Time apparently is not eternal

Scientists now say that time will stop, and everything will stop and cease to move. I don't know much of the science behind this or how complicated this will be to wrap my head around it.

What is time anyways? :-/

How is this possible? Time will go on forever, there is no end to it, it's as simple as that.

Scientist can't know for sure that time will stop, for all they know it is eternal.

Well time and space are connected, and space is ever expanding.

Does that mean time is ever expanding?

well for one, time is not a gigantic force that sweeps through all, time is a perception, in which we are living in the past no matter what we do because of the delay of neurons (or was it another process?) processing information to our head.

time is evident through motion and movement (considering it is measured by the rotation of earth).

since time is a perception, everyone experiences it at different speeds/rates.

think of time more as scientific and more theoretical other than the story book definition you guys have been getting 9_9 /lalalala pretentious

here are the articles:

From your second article, I noticed something interesting:

Quote:

In a recent paper, they calculate that time is likely to end within the next 5 billion years due to some type of catastrophe that no one alive at the time will witness.

So... the explosion of the sun will cause time to stop?

We really can't tell for sure whether time itself will end or not. We can keep a record of it for future reference when it comes to certain events, but we can't perceive it as something that'll eventually run out. Who's to say that it'll just go on without us? Time is something outside of our comprehension and actually is something that I consider to be outside our realm entirely. It's a force and being of its own. We can't control time. Therefore, I say that these scientists are either being trolls or are sadly mistaken. That or maybe even a little bit on the crazy side. But I digress. I don't think that this is actually going to happen.

lolwut, of course thats why scientists say 'might'. keeping records have nothing to do with anything seeing as how you said it is another force or something.

we CAN perceive time running out...well not really because you'd be frozen and every process is stopped in your body along with everything else so you wont really know whats going on either way and just stick there for all eternity : 3 so you can say you're dead lah

if time runs out then, it runs out. it cant go on, and it doesn't need us since you also said its a complete force of another unworldy thing or something, and where did all this "we can control" time discussion come from?

why are they sadly mistaken? how do you know they are when the future has not arrived yet. anyways it can't be proven or be disproved without proper evidence presented other than anecdotes you got off a storyboard poetic class meaning of "time"

yeah your post is just a contradicting and irrelevant gold mine, i'm here to argue about semantics until someone can 'refute' the theory with proper evidence and not anecdotal concepts they gathered from books etc.
