With everything that magnum's said so far, I've been nodding my head at every one. Another question about things you've seen/read. Have you read Josh McDowell's More Than a Carpenter? If not, I highly recommend it. Chris has my copy of it now to read while he's down in Tennessee. |

It's a good book that shows and disproves many theories. It's a good read. YOU should read it, too, Boss. |

You're probably trolling, but I'll respond, anyway. Darwin was religious until his theory of evolution pointed him toward atheism. You can read letters he wrote about how deeply torn he was because his wife was religious, especially after someone they loved (I think it was their son), died. By the way, Darwin even admitted there was evidence against his theory and that should still at least be considered, but evolutionists have stuck to his theory. I'm starting the whole evidence thing now. Okay. Before I start listing some of the evidence, I want to point some things out. Intellectually convincing someone of creationism is near impossible. I've talked to scientists and philosophical scholars in general, and everyone agrees that convincing someone's mind will seldom convert them to Christianity; only the Holy Spirit can impact someone to the degree of conversion. Matthew 22:37 "Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." Notice it includes more than just mind. Actually reading Scripture with all your heart, soul, and mind is capable of changing someone's mind more than science ever will, regardless of what the person professes on the exterior. Feel free to bring up any supposed inerrancies in the Bible, and I'll address it specifically. When there's confusion, it's often really helpful to look at another verse that addresses the problem. Proverbs 14:12 "There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." I said that faith is evidence-based, and that's true. But just because that includes scientific evidence, that doesn't exclude personal convictions one can only experience first-hand, again through the work of the Holy Spirit. Focusing on loving rather than strict science gets us farther than science ever could alone. Now that that's out of the way, I'd like to clarify that what I'm posting is a small part of intellectual evidence toward God. I'll even avoid topics that only lead toward mere debates, like morality. If there's anything I don't address (which there will be A LOT), feel free to either ask or look up answers from creationist websites or books. (Beware, some of them have false information.) I won't be covering the Big Bang or evolution in-depth, but I'll list one for each that disproves it, either in a small or large degree. I'd rather type the actual evidence in another post to make sure people read through this first. (Maybe I'll even devote each post to different areas. Feel free to thumbs down my reputation for posting consecutively.) Edited by surrealmagnum, Nov 23 2011, 03:17 PM.
