Every kind of creativity is good. But too much imagination will lead to failure and dissapointment.

The One and the Only

imaginative ability: the ability to use the imagination to develop new and original ideas or things, especially in an artistic context

Now, after reading that definition; it should be rather obvious that creativity is necessary, not just for life, but for society to advance. For example, when we needed it the most, Calculus was created. Creating that opened not only a new branch of mathematics, but it created all these amazing things you could do with mathematics that you couldn't or would be rather hard to before. Creativity is lacking in our society, because no teacher goes to their students and says "Do what you feel like doing day, create what you want to. Do what you believe will give you a livelihood in the future. Do that, and you pass", instead they say "Memorize these formulas for the test, and do the most basic problems for this said topic". That is not going to help anybody create anything. It will just create similar, boring drones. Copies of each other, and that won't get much done. Of course, their knowledge will get them some where. But not as much if they were allowed to work at their own pace, and do what they felt was best for them. Now, you may use the argument that some kids may not do anything. They may choose to do nothing. Well, that's their problem, not mine. If they don't want to do anything, that might help them by giving them time to think about what they want, but still. It's not my concern if somebody wants to mess up their life. If we do this, we may have more bright, creative people. Now, I do agree that we should still have classes that teach all the subjects needed, however, we should still give time for the students to do what they want. Work on what they feel is best. That's just what I think.

I agree with all of this. I try to be a creative person through music, the wolves I draw, and writing. From time to time, I do get ideas, but they don't always stay in my head. I'm not the greatest at science or, what I recently seemed to have found, math. Those are very strict subjects. Now, for English...that one's easy. When it comes to writing, it just flows easily for me. Music's the same way. It's easy. Also, creativity usually means fun. By the sounds of it, it appears as though the people keeping us on these boring ways of life don't like fun.

As for creativity running out...well...it hasn't so far. True, there's some terrible stuff out there, but you get the diamonds in the rough that eventually stand out and become something greater. If only we encouraged creativity more like it was back in the '50s and '60s. Seriously...I really want to know what caused it to be like this. :C
