First of all, let's clarify what logic is, for the purposes of this topic.

Merriam-Webster

Logic - A science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and demonstration : the science of the formal principles of reasoning.

Or in laymen's terms; logic is deduction through reasoning.

In most cases, I think it can be agreed that it's good to be logical. But to what extent is logic useful?
How does it compare to elements such as intuition or emotion in some fields? What fields are these more useful, or as useful as logic?

Personally, I feel that sometimes logic isn't all that handy anymore when it comes to some topics. And that's coming from someone that highly values it. But let's hear what everyone else has to say first.

Humans are driven by emotion, everything a human does is influenced by emotion. I'm posting in this thread because of some sort of emotional urge I have.

Logic gives us a way to control our emotional urges so we don't live life as a basket case. Whenever we're in a situation that gives us a surge of emotion, its best to channel it with logic.

For example, I see a hot ass girl walking towards me, I get nervous because of my emotions towards her. I start to think how I can interact with her, I recall that woman frown on nervousness and shyness, so being confident would be the best way to interact with this hot girl. I remember seeing her check out a red car in the school parking lot a week ago, it was a red honda civic. If I run out of things to say to her I can always resort to talking about cars, I could ask her what kinda car she has. Seeing how that honda civic was red, red might be her favorite color. I could talk about how easy it is to clean cars that are red as opposed to cars that are black.

That's me using logic to find a solution to a situation where I had an emotional surge. I think logic is a requirement for humans to function in life. Like shock absorbers.
