Rapid makes a pretty good point. World Religions are just different paths that lead to the same thing in a sense. There are plenty more of these paths than just the religions we know of in this world. One could say that each person is a different path, because each person believes different things. |

That's a really old cop-out that people like to use, "We all have the same destination, just a different map to get there." That's pretty ridiculous, honestly. Muhammad taught WAY different from Jesus, who taught WAY different from Buddha. The only similarity you could draw from Islam and Christianity is belief in the "same" God. Christianity was based off of truths from the Old Testament and focused on love. Islam comes around 600-something years later and makes up facts about what's "real", picks and chooses what Jesus said, and focuses on death and violence. (I read The Koran, by the way.) For example, the penalty for apostasy in Islam is death, the penalty for that in Christianity is nonexistent; in fact, it's to love them. Monotheism in particular cannot be a part of the same destination because in excludes other religions entirely. |
