Well... to die a hero, is a death with meaning. Most people aren't afforded that.
Even the greatest of men, Alexander THE great died a meaningless death.

But life itself doesn't have meaning. It's whatever you prescribe to it. That meaning changes with age, the wisest choice is to live forgotten, but to remember what transpired.
