Does it make you happy you're so strange?

Characters on WotR: Celeborn and Arataur
How Did You Find Us?: Lu!

General Information:
Name: Elrohir
Alias: ‘Peredhil’, meaning “Half-Elf” in Sindarin.
Gender: Male.
Homeland and Descent: Born within the walls of Rivendell, Elrohir’s veins flow with the blood of Elf and Man alike. Primarily of Noldorin, Telerin and Sindarin blood, he is, however, counted among the Half-Elven, being a descendent of the doomed love between Lúthien and Beren, and the houses of Bëor, Haleth and Hador are therefore included in his ancestry. He has some Vanyarin ancestry (due to Indis, second wife of Finwë, of whose children Galadriel [his grandmother] is descended), as well as a bit of the Maiar (Lúthien’s mother was, indeed, Queen Melian, the Maia who married King Elu Thingol).
Age: Born in the year 130 of the Third Age, that puts Elrohir and his twin, Elladan, at 2,888 years old.
In the Service of: Elrohir and his twin hold their allegiance not only to Rivendell, but also to Lórien, where dwell his grandparents, Galadriel and Celeborn. They’ve also been known to travel with the Rangers of the North, and are therefore on good relations with this folk.

Weaponry
Weapons: Although he has at least a basic knowledge of several weapon forms, Elrohir vastly prefers the classical bow and sword combination. He carries both, and is proficient with them, but he possesses more skill in the latter.

His bow, like many other things he carries, was gifted to him by Galadriel and Celeborn. Its composition and form are practically identical to the bows of the Lórien border-watch, but the designs crafted into it are unique. It is stained a greenish-gray, but the vine-like designs were left their natural hue, so that they stand out clearly.

His sword was gifted to him by his father, and closely resembles the sword used by his sister, Hadhafang. It measures roughly four-and-a-half feet long, and curves gently throughout its length. It, too, has had designs crafted into it, and its red leather-bound hilt sports depictions of entwining vines.

Elrohir is also said to carry a silver horn, the sound of which is bright and clear. While it does little in the way of scaring off enemies, nonetheless its sound serves well to rally those around him and instill them with courage.

Armor: As a warrior, Elrohir naturally finds it necessary to wear armor for protection. His gauntlets, greaves, breastplate and even the shining mail underneath are made of the finest steel, polished to a high shine and plated (on the more decorative parts) with silver and gold embellishments. These embellishments are in the form typical of the Elves, depicting various types of vines, leaves and even flowers. The Elves have mastered the art of blending beauty with function, and Elrohir’s armor represents this. Over this armor, both Elrohir and his brother are known to wear gray cloaks, which were likely given to them by the Elves of Lothlórien.

Steed: As he is nearly 3,000 years old, it is doubtless that Elrohir has had many steeds in his life. His current horse is a white stallion with gray mane and tail, which he has named Gareloth.

Powers: So far as can be known, Elrohir has no magical ability beyond that which is naturally given to the Elves.

Description
Physical Description: Descended from some of the greatest Elves in the history of Arda, it should come as no surprise that Elrohir possesses a stature and countenance that command a room. He is rather tall, standing well over six feet, and years of riding and fighting have shaped his body into a lean and muscular form. While impressive to look at, however, he is not intimidating, and as he is less than legendary, his general appearance is one of industrious royalty.

Elrohir’s long face is framed by very dark hair, which he wears in various ways depending upon the occasion. Most often, when in the Wild, he keeps his hair simply tied back or let down; when staying in the comfort of his home in Imladris (especially on the occasion of a feast or celebration), he is more inclined to adorn his braids with various types of embellishments, not the least of which is a circlet of silver. His eyes, which are steel gray, are wide and bright. His piercing gaze can be quite stern and altogether loving at the same time, and it can be difficult to discern his true emotions to those who are ill-acquainted with him.

Personality: Unofficially regarded as the wiser of the two twins, Elrohir has inherited his father’s knowledge and wisdom. While this has its advantages, it has also earned him the reputation of being the less cheerful and spirited of the two. Elrohir is fully capable of having fun and “letting loose”, though he is admittedly less likely to do so than Elladan. Together, the two balance each other out wonderfully, and they are nigh inseparable.

A determined warrior, Elrohir is courageous and fierce, though he does possess a softer side. He dearly loves and cherishes his younger sister, Arwen Undómiel, and takes care to look after as much as he can. So great was his love for his mother, Celebrían, that when she departed for the Blessed Realm, he stirred his brother to go with him and hunt down the orcs that were responsible for her flight.

Elrohir, being Half-Elven, has been granted the same choice as that which was presented to his father before him: to depart for the Undying Lands, or to remain as a mortal in Middle Earth. Naturally, this is a huge decision to make, and Elrohir has some difficulty with it. While he dearly loves all the things of the Elves, and longs to see the shores of Aman, equally is he in love with all of Endor, and he does not wish to leave his sister alone. It is likely, though, as he and Elladan are so close, that they will choose alike.

History: Born in the year 130 of the Third Age of Middle Earth, Elrohir and his twin Elladan came into the world within the borders of Rivendell. This city, which their father founded shortly after the Battle of Dagorlad, has always been their home and retriet, and Elrohir cherishes it greatly. His childhood, long since past, was one of gaiety and mischief, as he, his brother, and their friends ran about the lands surrounding Imladris, playing all manner of games. He was relatively young, the elven equivalent of an adolescent, when he began to learn the ways of weaponry (though it would be some time before he would practice with real weapons). He and his comrades spent long days in the forests, creating mischief and practicing their skills, and it is said that Rivendell saw little peace in those years.

Yet there came a time when his days of frivolity were over, and he grew to become a handsome adult. It was at this time that his father, Elrond, began to employ the services of Elrohir and his brother as messengers and scouts. The sons were given their first real weapons and armor, and they set out often in the name of their father, with the purpose of performing various tasks for him. During this time, both twins were equally mannered and cheerful, having yet to see the pain of the world first-hand.

It was in the year III 2509 that Elrohir’s eyes were opened to true pain. His mother, Celebrían, was on her way back to Imladris from Lothlórien, where she had been visiting her parents, when she was waylaid by orcs and captured. Elrohir and Elladan, worried by their mother’s tardiness, rode out to seek her. They found her within the lairs of the orcs, where she had been badly poisoned. They returned her to Rivendell, where she was cured by Elrond, but Celebrían could not be persuaded to remain in Middle Earth thereafter. Filled with horror, she sailed westward, never to return.

Elrohir and Elladan at this time formed an alliance with the Rangers, and furiously pursued the orcs. Filled with hatred, they killed all that they could, and would again ride against the orcs to avenge their mother’s pain. Over four hundred years later, in the year III 2933, they fought the orcs alongside Arathorn II. This man, the father of Aragorn and Chieftain of the Dúnedain, was slain in that battle by an arrow to the eye, and thereafter the twins continued to ride with the rangers.

Some years later, the son of Arathorn II joined them in their travels, having been raised in within the house of their father. Elrohir regarded Aragorn highly, and they began a steadfast friendship in that year. They spent many years traveling the wilds, until finally the sons were called to return to Rivendell, where their father intended to hold a council.

It is to this council that they ride…
