Sort of a follow on from the most depressing book topic, but with a spin. I just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and it was pretty incredible reading. That said, it was the bleakest, harrowing, most depressing thing I've encountered in a book before. As I said to Gav earlier, the only way I can describe the impact it has is with the picture at the bottom.

Anyone else read it or wants to? Anyone seen the film?

Well, I thought this film looked amazing, I don't know much about the book, though I imagine it's similar. From what you've told me the authors writing style is great, and I feel compelled to read it soon. Once I've finished all the hundreds of books that I've piled up.
