^_^ I'm a final year student of Industrial Design from National University Of Singapore. Currently I'm working on my final year design thesis, and I would like to collect the voices from from over the world. Your kind advice and ideas sharing are important for me to drive my project successfully. I would like to hear all the opnions and ideas from people around the world, it will be greatly appreciated if you can share with me your opinions and ideas on my design topic... =)

Through the daily observation, I realized there are a group of leisure travellers who actually wash their own laundry (eg. undergarments, face towels, socks ,easy-dry t shirt) in the hotel room during the trip and dry the washed garments in the hotel room. One of the problems that they face is there is no proper place for them to hang their wet washed garments and it also a trouble to get the clothes dry within the few hours, especially when they want to leave to another place on the next day and also due to the season / weather.

Therefore my thesis topic is to design something to for people who:
a) go on leisure travel
b) stay in 1 - 2 star hotel
c) travel on low budget
d) 20 - 28 years old for both male and female
e) Length of trip is 3 - 10 days

I would like to hear on your comments and wish you can share your experience and creative ideas and opnion with me. Thanks

unthink

wah, 1 - 2 star hotel? I can't help on that cos usually if go tour is above 3 star, min 4 star i think... Maybe a bigger market for that haha.. 1 - 2 star like backpackers instead.

I can give you some input of your project.. Usually wet garments drying rate really depends on the weather/climate. E.g. When I go to U.S. it was about just after the winter time and the weather there is cold and dry.. your clothes dry up pretty fast, there is no problem to think about how to dry it, just hang it up in the bathroom (it still dries up!)

Furthermore, i believe any place away from the tropical region don't have an issue of drying clothes. Well you can wear a set of clothes for 3 days or more in cold countries and your clothes don't really smell (cos you don't sweat)..

For my case when i go overseas it is ARMY style! i pack my clothes in ZIPLOCKs and will bring extras for wet items during the return trip or moving from one place to another. You get everything compact and neat. The smell only comes when you reach home unpacking hahaha...

Maybe it is a good idea to design a bag that can absorb moisture and unpleasant smell when closed? It is important that it should be easy to use and cheap to get :P

You may also consider the use of natural resources such as charcoal as an agent to remove bad odors and moisture.

For me, bringing around wet clothes is an issue as there bound to be some that you cannot get it dry in time when travelling about.

Good Luck!
