fear is ironic, when u think about fear, it IS an emotion. more of a reaction to things, goes with cause and effect and all that.
Well, nobody said it wasn't one.

It's not something passed down or inherited.
But why are we like this?
Because every being's basic instinct is to survive. That's why things such as suicide scare us, because it goes against our wants of self-preservation. Being hunted back when we were still prey to large predators, fear was most likely experienced. That's where the theory of behavioral genetics comes in.

I highly doubt that we developed fear out of one single event.
I FIGHT BACK EMERALDS COPY PASTE STORY WITH ANOTHER COPY PASTE STORY:

" You know when you’re falling asleep, and you suddenly get the feeling that you’ve tripped? Your body lurches forward in an instant, ready to protect you instinctively from injury. You can almost SEE the ground rising to meet you. This occurs when the boundaries between you and the “you” in an alternate universe are weakest.

This is the feeling that happens when another “you” dies. "

Here's a response from a anonymous poster:

We developed that jolt as we awaken from a shallow sleep as a defence mechanism. There's a tiger about to mung on unevolved us's face, we suddenly jerk for almost no reason in our sleep, tiger freaks the fuck out and backs off. It's elementary.

Actually it's fun to think about in a way, every one of our ancestors who didn't develop this hypnic reflex got killed at some point, which is why we all experience this. Every time you jolt out of a shallow sleep, you're doing something that possibly millions weren't capable of and died for.

Also fear isnt a passed down trait. Its human survival.

Like when you were a child and you touched a really hot object, and it burned you. Would you touch it again? What if someone moves the hot object close to you, wouldnt you get the urge to back up in FEAR of getting burned?

Everyone starts out like a computer with no data. Then you absorb all that data in your years of growing up.

So noty it isnt passed down.

Fear is that one thing.
And it stays just like that thing.
So let's only describe it as... that thing!
