Isn't being an urban warrior the newest type of martial art? With the ten skills representing all the different arts that like a samurai would have, arrows, swords, philosophy, etc. |

Krav Maga works using mainly realism in combat. A lot of sparring and bag work are used. But anti-terrorist drills and street safety is also part of the syllabus. So you can understand the origins of this art in modern day Israel, I guess. In a way it kind of IS the new ninjutsu, or bujutsu.... |

Krav Maga here in the states is much different than in training Israel, Krav Maga here is commercialized the programs a totally different then they train in Israel. it is hard-core in Israel elbows and knees stomping eye gouging meat potatoes, real hard-core. . Here in the states. It is watered down. Most programs here deal with weight loss a lot of a boxing bag work like a tae bo worked out due to the fact that most people are overweight here in U.S. and out of shape so they structured the program for the masses a.k.a. commercialized it .A lot Krav Maga's techniques and principles are flawed like Firearms Dissarments for one and many other core principles. Birth of krav maga To prepare soldiers for combat and to instill a warrior spirit, in the 1980s the IDF (Israeli Defense Force) created a boot-camp-style hand-to-hand program called krav maga (krav means "combat" or "fight," and maga means "touch" or "contact"). Krav maga is a well-rounded hybrid system which encourages students to be aggressive and decisive in conflict. It includes hard-hitting hand and elbow strikes, thai-style knee strikes, low kicks, grappling, knife defense, gun and rifle takeaways, and lots of physical conditioning. The original concept of krav maga was to absorb any martial art that was useful by taking its most effective techniques and teaching them quickly and efficiently. Krav maga offshoots In late 1980s krav maga was also being taught to the Israeli public. Since everyone in that society serves in the military, most of the population had been exposed to it anyway. In fact, the name of the art became so common that it was used as loosely in Israel as the word karate is used in America. Variations sprang up everywhere. By the 1990s, everybody was claiming to be a krav maga master or a 10th degree black belt. Some of the original instructors of krav maga got so fed up with people claiming that their krav maga was the "true-version taught to elite units" that they dropped the term krav maga from their vocabulary altogether. With so many people laying claims to the krav maga system, many veteran instructors felt a need to regulate what was, and was not, pure krav maga. Several organizations stepped up to the plate: the krav maga association, krav maga federation, krav maga union, Israeli krav maga, international krav maga federation, krav maga and so on. A few years ago, the Wingate Institute, a respected Israeli sports organization, claimed to have the exclusive rights to krav maga for licensing and curriculum purposes. Although it was recently defeated in court, the organization is appealing to the Israeli Supreme Court. Many in the military community are outraged at the Institutes attempt to gain control of the name. Since the commercialization of krav maga in Israel, there has been a movement away from using these terms altogether. I have been in the personal protection field for over 20 years have worked with just about everybody my background formal martial arts as a child through my early teens. My main martial art was kung fu san soo and a handful of others but I realize in my late teens that most formal martial arts do not apply to real-life circumstances I looked into more realistic personal protection like reality-based arts such as RMCAT,.I have been a bullet man early 20s . I helped designed and wright. Most of the Impact rape prevention classes in the early 80s their is only a small handful of people to do with adrenalin reactions and experiences during a fight? Eg Adrenal dump, adrenalin affecting your movements and so on. Reality-based arts not to many out there that work when apply to real-life circumstances! My opinion on what works out there are more science-based systems. Since my job truly depends on the knowledge of how to break the body down real scientific base arts are the key. It's basically describing the reflex arcs of the somatic nervous system caused by impact trauma to specific targets on the body. This is something that is real and universal among humans. And when you can understand these reactions and apply them to fighting, you can be devastating. What I have learned from last 10 + years from SCARS/TFT has never failed me under real world conditions. I have felt confident enough in what I have learned in training to apply it when it really counted and it worked. If you really study it understand Science: which was the main reason that I am drawn towards S.C.A.R.S. in the first place you will be so far ahead and better than any in the Martial Arts! |
