she was certainly going to make it known to her that she was not just some bimbo. "I am not a force to be reckoned with, so I suggest you stop pissing me off." She said as she let the girl go, and slowly put down her wand. |

"You are calling me a book worm and telling me I'm too far from the library. I think that's judging 'a book by it's cover', or whatever you just said," Stella said with a laugh, genuinely enjoying Veronica's anger. There was something so gratifying about having the power to push people's buttons without her feelings ever getting hurt. Porter's rambling were not very important to her, because she was just letting her anger talk, and besides that... she was a Slytherin girl. They weren't known to be the biggest thinkers, or even the most useful. "Friend, friend, friend... Will you still be 'friends' when other girls show up, though? When he realizes you are just dragging him down here and actually ruining his chances of survival?" The light hit her eyes in just the right way, to show the viciousness inside of her, the anger and frustration over what had happened that she couldn't understand, and how it was manifesting itself in a silly fight over nothing. As she lay in Porter's grasp up against the wall, she was a little afraid. She would have been more afraid, however, if she had been closer to the edge. This girl would never dare hex her, as Stella was sure the Gryffindors would side with her over the Slytherins who had pushed themselves away from everyone else. "Oh, I'm just so scared." Stella growled at Porter's threats, feeling confident in her abilities to fight off whatever the girl threw at her. That was something she had to be proud of, her excellent marks in all of her classes, and magic was generally not working in the castle. "I'm pretty sure I don't run around kissing my friends' necks. So either you are just easy, or you are something Malfoy is amusing himself with. I know you aren't a force to be reckoned with, that's why I truly don't care what threats you use. Besides, magic doesn't work here." "I'm just so pleased that you feel like you have to defend Malfoy. You must be really close friends..." She deftly moved out of the girl's reach, just in case she decided to push her again. Stella would never resort to physical violence, but if the girl touched her again, she would scream for help. |

She rolled her eyes. "Its not judging a book by its cover when you've gone to school with someone for six years and the only time you see them is in the library." She said with a scoff as Stella once again proved to Veronica that she was just a judgmental person. She bit her tongue as Stella continued to talk about how she was just Draco's plaything. "Shut up about things you don't know about Stella, or I will hurt you." She said through gritted teeth as she turned to face her again. She rolled her eyes and laughed as she said she wasn't afraid. "Well honey, you should be scared, and take me a serious threat." She turned to walk away when she heard Stella say that she and Malfoy must be really close friends. She stopped for a moment, turned around, marched up to Stella, and punched her square in the jaw. Her friends had taught her how to punch a long time ago, in case she ever needed it, and it turned out she did. She groaned as her arm recoiled, pissed off that Stella pushed her to this point. She turned on her heels, and started walking, not saying another word. She was too mad, she needed to cool down. |

The blonde Hufflepuff caught herself wandering among the grounds again, humming to no one in particular. It was surprisingly pretty for a day in the life of the Hogwarts students, found alone and left to fend for their own. She slipped her thin hands into the pockets of her baggy cargo pants as she walked, her hips sashaying naturally down the hallway. Evan was merely caught up in her own thoughts when she heard a familiar whine, echoing throughout the remnants of the classrooms. "Shut up about things you don't know about Stella, or I will hurt you .... Well honey, you should be scared, and take me a serious threat."" Honey eyes narrowed at the source of Veronica's voice. Her usual walk quickened to a trotting pace as her long blonde waves shrugged behind her like a cape. Turning a disheveled corner, Evangelina immediately stopped her steps, causing her hair to shoot forward and to temporarily lose balance. The scene played out in slow motion-- Veronica's fist plowing right into the face of Stella's-- the rebound and recoil. Evan grimaced. She glanced from the Slytherin's fuming expression to Stella's stumbling back in shock. A wave of anger shot up from her feet to her fingertips. The honey gaze watched silently as Veronica began to walk away from the scene of the crime, leaving Stella to her pain. A hand touched Stella lightly in compassion, but cracking her knuckles threateningly, Evangelina Moussa's aura completely changed. They did say Hufflepuffs were loyal. "What in the bloody hell did you do that for, Porter?" Evangelina snapped in disbelief. Slytherins were supposed to be cunning, not stupid. "Show some constraint, you perfect little pansy," she said pointedly as she brushed some of the blonde curls from her face. "Or else I won't hesitate to hurt you, either." It was a common consensus that Evan couldn't manage to hurt a fly; however, not many knew the experience she held beneath her belt. Sure, there was a time for pacifism in which Evan would rightly justify-- but these were different times. These were harder times. Evangelina Moussa cracked her knuckles again. |

"Isn't it funny how the only time I see you is when you are trailing Draco like an injured puppy?" Stella tilted her head to the side, a smile slowly creeping across her face. There was something so satisfying about making some one's life miserable with a few taunting words. She even felt like she was repeating what she was saying, but it didn't matter because Porter kept getting angrier. Even her jabs at Stella proved worthless, as they simply bounced off of her seemingly tough exterior; the truth, however, was that she was proud about her time in the library, and her grades. The punch had come at her so quickly, she barely had time to wipe the smile off her face. One moment, a tan blur was approaching her jaw; the next, her face felt the dull, throbbing pain of a recent injury. She took a few steps backward, her hand gently prodding the area where the blow was received to make sure permanent damage hadn't been inflicted. "You little prick," She seethed, wondering how Porter would have reacted if she had said any of the other things she was thinking about. Stella continued to nurse her wound, as the fact that Evan had showed up to stand up for her honor slowly dawned on her. "Porter is certifiably insane, that's why she did it. There is no other reason for it." She winced slightly as she touched a particularly sensitive spot, continuing with her denial of her part in the fight. "Merlin, she just attacked me out of no where. I don't think shes the kind of person we need wandering these halls.." |

Veronica rolled her eyes and silently fumed more as Evan came to Stellas defense. "Please, if you think i'm the only one at fault here your certifiably insane." She said as she turned around calmly and took a few steps closer to the girls. "Evan, maybe you should wonder how I was driven to punch Stella. Maybe it's because your friend is actually a bloody prick who says things to purposely piss people off. Maybe I overreacted, but it was worth it. At least you finally shut up." She said as she directed the last line at Stella. "Lets just keep this incident in mind next time you want to try to push me off the edge Stella. And you know what, Draco and I are friends, so shut the hell up about it. Maybe you keep bringing him up because you're jealous- whatever. Just cut the crap and leave me alone, or I promise you'll be sorry." She said, having had about enough of Stellas crap. She turned away and took a moment to try and calm down before she started to leave again. 'Just walk away.' She told herself as she fought the urge to keep yelling at Stella, or worse, punch her again. She knew she shouldn't have let Stella get to her, but at the moment, she didn't care, she thought Stella pretty much deserved it. Mess with the bull, well, you know the rest. |

"It's not about fault, Porter. There's a time to be impulsive and a time to be intelligent. Now, you're a Slytherin-- Which time do you think this situation calls for, now?" Evan would be the first to admit that Veronica caught her off guard with her childishness. The blonde never struck Evangelina as someone who would be so immature, but everyone was at wit's end, now. Still, the honey eyes of Evan's leered down at Veronica, still waiting for an actual valid reason to justify her actions. It was true that Stella had a habit of pushing people the wrong way-- but that was simply because she didn't like the person, Evan believed. She was sure that a lot of girls were jealous of Veronica's position with Malfoy; after all, he did have Reputation: Sex God written all over his face for a reason. But was the Slytherin so insecure about it that she needed to take it out on others? Wasn't that a rule that her Draco established, and that she agreed upon? The fact hit her huge, Hufflepuff heart. Veronica Porter blatantly broke a rule that her lover made himself. Before Evangelina could get a word in edgewise, the other blonde finished her rant towards Stella, one Evan only listened part of the way through. "Just cut the crap and leave me alone, or I promise you'll be sorry. Veronica had said, voice unwavering. Taking a step towards the Slytherin, a grin couldn't help but slide over Evangelina Moussa's face. "Still with the threats, hm?" Veronica turned her back on the badger, and Evan slapped her hand onto her shoulder, spinning her back around to face her chestnut-hued eyes. "We'll be sure to consider your requests once you keep your threats down that deep throat of yours." Evangelina hissed before running a hand through her blonde curls. |

"Shut me up?" Stella tried to smile, even with her jaw pounding, and her hand cradling her face gently as it felt like it could possibly fall off. She was so grateful for Evan being there to defend her honor, because she couldn't imagine dealing with the blond on her own. Porter was bad news, and she was going to make sure to watch out for her more, but she wouldn't stop teasing her because of a simple punch. "Porter, if you think that'll make me not say the truth, you are sorely mistaken. You obviously are insecure enough about Malfoy that you'll lash out at me for unknown reasons. And I'm not jealous, I just noticed you get irrationally angry whenever someone mentions him." Evan's threats to her attacker made Stella realize how amazing it was to have friends. Veronica seemed to underestimate the Hufflepuff's power, which made Stella hope Porter would give Evan a reason to get violent also. "Evan, don't even bother," Her eyes narrowed to slits, as she sidled up to her friend's side. "Porter here will be leaving now. She has to go back to her lair to tell all of her friends about how she broke Malfoy's one rule." Her eyes widened in mock concern, continuing to poke and prod the snake's sore spot. "Will he forgive you? Or will he be angry that you might have started a fight between the two 'sides'?" Her hand left her cheek long enough to do air quotes, because even though Stella had fought for everyone to be together, there was no denying there was a fracture that split the students. |
