Opening Characters The Good: Zeno - The young son of Link and Ruto, he is a boy with a marvelous amount of potential and aspires to be like his father. His good-nature and charm are very reminiscent of his father. He looks very much like Link and the only visible feature of his Zora heritage is a tail sticking out from his back. Ruto - The mother of Zeno and the wife of Link. She is also the Sage of Water and the Queen of the Zoras following her father's passing. Along with the other Sages, Ruto is a guiding light for Zeno as he grows into adulthood. Link - The Hero of Time. Now older and swarmed with fame, Link continues to lead the fight against Ganondorf. He holds the Triforce of Courage and his legend grows with each heroic task.... Zelda - The Princess of Hyrule, Zelda was vital in Link's first defeat of Ganondorf and is the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom. The Bad: Sir Carrogen IV - Carrogen IV is the ruler of a large island nation known as Johan to the east of Hyrule. He despises Hyrule for it's overall prosperity and dominance across the globe citing that Hyrule is has a disproportionate amount of wealth as opposed to other nations across the globe.... Sir Carrogen V - The young son of Carrogen IV and the next in line to succeed the throne. He is one year older than Zeno and exhibits traits of arrogance, greed and jealousy. He is also known for his furious temper..... Ganondorf - The King of Evil. Ganondorf escaped his imprisonment from the Sacred Realm several years ago and has wreaked havoc against Hyrule ever since. He is the bearer of the Triforce of Power and the sworn enemy of Link... His cruelty, cunning and fury are his most visible traits... There are several other characters who are vital to the story that will be introduced later on, these are simply the ones that I have decided to start with... Footnote: The Legacy of Z takes place after Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask and follows the canon of those stories...for the most part. This story doesn't follow the games religiously but it's close enough, I guess. Edited by Bx, Dec 3 2008, 09:14:05 PM.

Prologue: The Past is History (The scenery is Hyrule, Link now 33 years old and expecting a child is running through the drenched Hyrule Castle Town en route for Hyrule Castle, which has been taken over by Ganondorf. Princess Zelda remains in the castle with Ganondorf as Link continues to rush through the gates and past the bodies of dead Hyrulian soldiers....) (Link unsheathes the Master Sword from it's case and clutches it in one hand along with his Mirror Shield in the other as he slashes his way through the dark, fiend-infested corridors of the castle. Though filled with fiends, the castle has not been booby-trapped with puzzles that Link must solve and because of this, he races up the stairs and into the thrown room where he suspects Ganondorf to be at....) Link: Hah... Not here? Hmm... A Man's Voice: I would suspect no less from you...Princess. (Link whipped around and looked behind him but Ganondorf and the Princess were no where in sight.) Link: Where?... A Man's Voice: Ha, ha, ha... Does it even matter at this point, Princess? Link: That voice. (Link looked up at the ceiling...) Link: On the roof... That's where they must be. (With that, Link rushed out of the door and ran up the final flight of stairs to reach the roof where Ganondorf and Zelda stood in the blackness of the night with the only light coming from the flashes of lightning as the harsh stormed raged on...) Link: GANONDORF! (Both Ganondorf and Zelda quickly turned around to see Link, who has in his battle stance, ready to strike at any moment.) Ganondorf: Link! How goes it? Ha, ha, ha... The scenery is quite fitting I would imagine, don't you think? The Princess and I were just discussing you... You've done well in your cause but this time is different Link... This time, I will win and you lose... Ha, ha, ha... Link: ..... Zelda: Link! You've got to stop him! Ganondorf: Is that even possible at this point, Zelda? What is done cannot simply be undone... Or, I suppose it could... But then again, Link is a hero, he would dare not do such a thing... Link: Zelda, what is he babbling about!? Zelda: .... *Looks down and shakes her head* Ganondorf: The full Triforce will be mine Link and you'll be the one to help me receive it, ha, ha, ha... Whether you realize it or not. Link: What are you talking about? (Link looks at Zelda.) Link: Zelda, what is he talking about? Zelda: Link... Ganondorf... (Ganondorf took his right hand and gave Zelda a hard slap to her face, instantly sending her to the ground...) Link: ZELDA! (Link ran to Zelda's aid but was quickly stopped by Ganondorf's imposing black blade which he used to block Link from helping Zelda to her feet.) Ganondorf: She stays there. She will regain consciousness soon... You and I must face one another in battle.... Her interference destroyed the purity in our last great duel... As you can plainly see through this harsh storm... Lightning does not strike the same place twice! (Ganondorf took a huge slash at Link who quickly blocked with his shield and rolled behind Ganondorf who turned around and lunged several thrusts at Link connecting with a few of his blows though Link remained undeterred and launched a vicious assault at Ganondorf's ankles, knocking the large Gerudo to the ground.) Link: Hah!!! (With Ganondorf on the ground, Link jumped and attempted to stab Ganondorf through the his heart but Ganondorf countered by grabbing Link by his throat in midair and began to strangle him...) Link: Ugh... Ugh... (As Ganondorf strangled Link, who was turning purple, he taunted him with vicious remarks...) Ganondorf: You are simply a fool! To think that you could stop me!? There's no one to save you now... But this is the purity of a duel, is it not? Two incredible forces each testing the other's limitations with the sole intention of claiming victory! Is victory not but a sweet thing, Link? Tell me what it tastes like!? You would be the one to know, wouldn't you!? Ha, ha, ha... Link: Ugh... Ganondorf: I remember all those years in captivity.... All that time spent frozen, frozen in a white abyss surrounded by nothing and no one.... As I hold your precious life, your dear life in my hands, I watch you try to scream, try to let out sounds for help.... But even now you do not know what it is like to scream for dear life when no one can hear you.... You do not know.... Not yet. Link: U...gh..... (As Link's eyes were bloodshot and beginning to close, Ganondorf released his grip and Link dropped to the ground...) Ganondorf: I do not want to kill you with my bare hands..... (Link weakly squirmed around on the ground gasping for air as Ganondorf bent down towards Link and grabbed the Master Sword.) Ganondorf: I want to punish you... The way you punished me.... (Ganondorf lifted the Master Sword high above his head.) Link: Ah....Zel....d....a.... Ganondorf: Zelda? (Ganondorf turned around and looked at Zelda who was still on the ground.) Ganondorf: Ha, ha, ha... Ha, ha, ha..... (Ganondorf turned back around and looked down at Link with a devilish smile on his face.) Ganondorf: Tonight... Hyrule will become.... Ahh!!! (Ganondorf fell to one knee...An arrow had pierced his left thigh. A Light Arrow.) Ganondorf: Zel...da... (Ganondorf looked at Zelda who stood with her bow in hand aimed at Ganondorf.) Zelda: I cannot allow this Ganondorf... This will end here tonight! Link, a gift! (Zelda opened a jar and released a gold-colored fairy which flew directly toward Link, who slowly stood up as he regained control of his faculties once again.) Link: Thank you....Zelda. Zelda: Hyrule rests on your shoulders once again Link! Ganondorf: Ha, ha, ha.... The fool! How is he going to defeat me with no weapon!? Ha, ha, ha.... (Ganondorf ripped the Light Arrow from his thigh and stood up with the Master Sword in hand.) Zelda: Link, you've got to take it from him! Ganondorf: Better yet, I'll give it back to you! (Ganondorf threw the Master Sword at Link as if it were a boomerang. Link dodged the blade but Ganondorf followed with a massive fist to Link's face.) Link: Ugh.... Zelda: Link! I can help! Ganondorf: What? (Zelda launched another Light Arrow into Ganondorf's thigh putting him to one knee again...) Ganondorf: You.... I swear... Zelda: Link! Now's your chance! Link: Hah! (Link retrieved the Master Sword and jump slashed at Ganondorf before....) BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! (Large meteor chunks rained down on the Castle's roof destroying everything surrounding the area.... It was hell.) Link: What is this!? Zelda!? Zelda: ...He couldn't have... Ganondorf: Din's Rain.... Ha, ha, ha.... A little trick that the Triforce of Power has bestowed upon me! An ironic name, Din's Rain, isn't it? Ha, ha, ha.... (As the meteor chunks rained down onto the roof, Zelda and Link scrambled for sturdy ground on the rooftop but to no avail as the meteor chunks destroyed the entire surrounding area of the roof except for a small patch in the center, where Ganondorf stood....) Zelda: Link! Link: We've...got no other choice. Ganondorf: Ha, ha, ha.... Come to me... Come to me... (With no other choice, Link and Zelda hopped to the small area of rooftop that Ganondorf stood in. He towered above them with a menacing glare as he signaled for the meteors to stop....) Ganondorf: I am god... That power... Is the power fit only for a King.... ME! (Ganondorf smacked Zelda once again, sending the princess off of the platform before Link caught her by her left arm before she could plunge all the way...to her death.) Link: Princess... I've got you. (Ganondorf simply watched in amusement as Link vulnerably held Zelda from her death...) Zelda: ...Link.... You can't... Link: Princess... I've got you I said... Zelda: Not even you can save me this time, Link.... Please, you must let me go.... Ganondorf... Ganondorf: That's right, Link. Don't forget about me. Ha, ha, ha.... (Ganondorf jumped up and down, shaking the already weak platform as Link struggled to hold Zelda up...) Zelda: ..... Link: Zelda, I've got you! Zelda: ....Just let go... Please.... Hyrule needs you... not me.... Link: No! Ganondorf: Ha, ha, ha.... (Ganondorf continued to jump and shake the ground as Link's grip was getting weaker...) Zelda: I'm...sorry, Link.... Thank you for everything. Link: No!!! ZELDA!!!!!!!!!!! (Zelda pulled herself away from Link's weakened grip and plunged to her death....) (Ganondorf stood behind Link and watched as she fell....) Ganondorf: The "Hero" kills the Princess.... Isn't that something? (Still visibly shaken, Link turned around and looked up at Ganondorf who stared right back at him....) Link: This....can't be how it ends.... Princess... Ganondorf: Don't live in denial. She was a thorn in both of our sides... The stage is set, figuratively... ha, ha, ha.... Care to continue where we left off? Link: .... Ganondorf: Fine then. (Ganondorf attempted to punch Link but Link in return grabbed Ganondorf's arm and hurled him off platform but before he could plunge all the way down, Ganondorf grabbed Link's arm and brought him down with him....) Ganondorf: Link! Link: Ah!... (Link was desperately holding on for dear life to the edge of the platform as the heavier Ganondorf clinged to him....) Ganondorf: Ha, ha, ha.... It seems that will we both "die" here Link.... Link: At least.... At least... I will have stopped.... your plans.... If that is the case then.... Then this death....was worth it... Ganondorf: Ha, ha, ha, ha..... Then a vain death it is, Link! Ha, ha, ha.... Link: What!? Ganondorf: My Seed of Life has already...been planted.... Regardless of my physical failings here... Spiritually, I have succeeded.... Ha, ha, ha.... Not even you Link can stop this plan.... Even had you lived.... Link: Seed of Life?.... Plan?...Wha...t...? Ganondorf: If you truly want to know then release yourself.... In death, we find out all truths even in lies....Ha, ha, ha..... Do not delay yourself from seeing my genius... Link: ...... (Link looked up at the sky one last time as he loosened his grip to the edge of the platform and like Zelda, he and Ganondorf plunged to their deaths....) Part I: The Landing Chapter 1: The Opportunist (Johan, a large island nation directly east of Hyrule's mainland and rival of Hyrule has received word of the deaths of the three Triforce bearers.... The mood of the island is one of uncertainty as the leaders of the island begin to play the gambling game...) Elias: Sir Carrogen, with the three bearers gone... Sir Carrogen IV: Anything is possible. The goddesses look favorably upon us... They must see the injustices that Hyrule has committed against her fellow nations. Elias: Truly. Are we to prepare for war then? Sir Carrogen IV: Yes. But we are not going to go about this in a rash manner, no... That just would not be wise. Elias: So what are you suggesting? Sir Carrogen IV: Johan alone cannot stop Hyrule's military even in it's current battered state. What I'm suggesting is that we advertise. Elias: Advertise? Advertise war?... Sir Carrogen IV: Not exactly. Surely we are not the only ones with a burning desire to see Hyrule's demise. But if we added a small unit of men, elite men... Men with chemistry in battle then things change... Then we have the tides in our favor. Elias: But how do we find out who exactly has a vendetta to fulfill against Hyrule?... Sir Carrogen IV: Are you a fool? Research, of course. We bring send out a man to do a bit of dirty work, snoop around the confidential files of Hyrule and seek out those who they have committed crimes against... Elias: Do you really believe they have something like that? Sir Carrogen IV: Something like what? Elias: A file or a storage place with records of who they've committed crimes against? Sir Carrogen IV: Battle records, Elias... Battle records... Hyrule wants everyone to believe that all of the "cleansing" they've been doing against the so called "evil" nations across the globe is nothing more than they're way of asserting their authority to send the rest of us a message. The survivors, if any, will certainly have a bit of a bone to pick with Hyrule, I believe. Elias: But what if the survivors are mere children and weaklings?... Sir Carrogen IV: When the downtrodden are bullied and mistreated, they often lash out in the most unpredictable and violent ways. The chance for vengeance... Is a most powerful source of ammunition for anyone who desires it.... Elias: Ah, I see now. Sir Carrogen IV: The plan is to be executed within a day. A select few are to be informed of what we are doing, the rest will find out soon enough. Get to it, Elias. Elias: Yes, Sir. (Elias ran out of the room and carried out Sir Carrogen's orders....) (The night Link, Zelda and Ganondorf died Ruto went into labor.... While Link was trying to thwart Ganondorf's plans, she was in the hospital delivering the baby. Due to the intense nature of the delivery, Ruto had passed out during the birth but the next day she awoke to find her baby boy who she named Zeno.... The baby boy was born at 1:08 a.m., at that same time both Link and Ganondorf plunged to their deaths....) (It's been 5 days since their deaths and Ruto is suffering from a major depression, each of the Sages meets with her in Link's old house in the Kokiri Forest.) Saria: Ruto... He was...a dear friend to me as well, his good-nature and commitment to us, to our survival was... *Sigh* ...I miss him. (Saria's eyes filled with tears as she stepped outside of the house and wept. Ruto simply stared at the ground as Darunia started to speak.) Darunia: He was...a brave man. A good brother. My Sworn Brother... I am angered by his death but I know that his sacrifice was for all of us... There was no doubt about it.... He and Zelda.... I don't understand all of this, I'm sorry Ruto... These words are all I can offer and I know that it is simply not enough... (Ruto looked at Darunia and again put her head down. Rauru, the Sage of Light stepped through the door and put his hand on Ruto's shoulder.) Rauru: We will make it through this.... Ruto, your mental state is vital to all of us, most importantly... To him. (Rauru pointed to baby Zeno who was sleeping peacefully in his crib. Rauru walked over to him and stared down at him... His eyes began to fill with tears now...) Rauru: When I look at him... I can see it. I can see his eyes... This boy is.... Our Link... And just as we were there for Link, we must be here for him... (Rauru closed his eyes and leaned over the crib, he felt a hand touch his left shoulder... He opened his eyes and turned around, it was Ruto.) Rauru: Ruto? (Ruto looked at baby Zeno and said...) Ruto: We will make it. I....I will never get over their deaths.... But... I have Zeno now... And you all...as well. I know that I must be here for him.... He is my son. He is the link to his father. (Saria walked back inside, with her was Impa and Nabooru. Each of the Sages formed a circle and hovered around baby Zeno as they watched him slowly open his eyes from his peaceful sleep.) (Meanwhile in the swamps of a small buffer state between Hyrule and Johan known as Kumudu, Elias the servant of Sir Carrogen walks through the area with a small group of soldiers. They have received word of a small group that is interested in challenging Hyrule...) Elias: Anyone who could possibly live in this filth HAS to be insane... They'll be perfect. Byran: Very true... (They continue through the swamps when they reached their destination, a small section of land in the swamp with a old, rundown white house...) Elias: This...is it? Byran: You tell us. Elias: I wasn't expecting a mansion but at least... Ah nothing, let's go in. (They stepped inside of the house, it was beaten down as if it had been destroyed in some type of military attack, the windows were shattered, there was no door and the stench inside reeked of death....) Elias: Eww.... Disgusting. Byran: You can say that again... Who could possibly live in a place like.... (Byran stopped talking when Elias signaled that something or someone was behind him. Before he turned around, he felt a giant presence tower over him.) Byran: Oh... (Byran turned around to see a huge figure looking down at him.) Elias: ...Hel....lo?... Were you...the one... (The man slammed the "advertisement" on the table in front of Elias and said...) ???: This your work? Elias: Uh, uh, yes. You're the one who...replied? ???: Depends. Elias: On...what? ???: Your price. Elias: Uh... Payment? Um... ???: If you pay well, my boys and I will join whatever it is that you've been advertising all over the islands. Elias: Well, I...I'm not sure...about payment... ???: And you were expecting this to get done for free? Elias: ... ???: You're not the man in charge. Who are you? Elias: ...Elias, a messenger of Sir Carrogen IV from Johan. ???: Hmm.... So Johan has some issues with Hyrule and why is that? Elias: I cannot get into that unless you... ???: Unless I what? Join you? Ha. When you come to these swamps, you don't want to be making idle threats. Believe me. Elias: ... *Sigh* Listen, I'm unsure about payment but if you come along with us, I'm sure we can work something out. How about it? ???: Now you listen. I don't know and I really don't care about Johan's little grudge against Hyrule. If I wanted to go out and do a bit of internal damage to Hyrule, I'd do it myself. I don't need you or your country. What I need is money and if I can get that as well as give Hyrule some more much needed payback, then it will make our little agreement go smoother. Elias: I've given you a deal. ???: You didn't give me the right answer. If you want to try and screw around with me, you're wasting your time. But since you and I both seem to have the same goal, the two of us can work something out as far as payment. Elias: What do you mean? ???: You're a servant of the Carrogen himself, right? Elias: Yes... His personal servant or right hand man as they say. ???: And that means that you get paid a pretty rupee, I'm guessing. If you say yes, you're gonna be the one to pay me and if you say no, then you're an idiot for being another man's slave. Elias: I, I... *Sigh* How much do you want? ???: 300,000 rupees. Elias: 300,000 RUPEES!? What are you going to do with all of that?! ???: It's gonna be split 5 ways between me and my team. Elias: And where are they!? ???: They've been here the whole time. Guys. (A door opens from the floor and out comes the man's 4 friends.) Elias: Ah.... (Elias turned and looked at Byran who was still silent.) Elias: Byran? What do I do...? (Byran shrugged his shoulders and looked away. Elias turned back towards the man again.) ???: What are you gonna do? (Elias stood still for a minute and blurted out...) Elias: Yes, yes... ???: Smart move. (Elias' expression was one of a mix of shock, confusion and horror as the large man lit a lantern in the room and revealed himself to be a Zora, a large Zora about 6'8 with incredibly long arms and a hardened face....) Byran: You all are....Zoras! ???: Yup. And it's Eagles. The name's Eagles. George Eagles. |

Chapter 2: Enter the Outlaws (After recruiting Eagles, Elias and his men traveled the seas back to Johan. Once arriving, they headed straight for the castle in secret to meet with Carrogen in his private room.) Elias: Sir. These are the men that I found... (Eagles and his friends stood in the background watching Carrogen's movements and the surrounding area around them while Elias continued to talk.) Elias: They're from Kumudu, that old island that wiped out a few months ago, remember? (Carrogen IV didn't answer but instead walked up to Eagles and looked up at him while Eagles stared down at him.) Eagles: You're the big boss, I see. Carrogen IV: How old are you? Eagles: Ha. 17. Carrogen IV: Hmm... You have the face of someone who's endured much. But still you're young. How much combat could you possibly know? I can tell that you have the physical attributes but... I need men with experience. I appreciate the support that you and your friends have given my cause but... Eagles: You're rejecting us? Carrogen IV: Of course. I need soldiers, even if you've endured a harsh life, I've no need for children. (Carrogen IV turned towards Elias.) Carrogen IV: I suppose I should have specified... But I expect a little more from you Elias. You've wasted all of our times... Eagles: Wait a minute. I didn't make this trip so that I could get denied! (Carrogen looked back at Eagles, who was now visibly furious.) Carrogen IV: You have passion. Hmm... What exactly has caused your fury for Hyrule? Eagles: To hell with you. (Eagles turned and started to walk away, his men followed suit before a group of guards stopped them. Angered, Eagles looked back at Carrogen IV with a glare that could pierce skin.) Carrogen IV: When I ask a man a question within my quarters, I expect an answer. Turn your back on me again, Zora and I promise that you and your friends will be the evening stew. (Eagles' team became livid with that remark but they calmed down when Eagles signaled for them to stop.) Eagles: Are you going to let us join? Carrogen IV: I've said what I needed to say. All I simply want is my question answered and then you're free to go. (Eagles paused for a moment and just stared Carrogen down before speaking...) Eagles: It was after the raid that Hyrule did on Kumudu. My mother and older brother were killed...By Hylian soldiers. There. (Eagles turned to walk away but Carrogen stopped him once again.) Carrogen IV: After the raid? You're family was killed after the raid? Eagles: Yes. (Again, Eagles tried to push through the guards but Carrogen stopped him.) Carrogen IV: Your father, where was he? Eagles: Dead. Killed in action. He served as a Captain in Hyrule's Navy. Carrogen IV: Why then would Hylian soldiers kill the family of a military man? You've left something out. Eagles: You really like testing others limits, don't you? Carrogen IV: We find out what kind of men we are when our limits are tested. But you already knew that, didn't you? Eagles: .... Carrogen IV: You can continue. I'm interested now. Eagles: The dirty politics of Hyrule is what got my father killed. You remember the scandal of Koholint Island, don't you? Carrogen IV: Yes. 10 men were executed in what they claimed was an attempted robbery of Mabe Village's Rupee Reserve by a couple of rogue war veterans. You're father was involved in that? Eagles: You got it. But there were "rogues" involved. It was all preplanned by that fat piece of slime known as the King of Hyrule to fill his greedy pockets with even more riches. When the plan soured, the King of Hyrule needed to keep his cover so he killed the 10 men "directly involved," my father being one of them. And because the families of the victims were aware of this setup, we were relocated to strategically distanced islands apart from each other so that we couldn't unite and expose Hyrule. I was too young to do anything about it then so here I am now. Carrogen IV: My, my. Hyrule is most certainly a despicable nation, is it not? Eagles: I said what you wanted me to say, I'm out of here now. (Eagles headed for the door along with his men. The guards attempted to stop them but Carrogen told them to let them pass as they each left the castle and headed into the town. Elias looked at Carrogen and began to speak.) Elias: You're just going to simply allow them to leave like that? Carrogen IV: We need that man to execute this plan. And he will return. Or...we will find him once again. Elias: Why not just get him now? Carrogen IV: Because he's going to do something to solidify his place in this operation. Elias: Huh?... Carrogen IV: I never intended for this operation to go through quickly. There is much planning that needs to be done and resources that need to be acquired. We will not execute until we have completely perfected our strategy and most importantly our goal. Elias: But can't... Carrogen IV: I am not a heartless man, Elias. I will not send children out to battle no matter how great their passion or potential. It is going to be a long process but believe me, Elias. The results will be worth it and the spoils will be ours. Link and Zelda are not coming back, we've no reason to rush. Trust me, Elias. (Elias nodded his head and left the room as Carrogen IV sat back in his chair and pondered the situation....) Edited by Bx, Mar 9 2011, 01:38:52 AM.

(Two weeks passed since Carrogen IV's meeting with Eagles and he had since left after being rejected.... Hyrule on the other hand was firmly on the road to recovery since the death of Link and the others as well as the destruction of Hyrule Castle. Because the repairs were not complete, the King and his council used a town hall located in Kakariko Village as their meeting area and it is here where the Sages have been summoned to....) King of Hyrule: Today is a new day, a new dawn in our history... We all... (The King of Hyrule paused and put his head down.) (A tear was visible on the King's face as he lifted his head up once again and began speaking again.) King of Hyrule: I'm sorry, we all lost people who were very dear to us but.... they all made the ultimate sacrifice for us, for our cause and I believe, no, I know that they would not want us to simply grieve endlessly because of their deaths... We have to adapt to life without them and remember what they meant to us and the fact is we will never forget them but.... We must move on... (The Sages each looked around at each other after hearing the King's words, they were silent until Impa, the Sage of Shadow started to speak...) Impa: You are right, your highness... We must do that. It is going to be hard, no doubt, but as you said, they would not want us to dwell on this... We have to rebuild Hyrule. We have gotten complacent, we cannot give in to that type of attitude especially now. We... *Looks at Ruto and pauses* We relied on Link far too much... We are vulnerable now. The threat level against Hyrule is at it's greatest since Ganondorf's first appearance, we must protect Hyrule. King of Hyrule: You raise a very good point Impa. The threats against us are very real. This is the time when all of Hyrule must band together for the love of this great country. Darunia: Who are the threats to Hyrule, your highness? King of Hyrule: Many are jealous of our wealth... And many of our former allies have turned against us because they believe the false rumors spread by our jealous rivals. Darunia: ...I see. Nabooru: The deserts are protected, we Gerudo have always done well protecting that sacred land. In the event that something were to happen, our region is secure. King of Hyrule: Are you saying that you will only protect the desert? Nabooru: Gerudo serve the desert first, your highness. King of Hyrule: Nabooru, that's quite selfish. Nabooru: Would you have preferred that I lie? I understand that this threat is real and I realize that I am a Sage but I was a leader amongst my people before all of this and they are my first priority. King of Hyrule: That type of attitude will bring Hyrule's downfall. Nabooru: I am merely telling you the truth. I pray nothing occurs that threatens our existence but in the event, you know what I am going to do, what we Gerudo are going to do. (Nabooru walked out and left Kakariko Village. The other Sages all looked at the King who seemed to be boiling with anger after Nabooru's actions.) Darunia: Well, I don't know what's eating her but the Gorons will defend Hyrule as best they can and you can count on that! King of Hyrule: ...Thank you, Darunia. But I think it's time that this meeting end, I need to analyze everything with my council. Thank you all for coming, you may go now. (The Sages left. The King took a seat and tried to calm down when a group of ten noblemen walked in. Each of them took a seat around a circular table and they all began to speak of plans for Hyrule's future.) 4 Hours Later... (Night has fallen on Hyrule and the meeting has concluded. Each of the ten noblemen leave the town hall as a group and as they move through Hyrule Field towards the Castle Town, a few of them begin to feel a presence around them.) Noblemen 7: I don't know what it is but I feel like we're being followed. Noblemen 4: I thought I was the only one but yeah, I feel it too. We should head home quickly. Noblemen 10: Bah! You two are paranoid. Afraid of the dark is all it is, no need to rush home. Noblemen 2: I agree. We're noblemen...and... *Looks around* What happened to....everyon..... AHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Next Day (The bodies of the ten noblemen were found slaughtered, their throats had been slit with a straight-edge....) |

(Upon hearing of the news of the noblemen massacre, the King of Hyrule became paranoid and summoned the Sages once again. Aside from Nabooru and Ruto, each of the Sages appeared at the King's current residence in Kakariko.) Darunia: Calm down, your highness! (The King was pacing back and forth shaking with fear with an uneasy look on his face.) King of Hyrule: No... No... I can't. They're coming for me. They want me. That was a message, they're sending me a message. Saria: Who? King of Hyrule: My enemies. They've all allied themselves against me. I know it! Impa: You know for sure? King of Hyrule: Yes, yes! We are under attack, Hyrule is in a state of emergency! Rauru: Your highness, I do not think such has occurred. (The King stopped pacing and glared harshly at Rauru.) King of Hyrule: What do you know!? You think I'm crazy now?! Is that it!? Impa: Your highness, it would be in your best interest to calm down! King of Hyrule: No. No! I will not. We have to defend ourselves, we have to attack! Impa: We are in no condition... King of Hyrule: I govern Hyrule! And if I say we're going to attack, we are going to attack!!!! Impa: ... King of Hyrule: *Breathing heavily* Now I want each of you to alert your respective people and tell them of the situation. Rauru: We will not. King of Hyrule: Are you defying me? How dare you! Rauru: We will have no part in sending Hyrule into a meaningless war with enemies who aren't even there! King of Hyrule: Then how do you explain ten noblemen each being slaughtered merely minutes after meeting with me? That is no coincidence! That is a declaration of war from my enemies! Rauru: We don't even know who your enemies are! King of Hyrule: And I'm beginning to question who my "allies" are! Impa: Are you implying that we are conspiring against you? King of Hyrule: Possibly. I wouldn't put it past any of you especially that desert whore.... Darunia: Your highness! Rauru: You've gone mad! King of Hyrule: No, no, no... I've opened my eyes.... That's what I've done. I lost my daughter, my most loyal soldier, my residence and now I'm stuck with a group of jealous conspirators and enemies surrounding me on all sides. Impa: Please, your highness... We are here to help you. Just relax.... Please. King of Hyrule: I should have seen it from the beginning... Saria: Your highness, we are not trying to hurt you. We really do want to help you.... Just please listen to us. (The King stopped and looked at Saria, who had a grave look in her eyes. Seeing her eyes had a calming effect on the King, who sighed deeply and then proceeded to take a seat at the head of his dining table.) Darunia: Are you willing to listen to us now? King of Hyrule: .... Rauru: *Sigh* Now we all realize that what happened to those noblemen is an ominous sign that someone or something is out to harm Hyrule but.... at this present moment, we do not know what. Therefore, we cannot act on rash impulses... that will only lead us to far more devastating consequences. King of Hyrule: ...Then what are we to do? If they killed those noblemen... What's going to stop whoever it was from killing me as well? Impa: We will protect you, your highness. Do not worry for your safety. Remember, I guarded Zelda safely during Ganondorf's rule all of those years ago. I am a Sheikah, my duty is to you and to you first. King of Hyrule: *Breathing heavily* ...Ok, ok... good, good... Yes. Rauru: Now even though your life is protected, the rest of Hyrule needs protection as well. Link was able to save us from much peril for many years but... he is no longer here. This fact has led us to understand that we, the Sages are Hyrule's first line of defense in case of an unexpected attack. King of Hyrule: Yes, I like hearing that. Rauru: But we are not the long term solution. We will have to protect Hyrule for as long as deemed necessary but at the same time, we must prepare our next vanguard.... King of Hyrule: The boy? Rauru: Yes. The son of Link, Zeno. We must train him and prepare him for the responsibilities that come with his role. King of Hyrule: ...And Ruto? What has she said on the matter? Rauru: She does not approve of our wishes but...she understands that her son must be the one to protect us in the future. King of Hyrule: *Sigh* ...And when will the training start? Darunia: As soon as possible. The boy is not even a year old yet so obviously, we cannot start now. However, around the age of 5 or so... We will begin. King of Hyrule: But that's five years from now! Rauru: Indeed it is. We can only hope that the heavens will protect us until Zeno is ready. King of Hyrule: ...Hyrule's fate will be determined by a dice roll.... *Sigh* Madness. Darunia: It's all we have, your highness. We all must do our best. King of Hyrule: I see. Impa: I will be your personal bodyguard once again, your highness. Your life is my first priority. King of Hyrule: Thank you, Impa. And thank you all. I apologize for acting so irrational earlier, it's just been so hard.... Rauru: These are the times when all of our wills are tested. But perseverance is our only option. King of Hyrule: You are right. Once again, thank you all. I suppose this meeting can now end. Darunia: Don't mention it, your highness. Rauru: Good day, your highness and please relax. Everything will be alright. Saria: He's right, your highness. The people need you to be calm and collected now more than ever. King of Hyrule: Yes, yes. Wise words once again. Thank you. Good bye. (All of the Sages left for Zora's Domain to visit Ruto except for Impa who stayed to guard the King's life.) |

(Johan received news of the noblemen massacre and upon hearing such, Carrogen IV was elated as he held the morning paper to his servant Elias' face showing him the story of the tragedy.) Carrogen IV: Hyrule's defenses are pathetically weak at this point, Elias. And this particular story proves it. You see, our plan is no longer in it's conception stages and it's no longer a matter of if we attack Hyrule but when! Elias: But sir, did you have anything to do with this?... Carrogen IV: No... Not directly anyway. Heh. Elias: What's that supposed to mean? Carrogen IV: This massacre is a very potent and very direct message meant not only for the King of Hyrule but also...for me. Elias: You mean... That, that Zora! Carrogen IV: Yes... Eagles and his little friends are letting us know that they're not playing around. They've taken matters into their own hands. Elias: But how do you know sir? Carrogen IV: Ha, ha, ha. I don't. Not for sure anyway. But at the same time... I know it was him, I know it was them. Elias, those men were a great find. As I said before, they're angry. They're violent. They have a passion for this, one that our native men simply do not understand. Elias: But...Aren't they nothing more than thugs? Carrogen IV: Yes, they are brutish, I admit that but what do you think we need in war? Elias: Sir... And they're so young, are you truly reconsidering your decision this early? Carrogen IV: Of course not. Heh. But we're going to get those men now. I want you to find them once again and.... "Hey! You can't just barge...... AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (Ripping and shredding sounds could be heard in the background of the blood curdling screams. Elias rushed to the door to shut it but was backed into the room by...) Carrogen IV: Eagles!? (Eagles held Elias' neck in his monstrous hand as he and his group marched in through the room. Seeing this, Carrogen IV's eyes widened and the naturally smug look on his face was wiped clean and replaced with an expression of pure horror...) Carrogen IV: *Shaking* Eagles.... what are you doing...? (Eagles didn't respond, instead he lifted Elias in the air by the neck and held him there strangling for a minute as Carrogen IV pleaded for his servant's life.) Carrogen IV: Elias! Eagles, please!! Put him down! Put Elias down! Please! (Eagles strangled Elias' neck tighter as Carrogen IV continued to plead. Seeing that Elias was beginning to turn a deep purple, he dropped him to the ground and watched as Carrogen IV rushed to his aid.) Eagles: Now you're the one pleading with me for what you want. It's interesting when the shoe is on the other foot, is it not? (Carrogen IV tried to wake Elias up but to no avail.) Eagles: You know what we want. And on top of service in your little army, we're also demanding 120,000 rupees. Carrogen IV: What!? Eagles: That's our offer. Carrogen IV: ...Where are my guards!? Eagles: Brian's got something that they want. Something that I guess they feel is more valuable than you. Hell, maybe you even think that what Brian has is more valuable than you. Carrogen IV: What?! Eagles: Little Carrogen. (Hearing this, Carrogen IV shot up and looked at Eagles.) Carrogen IV: My son! Where is my son!? Eagles: Brian has him. Carrogen IV: Who the hell is the Brian!? Eagles: Ha. That's right, I haven't introduced the team. (Eagles pointed at each of his men and started to speak.) Eagles: This guy right next to me is Ritchie Gein. The guy to my left is Justin Gacy. That guy right there next to Ritchie is Larry Bundy. And the guy that has your kid is Brian Manson. (Carrogen IV ran out of the room and saw a Zora with his young one year old son, Carrogen V in his hand. He also noted that the walls were splattered with blood that spelled out the word, "Outlawz" Carrogen IV: What is this...? Give me my son!... (Brian handed Carrogen IV his son and went to stand next to Eagles and the others who now circled around Carrogen IV like a group of hungry vultures.) Eagles: Is this enough for you? (Carrogen IV fell to his knees with his son in his hand and nodded in agreement...) Eagles: Good. Ten Hylian noblemen have died as a result of your words as well. Carrogen IV: Ok... Ok.... But please, no more. Eagles: No problem. We want to work with you, not against you. (Eagles walked towards Carrogen IV and knelt down to speak to him.) Eagles: And you see that little tag right there. *Points to the bloody Outlawz marking on the wall* That's what you can call us. Carrogen IV: ... Eagles: Now call your soldiers off. (Carrogen IV got up and halted his men from advancing against Eagles' group.) Eagles: That makes all of our lives a lot easier. We'll be waiting at that bar in town. (Eagles and the "Outlawz" left the castle. Carrogen IV stood up with his son in hand and surveyed the carnage in horror before touching the bloody Outlawz graffiti on the wall.....) |

(Rauru, Saria and Darunia took a trip to Zora's Domain to visit Ruto, who was resting in her chambers before the three of them came.) Ruto: Oh, hello everyone. How did the meeting go? Saria: Pretty bad at first.... Ruto: Really? What happened? Darunia: The old King has gone paranoid. He thinks everyone is out to get 'im! He even accused us of plotting against him! Ruto: *Covers mouth in disbelief* Oh my... Rauru: On a more positive note, we did get him to calm down and... (Rauru shifted his eyes towards Zeno, who was sleeping his crib. Seeing this, Ruto looked at Zeno and put her head down.) Ruto: So... he agreed...? Darunia: ...Yep. (Ruto slowly walked over to Zeno's crib and looked down at him, he was sleeping peacefully...) Ruto: *Sigh* ...Such a big burden to put on a little child, isn't it? Rauru: ... Darunia: Ruto, I don't like the idea but.... Ruto: No, I understand. *Sigh* I suppose it was bound to happen eventually... Darunia: Hey, look at the bright side. We may not even need little Zeno. You know? The gods and goddesses smile down upon Hyrule when we are in need. Ruto: ...That's what worries me. Darunia: What do ya mean? Rauru: Hyrule's overdue for a catastrophe.... Darunia: But it wasn't long ago that we had to deal with that oaf Ganondorf! Saria: Guys, can we talk about something else? It's just been so negative these days.... No one ever seems happy... *Sigh* (Saria put her head down and sat on the floor. Ruto walked to where she was at and sat next to her.) Ruto: I'm sorry. I know I'm a bit melancholy these days and... Saria: No. No, don't be sorry. These are sad times but... I don't know. I don't know what I want... (Ruto wrapped one of her arms around Saria and started to speak.) Ruto: We're all in this together. We have a unique bond, you know? *Smiles* Look at us. Saria: *Smiles* That's the first time I've seen you smile in a while! Ruto: *Laughs* I know. I, I feel better now. I feel like I can go on again. Darunia: Ha, ha, ha! Now that's the attitude that I like to hear from you guys! Since we're all in a good mood now.... Saria, do you mind? (Saria gave Darunia a funny look.) Darunia: Ah, don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about! (Saria paused for a moment and then...) Saria: Oh! Yeah! *Laughs* (Saria jumped up and pulled out her Ocarina and began playing her song. Hearing Saria's Song made Darunia go nuts, he started dancing like a maniac while everyone laughed hysterically at the big Goron's wild dance moves.) Darunia: Oooh! Ah! Oooh! Ah! Ah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! That's it! WHOO! (While everyone watched Darunia dance around, baby Zeno slowly opened his eyes and started smiling.....) (Across the Great Hylian Ocean at Johan, Eagles and the Outlawz sat at the bar in town and were mentioning their plans while the nervous citizens inside the bar watched them in fear of their lives....) Gein: That's 24,000 rupees split between each of us.... Do you realize how many rupees that is!?! Manson: A hell of a lot more than what we've got now.... Gacy: We should've got the rupees when we had Carrogen begging for his servant's life! There's no guarantee that they'll give it to us now... Bundy: Maybe. But we could just go in and do what we did again, right? Eagles: No. Not even close... Gacy: Why not? Eagles: We were lucky for one thing. And also, these guys are our partners now. We're in business. If we do what we're supposed to do, we'll get our money... The rupees are just a bonus... Manson: But it would have been nice to have gotten them then. Eagles: Err... Manson: What? Eagles: ...Nothing. (A man dressed in dark gray armor stepped into the bar and walked over to Eagles and the Outlawz.) ???: I assume that you all are the "Outlawz?" Eagles: That would be a correct assumption. You're the guy Carrogen is sending out for us? ???: Something like that. Eagles: Got a name? ???: Call me Aston. Gein: Aston? Aston: Yes. Eagles: So what's your business Aston, does Carrogen want to see us or not? Aston: Not all of you. Just you, Eagles. Eagles: And why not my friends? Aston: Sir Carrogen does not tell me of these things. Just come with me. Eagles: No. Not unless my boys can go with me. Aston: Listen, I can assure you that this is no trap or setup or anything. Eagles: I don't listen to snooty types like you so your words don't mean anything to me. Aston: Argh.... Ok. They can come as well but once we reach Sir Carrogen's chambers, only you go in. Eagles: I can deal with that. Come on guys. (Eagles and the Outlawz followed Aston back up to Carrogen IV's room. As requested, Eagles walked in alone and found Carrogen there with Elias, who had since woken up.) Eagles: So what's the big secret? Carrogen IV: *Puzzled* Secret? Eagles: Yeah. You don't want my boys to hear whatever it is that you're gonna tell me. Carrogen IV: Ha. George, do you think that I'm that stupid? I know you'll run and tell your friends whatever we say in here. Actually, I want you too. Eagles: So why couldn't they come in? Carrogen IV: Because I'm going to officially give you a title... Eagles: What? A title? Carrogen IV: Yes. You have all the qualities that fit this particular title and in battle, people will respect it's name. Eagles: Is that so? Carrogen IV: Yes. Elias. (Elias went into a back room and came out with a box and a uniform and handed it to Eagles, who looked at it suspiciously.) Eagles: What's this? Carrogen IV: Gifts. Eagles: Gifts? Listen, if you think that this means our rupee deal is off then... Carrogen IV: No, no. These are honorary and I plan to honor our agreement. But these gifts are part of your end of the bargain. Eagles: Are they? A uniform and... (Eagles opened up the box and saw...) Eagles: A Butterfly knife? Carrogen IV: Yes. It was a gift that I was going to bestow upon my son when he reached the proper age... however.... From what I have seen, you are more fitting of that gift. Eagles: And what about your kid? Carrogen IV: He will receive enough in due time. Eagles: I see. Carrogen IV: And now that you have that. Go into that back room that Elias came out of and put the uniform on. (Eagles gave Carrogen IV a strange look but simply did as he was told and came back out fully dressed in his uniform.) Carrogen IV: Impressive. Eagles: What the hell is all of this? Carrogen IV: You're going to be the one Eagles... You. You're the single most important man now in my army. Eagles: Am I? What about that Aston character? He seemed to have a bit of status. Carrogen IV: I trust my instinct. Oh and before I forget, you and your men will be allowed to sleep in the back room of chambers. Eagles: Why the nice treatment all of a sudden? Carrogen IV: Because what I saw only mere hours ago..... enticed me. Eagles: What? All of that carnage? Carrogen IV: Ha, ha, ha.... You are modest. Carnage makes it sound like it was barbaric, no... What you and your men did was a work of art.... The style, the chemistry between you and your men, that type of leadership. That is what Johan has been lacking. Eagles: Err.... Carrogen IV: And because of such... (Carrogen IV stood up and put his hand on Eagles' high right shoulder.) Carrogen IV: You are now, General George Eagles! Eagles: General... (Eagles thought about what just took place as Carrogen IV stared at him with an eerie almost possessed smile on his face.....) |

(After receiving his new title, Eagles left Carrogen's chambers to go see his friends who were astonished by Eagles' new position and responsibilities.) Gein: You sure that this isn't some type of setup? Eagles: I don't think so... But honestly, I couldn't tell you. Manson: You've got to be one of the youngest generals in history... Gacy: 17 years old, I'd say so. Bundy: Either way, I'm happy for you man. This is the first step to success. Eagles: I guess so. ...Funny though... Bundy: What? Eagles: My dad never received such a high rank in the military... And he served for over 20 years.... Gacy: So what's the problem? Eagles: I don't know, just seems kind of empty. Like I haven't done anything to earn it. Gein: Well, we'll just prove it when we finally march through Hyrule and get all of those rupees! Eagles: ... (Over the next five years, Eagles and the Outlawz trained with the Johan military in preparation for the attack on Hyrule, which was kept under wraps from all but the highest ranking members of the military and the Outlawz, of course. Throughout the training, Eagles and Carrogen IV developed a strong bond with one another, almost like a father and son as Eagles continued to show signs that he would live up to the potential that Carrogen IV believed he had.....) (The panicked state that Hyrule had been in directly after Link and Zelda's death had slowly evaporated within those 5 years but even with peace, the Sages kept their promise to the King and began training the 5 year old Zeno to become the next protector of Hyrule....) The Lost Woods... (Darunia, who served as Zeno's mentor worked with Zeno deep in the Lost Woods on the art of proper sword technique.) Darunia: Hold it like this, Zeno. (Darunia held a wooden sword up as if he was getting ready to strike before handing it to Zeno.) Darunia: Now you try. (Zeno did as he was told and held the sword in the same fashion as Darunia.) Darunia: Ah... Your stance is a bit different from Link's. You're right-handed I see. Zeno: ...Huh? Darunia: Nothing. Now slash at this posted sign here. (Zeno took a hack and hit the sign with all of his might before Darunia grabbed the wooden sword out of his hand.) Darunia: No. With more uh.... finesse. Zeno: Huh? Darunia: You know, finesse... Err.... Zeno: Oh, oh, I get it. (Zeno ran out of the Lost Woods as fast as he could... Shocked, Darunia quickly chased after.) Darunia: Zeno! Stop! Where are you going!? (But Zeno didn't stop until he had reached his father's home where his mother watched in amusement as she saw Darunia recklessly chasing after him.) Zeno: Mama! (Zeno climbed up the ladder and hugged Ruto before Darunia climbed up the ladder himself, huffing out of breath.) Darunia: Zeno *Huff* what do ya think you're doing out there? *Huff* *Huff* Why'd ya make me run like that? *Huff* (Zeno let go of Ruto, turned to look at Darunia and said...) Zeno: Cause you said, "Finish!" (Darunia put his head down and blushed...) Darunia: ...Finesse... Not finish... (Ruto started to chuckle as Darunia shook his head in disapproval....) Zeno: Oh..... But why that not same thing? Darunia: ...*Sigh* I think we can just take a break for today. Later Ruto and you too, Z. Zeno: Z? Who Z? Darunia: *Laughing* Yeah. It's a nickname for ya. Ruto: He's 5 years old, Darunia and of all names.... Z? Darunia: Fits him perfectly. Ruto: And why's that? Darunia: *Laughing* Later guys. (Darunia left the house without answering Ruto's question and headed to the restored Hyrule Castle to see the King. After the long walk, Darunia reached the King's chamber and went inside.) King of Hyrule: Darunia! Good to see you. Darunia: Hello, your highness. (Darunia noticed another man dressed in dark gray armor standing next to the King.) King of Hyrule: So how goes the boy? Is he showing the signs? Darunia: ...Not exactly. But he is only 5. King of Hyrule: Yes, yes. It is too early to tell, I suppose. Ah yes, I have not introduced you to the latest edition to the Hylian Army. (The King pointed to the man dressed in the gray armor.) King of Hyrule: This is Aston, our new General of foot patrol. (Aston extended his hand to Darunia who accepted and they shook.) Darunia: ...No disrespect to you Aston or you your highness but... How has a new recruit been promoted to General? King of Hyrule: What do you mean? Aston saved good Hylian lives when he rescued a shipwrecked crew sinking into the ocean! And I figured a man like that must be a great general to have besides he has an established record working for the Kingdom of Holodrum to the south! Darunia: ...Ok. King of Hyrule: And not only because of this, Darunia. Aston has also given me word that Holodrum is planning to attack us! Darunia: Attack us? What?! Aston: Yes. I'm in good with the higher ups of Holodrum and they've been planning to attack Hyrule for years ever since the death of the Great One. Darunia: Is that so? And why have you decided to help us, Mr. Aston? Aston: Because Holodrum's ruler, Rommel has lost his mind. He's become tyrannical.... He must be stopped at all costs! And the Hylian army is the greatest in the world... Darunia: I see. King of Hyrule: That's right, Darunia. And now.... We will attack Holodrum with full force! Ha, ha, ha! As Aston said, we are the greatest army in the world! Darunia: What?! Attacking? No. Your highness! King of Hyrule: Bah. Enough with your foolish pacifism. My enemies will know their rightful fate. Darunia: But that will surely lead to war! King of Hyrule: So be it! I've already sent the lead forces across the seas. Darunia: Are you mad!? Aston, how could you!? Aston: I cannot allow for my King's tyranny to continue. I will help defeat him as well. Darunia: ... Do the other Sages know? King of Hyrule: Impa knows of course, as for the others... You can tell them I suppose. Darunia: .... *Under his breath* Madness... I leave now, your highness. King of Hyrule: Yes, yes. (Darunia ran out of the castle and headed for the Temple of Time to see Rauru.) Darunia: Rauru! (Rauru turned around and saw the panicked look on Darunia's face.) Rauru: What is it, Darunia!? Darunia: War! Rauru: War? No.... Darunia: With Holodrum... The King has lost it. (Darunia explained the situation to Rauru. Alarmed, Rauru summoned each of the Sages to come to the Temple of Time.....) |

(Each of the Sages and the young Zeno appeared hastily at the Temple of Time where Darunia and Rauru waited. After Darunia explained the situation, the Sages had gone into a panicked uproar, they knew that Hyrule was in no condition to go to war.) Saria: *Crying* How could he do this?.... How could the King launch us into war....? Impa: He's lost his mind... I've tended to him for 5 years now and...ever since Princess Zelda's death.... *Sigh* (Ruto held Zeno from running around the Temple, the young boy had no understanding of the depth of the situation but even he could tell that something was wrong and he began to ask questions...) Zeno: Mama, what's going on? Ruto: Um... It's... uh... (Darunia approached the two of them.) Darunia: May as well tell him, Ruto. Not even children are allowed a place of comfort in war... Holodrum will strike back no doubt. Zeno: Huh? Wha...? Mama, what he talking about? Ruto: *Sigh* Nothing... Nothing Zeno... (Zeno gave Ruto a curious look.) Zeno: You sure? Darunia: Ruto. (Ruto turned to Darunia.) Ruto: He wouldn't know anyway... My son doesn't need to be frightened. Darunia: And seeing Saria bawling with tears doesn't frighten him? Ruto: Darunia please! Darunia: ...Fine. He's your... BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (A series of loud explosions outside rocked the Temple of Time as they were accompanied by an equally eerie series of blood curdling screams...) (Zeno screamed loudly in horror and began to cry as the rest of the Sages scrambled in a panic to find out what happened outside.) Saria: *Shaking* ...Wha.... Wha.... What could...it have...been...? Rauru: *Frightened* It couldn't have been Holodrum could it?... Darunia: ... Rauru: Darunia... You and I will go check outside... Darunia: ... (Darunia took a big gulp before walking out of the Temple of Time with Rauru.... Ruto and the other Sages tried to calm Zeno down as he continued to cry out of fear....) 10 minutes later.... (Darunia and Rauru still hadn't come back.... The other Sages grew worried...) Nabooru: It's been too long. Ruto... You and Saria stay. Impa and I will find out what happened to Darunia and Rauru. Saria: No! If something happened to them... We can't let the same thing happen to you two as well! Impa: Saria... You are trying to hide your tears from us... But we can still see that you are terribly frightened....as we all are... And.... *Sigh* I cannot do this. Nabooru: Fine. I will find out what happened. If I am not back within 5 minutes, consider the three of us dead and do whatever you can to find refuge... Ruto: Nabooru... I can't let you do that. (Nabooru turned to Ruto.) Nabooru: I am warmed by your concern Ruto but... of all of us, you must survive, you have a precious child to care for and we must do what we can to protect both you and him. Ruto: But... Nabooru: Remember what I said. 5 minutes. (Nabooru left the Temple of Time but in spite of what she said, the remaining three Sages ran after her. And once outside, they saw the horror...) Saria: Oh....oh no... no... no... no.... (Hyrule Castle Town had been decimated... Men, women, children, animals all mercilessly slaughtered simply laying on the ground with their bloody wounds pouring blood from their deceased bodies... The flames of Hell had rained on the town as every building burned with a demon flame....) (Traces of an army were spotted throughout the wreckage. And in the backdrop of it all was Rauru and Darunia standing with barren, painful expressions that illustrated the Hell that surrounded them....) (Ruto covered the terrified Zeno's eyes from the catastrophe surrounding them as each of the Sages met together once again.) Impa: I can't believe it.... Darunia: ... Nabooru: Holodrum..... Rauru: No. Not at all... *Sigh* Nabooru: What?... (Rauru held a bloody sword and shield in front of Nabooru's face and pointed to the prominent coat of arms that decorated each weapon.) Nabooru: Johan?... They...they did this...? (A silhouette appeared from the path to Hyrule Castle, it was the King of Hyrule...in chains and being humiliatingly dragged by one man, Sir Carrogen IV and his surrounding army including Aston...) Rauru: You traitor!... (Aston scoffed at Rauru.) Aston: Blame your naive and paranoid King. Rauru: We will fight you.... We will fight you all... (Carrogen IV let go of the King and walked up to Rauru, standing nose to nose with the Sage.) Carrogen IV: Hyrule was long overdue for this. Corrupt superpowers do not last long in this world. Johan will be viewed as the savior of the common man with it's defeat of the "invincible" giant that is or was Hyrule. No longer will the rest of the world beckon to the every whim of this fool you call a King in fear of being mercilessly attacked. You shed tears for your fallen men but we have only replicated an act committed by this country several times since the start of Hyrule's Great Prosperity after Ganondorf's defeat. Rauru: ... Carrogen IV: You "Sages" have turned a blind eye to the suffering of those around you and the corruption that your sovereign has continuously committed. Hyrule's bullying tactics are no more. And I, Sir Carrogen IV of the nation of Johan am officially declaring myself ruler and sole authority over the nation of Hyrule. Nabooru: Never! I do not bow to you! Rauru: You will not take Hyrule without a fight from each of us! Bring your men forward. Carrogen IV: If that is the route that you choose to take then so be it. (Carrogen IV raised his left arm but instead of the army behind him charging at the Sages, each of the Sages except Rauru had been grabbed and subdued from behind.) (Rauru looked behind him and saw his fellow Sages struggling as five brutish figures were attempting to put chains around them.) Rauru: No! What are you doing!? (Rauru turned back at Carrogen IV.) Carrogen IV: Direct products of Hyrule's corruption and brutality. The five men you see have all been victims of those crimes that I spoke of. They're the Outlawz. (Each of the Sages had been chained by the Outlawz except for Ruto who with the young Zeno fought furiously against their captor, Eagles. But even their mights could not overpower the towering Zora who finally successfully captured both of them.) Rauru: ...What are you going to do with us?... Carrogen IV: You'll see. *Laughing* Aston. (Realizing that he had no chance to escape, Rauru simply put his hands out for Aston to chain him up as well as the Sages along with the King were carried off at the mercy of Carrogen IV......) Part II: Green 5 years later.... (Five years past since Carrogen IV took over Hyrule and slaughtered those who stood against him. Carrogen IV's rule however has not been one of tyranny and he has arguably been viewed as a far better ruler than the previous King of Hyrule. The level of corruption within Hyrule's upper ranks has steadily decreased and those who survived the landing and accepted Carrogen IV as King have prospered in many ways. Carrogen IV's health has become a major concern for those in both Johan and Hyrule as the ruler is visibly showing signs that his health is rapidly deteriorating...) (Those who stood against Carrogen IV and managed to survive, however, have suffered a far worse fate. Those opposed to Carrogen IV have been forced into slavery and are held in various sections of Hyrule's landscape. These slaves are tightly guarded by Carrogen IV's elite unit, The Outlawz still led by Eagles who has gained an incredible reputation as one of the world's greatest soldiers....) (As for the Sages, each has been imprisoned in Nergal, a notorious dungeon located in Johan for being accessories to a corrupt regime under the former King of Hyrule. The status of the former King of Hyrule is unknown and most assume that he was simply executed. Because Zeno was so young at the time, Carrogen IV allowed him to remain with his imprisoned mother at Nergal although Zeno who now goes by the nickname "Z" himself is not a prisoner and may roam wherever he pleases.) Inside Nergal (Ten year old Z has come back to his mother's cell in Nergal after a few hours of being out.) Z: Hi, mom. (Z hugged Ruto as he walked inside the cell and sat down. Ruto's look had changed since being imprisoned, she looked sickly as if she were just withering away with each day inside Nergal.) Ruto: Where did you go Zeno? Z: I was just went for a walk along the coast. You know, to just think and stuff. Ruto: By yourself? Z: Yeah. Ruto: No one bothered you did they? Z: Nope. It was kinda relaxing... Ruto: That's good to know... How's the weather? Z: It's nice. Breezy and stuff but still nice. Ruto: Oh, well, that's good. (Ruto noticed the sad expression on Z's face and questioned him.) Ruto: What's the matter? (Z quickly put on a fake smile.) Z: Huh? Oh, nothing, mom. I'm fine. Ruto: You sure? Z: Yup. I'm doing alright. (Ruto didn't buy Z's response.) Ruto: *Sigh* You don't have to lie to me, Zeno.... Z: What do you mean? I said I was fine... Ruto: No you're not. I'm your mother Zeno, I know when something is wrong. The hard part is not being able to do anything to remedy your sadness... Z: I'm fine, mom, really. Ruto: *Sigh* ...You see the outside world for a few hours each day and then at the end of it all, you realize that you have to come back to this prison.... Out there, you're energized. In here, the life is drained out of you... Z: ...No, mom, that's not... Ruto: ...There's no need to lie, Zeno. I understand... You don't have to try and put a smile on your face for me. Z: ... (Ruto sighed and took a seat in the one chair inside the cell.) Ruto: ... You don't understand how hard it is for me to see you like this... And you can't understand how hard it is for me to say this... But... I want you to leave this place, to leave me and... and go back to Hyrule. Z: Mom, no... Ruto: Yes, Zeno. It... It would be good for you... You need it... Z: But mom, I need you... (Ruto paused for a moment and sighed deeply.) Ruto: ...But you need freedom more. (After these words, Ruto began to cry. Z quickly wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly as she sobbed on his small shoulders...) Z: Mom, don't cry... I won't leave you... Ruto: *Sniff* *Sniff* ...But you have *Sniff* to... You have *Sniff* to go... Z: ...I can't mom... I'm scared... (Ruto stopped crying.) Ruto: And... I'm scared too... But, I know that this is for the best... I know you'll come back, I know that I will see you outside of these walls... Z: Mom...There's no way... I can't... Ruto: Please, Zeno... For me. For your mother... Z: ...But I don't have anywhere to go... Nowhere to stay... Ruto: Go to the Kokiri Forest. There are still people there willing to take you in... Z: But how do you know mom? Ruto: Because I have this. (Ruto pulled out a Fairy Ocarina.) Ruto: It was your father's. He...He used to it to communicate with Saria long ago when he became lonely on his journey. Other Kokiris have similar instruments that they use to communicate on long journeys as well... I have another one as well as the other Sages that we can use to communicate with each other when you leave. Though we may be apart, you will not be lonely in your travels... Take it. (Z took the Fairy Ocarina from Ruto and put it in his pouch.) Ruto: ...Also, come closer, give me your ear. (Ruto began to whisper in Z's ear.) Ruto: *Whispering* When you reach the forest... Go to the Lost Woods, someone will be waiting for you there with a gift. Z: Huh?... What gift? Ruto: Shh... No need to say more. Also, the notes for the song used to communicate with us using the Ocarina are inscribed on the bottom of it. Saria composed the song herself. (Ruto took a one good last look at her son once more as tears filled her eyes once again before she grabbed him and hugged him tightly once again.) Ruto: *Crying* Go... *Sniff* now... *Sniff* *Sniff* Please...be careful.... I love you.... Z: I love you too, mom... I'll...I'll be back. (Tears started to fill in Z's eyes as he left the cell and headed for the docks to board the next ship leaving for Hyrule....) |

(Hundreds waited in line at the boarding docks of the Ulysses, a magnificent ship that made weekly voyages to and from Hyrule. Among those waiting in line was Z, who looked awkward as a mere child waiting in a line surrounded by adults. Looking for any sign of children that he could, Z looked around desperately in the hopes that he would not be an only child on board. And to his satisfaction, he noticed another child around his age waiting with parents in line, a young girl. But before Z could watch this girl any longer, he was next in line to board.) Ticket Worker: *Looking down at Z* Hmm... Where are your parents young boy? (Z looked around nervously before speaking.) Z: Uh... I'm uh.... By myself....sir. Ticket Worker: By yourself, eh? Hmm... Well, how old are you? Z: Ten, sir... Ticket Worker: Hmm... And what business do you have in Hyrule might I ask? Z: ...Just traveling... Ticket Worker: Just traveling, eh? Hmm... Do you have family in Hyrule? Z: No... Ticket Worker: Where are your parents young boy? (Nervous, Z began to shake as he looked around at those in line, asking them for help using only facial expressions...) Ticket Worker: Hmm... I see then. Judging by your responses I cannot allow you to... "WAIT!" (Startled, both Z and the Ticket Worker looked back to see a young woman coming forth.) Woman: He can stay with us. Ticket Worker: What? Woman: The boy, the boy can stay with us. Ticket Worker: ...On what grounds? Woman: The boy obviously has a reason to get on board, he'll need a place to stay in Hyrule as well. Ticket Worker: Is that so? And is that the only thing that has prompted such generosity from you may I ask? Woman: Well... I have a daughter, you see and she noticed that there were no other kids boarding the ship...except for this young man. (Z looked back at the people in line and saw the girl that he was watching from before coming towards them. As she got nearer, Z looked away...) Woman: See? That's my daughter right there. (The Ticket Worker looked suspiciously at both the woman and her daughter but realized that he had no power to stop them.) Ticket Worker: Fine then. You may all get on board then. (The woman, her daughter and Z all walked up to the ship's deck...) Angry Man: Hey! I've been waitin' in this damned line for hours man! That wench and her kid don't deserve to just skip all of us! Ticket Worker: Shut up, ya stupid drunk! Angry Man: Bah! (The angry man stormed out of the line and headed for none other than...the bar.) (Meanwhile as they walked to their room, Z and his unexpected acquaintances became properly introduced.) Z: ...Thanks a lot back there... Woman: No problem. I'm Tesla. And... (Before Tesla could get the words out, her daughter loudly exclaimed...) Girl: I'm Maria! Nice to meet you! (Maria extended her hand to Z and he shook it albeit somewhat nervously...) Z: Um... It's a pleasure to meet you both... I'm Z, I mean I'm Zeno but friends call me "Z." Maria: Z? *Laughs* What a weird nickname. Tesla: Maria... Maria: What? It is! You don't think so, mom!? Tesla: ...No, Maria, I don't... (While the two of them exchanged words, Z put his head down as he walked... He couldn't shake the nervousness from being virtually alone and he still missed his own mom. Noticing his down expression, Tesla tried to cheer Z up.) Tesla: What's wrong, Z? Z: Ah... Nothing... Tesla: You sure? It's not Maria is it?... Z: ...Nope. Tesla: Oh, ok. I won't pressure you. (The three of them reached their room in the lower part of the ship. Tesla opened the door and they each went inside. Inside there was only one bed which Maria instantly pointed out.) Maria: Mom! Where's Z gonna sleep? Tesla: Maria... Z: ...No, it's ok. I'll sleep on the floor, I don't mind. Tesla: You sure? Z: Yup. Tesla: Alright. *Looks around* Well, uh... There's not a whole lot of room in here so I guess you two may want to play on deck or something. Maria: No problem! Z come on, let's go! (Maria ran and hit Z on the shoulder.) Maria: Tag! You're it! (Z smiled and chased after Maria who quickly ran up the stairs to the deck. Tesla yelled after them....) Tesla: Be careful you two! Don't get into any trouble! (The two kids were already gone though.) (Z quickly pursued Maria who was actually a very fast runner as she ducked and dodged through passengers on board as the less graceful Z barely avoided hitting several bystanders as he kept up his pursuit.) (The two of them kept at it for hours as Z continually tried to catch the much quicker and agile Maria who held Z off successfully in each game of tag. As they began to tire, the two of them decided to head back down to the room. On the way down, they talked about themselves.) Maria: You're pretty cool even though you're a slow poke! *Laughs* But uh... sorry for making fun of you before... (Z smiled.) Z: It's ok. I was just a little sad about other things.... Maria: So... why were you trying to board by yourself? Where are your parents? Z: ... I just need to get to Hyrule.... Maria: ...Ok... I guess... Z: Sorry... I just kinda don't wanna talk about that right now... Maria: Ok. *Notices Z's pouch* What's that? Z: Oh this? This is my pouch. Maria: Duh! What's in it, though? Z: Oh... It's a uh... uh.... (Z pulled out the Fairy Ocarina.) Maria: Oh, cool! You have an ocarina! Wait a minute.... An Ocarina, no parents and you're traveling all by yourself, you're not... A traveling circus performer are you!? (Z laughed.) Z: Nope. But this ocarina was a gift. Maria: Well, someone must really like you then. Z: You could say that. (They reached the room and Maria knocked on the door. Tesla opened.) Tesla: Finally! Did you two have fun? Z and Maria: Yup. Tesla: That's good to know. I bet you two are tired, huh? Z and Maria: Yup. Tesla: That's what I thought. Oh and Z, I managed to make a bed out of spare twin-size mattress that was located in the storage closet. You can sleep on that. Z: Thanks! Tesla: But before you two rest up, head for the showers! (Maria took a shower first and then Z went in right after. They each got into their pajamas and headed to bed after Tesla served them a hot dinner...) Later that night around 2 a.m. (A familiar forest tune could be heard being played on the deck.... It was Z. He was contacting Ruto...) Z: Mom? Mom, can you hear me? ...Ah... I guess you're sleeping... I should be too probably. But I just wanted to let you know not to cry, you're baby boy is doing good. I've made new friends already... This might not be so hard after all... I love you, goodnight.... (And with that, Z put the ocarina away and went back to the room to sleep once again....) |

The Next Morning (Z woke up to the sounds of a guitar being strummed, startled he shot out of bed and found out where the noise was coming from... It was Maria. She was playing her guitar in the dining area.) Z: What the heck are you doing? (Maria smiled as she looked up at Z.) Maria: What does it look like? Z: Well, it looks like you're playing a guitar... Maria: Her name's Billie for your information! Z: Oh... Maria: *Laughs* Get that Ocarina out. Z: Huh? Oh ok. (Z fumbled around with his pouch for a second as the ocarina kept slipping from his grip.) Maria: Come on, Z! (Z finally pulled the ocarina out.) Z: Now what? Maria: We're gonna play a song together! Z: But I'm not that good with this thing yet, Maria... Maria: You'll be fine. Just feel the music as you go along! That's what I do. Z: ...Alright... (Maria started playing a tune that reminded Z of some of the old melodies that Darunia would play for him when he was a child still in the Kokiri Forest.) Maria: What are you waiting for Z! Play! Z: Alright... (Remembering what Maria said about just "feeling" the music, Z instinctively started playing a few notes that "felt right" and together the two created a melody that sounded like this...) Maria: Wow Z! That was amazing! I thought you said you couldn't play that well?! You were incredible! (Z blushed.) Z: I just followed your advice to feel the music and that came out I guess. Maria: Well, I'll say you've definitely got some musical talent in there! (Z blushed again and smiled.) Z: Thanks... (Before the two could say anything else, Tesla walked into the dining area where they were at.) Maria: Hey mom! Tesla: Were you two playing that music? Maria: Yup. But it was mostly Z. Tesla: Really? Well that was wonderful Z. You never told us you could play uh...what was that instrument anyway? (Before Z could speak, Maria filled his words in for him.) Maria: It's an ocarina, mom! Tesla: An ocarina? Well, that's quite an instrument if it can produce amazing sounds like that. Maria: Well, I did do the baseline, mom.... Tesla: I'm sorry Maria. You did great as well, you're starting to sound almost as good as your father. Maria: And papa sure was a good player. Tesla: Yes he was. Well, you two have fun playing, the ship crew has ordered that all adult passengers report to the deck for a meeting so I'll be back a little later. Maria: Bye mom. Z: See ya, Tesla. (Tesla left and headed up to the deck for the meeting. Maria picked up her guitar, Billie and went to put it back in it's case. Z simply stood there with his ocarina in hand and watched her. When she came back, she noticed that Z was staring...) Maria: What are you staring at? Z: *Startled* Huh? Oh, nothing... You uh... I mean your mom said your dad played guitar too? Maria: You can be pretty strange sometimes Z. *Laughs* But uh yeah, my dad played guitar. He taught me my first few chords... Z: ...Oh I see. So um...where is your dad? Maria: *Frowns* I don't want to talk about it.... (Z looked down at his feet.) Z: Oh sorry... I didn't mean to... (Maria burst with laughter) Maria: *Laughing* It's ok, Z, I was just imitating you from yesterday! (At first Z gave her a surprised look but Maria's laugh was contagious and he found himself laughing soon enough.) Z: *Laughing* Well uh that imitating was pretty good. Maria: I know. And to answer your question, my dad passed away when I was 7. Z: Sorry for your loss... Sorry about bringing it up... Maria: No, no, no. It's ok, Z, really. I don't mind talking about my dad. I have nothing but good memories of him and talking about him reminds of those times... It's why I play his guitar... (Z paused for a moment. Maria noticed the look on his face.) Maria: What's the matter? Z: I'm just impressed... Maria: By what? Z: What you said. It's just a really grown up thing to say... That's all. Maria: Oh. Ok... (It was a slightly awkward moment but Z broke the silence.) Z: My dad died too... I never met him... Maria: That's so sad... Z: But it hasn't been so bad... I mean, I've always had a lot of love from my mom and her friends so.... Maria: It's still sad Z... I couldn't imagine myself not having those memories of my dad. Z: It's funny that you say that. Maria: Why? Z: Well, I feel just the opposite... I thought it would be harder to lose a parent after developing memories with them. But with you, it's different... Maria: .... Z: .... (The two of them stood there and just watched each other for a moment before Tesla returned.) Tesla: You two still here? Z and Maria: Yeah.... Tesla: Ok, that's fine. Well, we on schedule to land in Hyrule sometime tomorrow afternoon. That's what that meeting was about. Hey, Z, what part of Hyrule were you planning on going to? Z: Kokiri Forest. Tesla: The forest? Well, that's interesting. Maria and I will be staying in Kakariko Village. The forest is about a half a day's walk from there. Well... actually, have you ever even been to Hyrule? Z: I was born there. I moved to Johan when I was five. Tesla: Oh, well cool. So you probably don't remember much then. I'm originally from Hyrule myself, the Kakiriko area. But I moved to Koholint Island a few years ago, that's where Maria was born. But circumstances have changed and now we're moving to Hyrule with my aunt. Z: Cool. Tesla: Well I've bored you two enough for one day. *Yawn* I'm gonna go take a nap. Stay out of trouble. (Tesla went to her bed and took a nap. Maria turned to Z.) Maria: So why did you move? Z: .... Maria: You've gone back to your old self again... Z: No, it's not that... It's just... *Sigh* I don't know. Maria: That's ok, Z. I've come to expect strange things from you. *Laughs* Z: I guess... Maria: What about your mom, though? Where's she? Z: *Sigh* I'll tell you when we get to Hyrule, deal? Maria: Sure. But you better keep your promise! Z: I will. Maria: Good. (Maria slapped Z on the shoulder and started running.) Maria: Tag! You're it! (Z smiled and chased after the faster Maria once again as the two began another game of tag which they played through the rest of the day....) Edited by Bx, Dec 4 2008, 11:15:11 PM.

(The ship, Ulysses began to near the Hyrule shoreline as the next day worn on. In their excitement of seeing the outer edges of Hyrule, Z and Maria hung out by the ship's deck watching as they got closer to land...) Maria: You know this is my first time ever visiting Hyrule. I've heard a lot about this place from school and stuff. Do you remember anything from when you lived in Hyrule, Z? (Z looked at Maria and shrugged his shoulders.) Maria: Figures... But anyway, I just hope that I like it here... I miss my friends from Koholint so much... (Seeing Maria's anxiety, Z patted Maria on the back...) Z: You'll be fine. The way you are, you'll make friends in no time. (Maria smiled.) Maria: Well, at least I know I've got one, right? (Z smiled back.) Z: You sure do! Maria: ...But I'm still nervous, Z... Z: Ah, trust me, you'll be ok. Maria: I hope you're right. (The two of them continued to hang out there until late afternoon when the ship finally pulled into Hyrule's port. From there, they waited in line with Tesla to be let off the ship.) Tesla: *Looking down at Maria and Z* You guys excited? Z: Yeah. Maria: ... (Tesla noticed Maria's frown.) Tesla: What's the matter, Maria? You're not feeling homesick are you? Maria: ... A little... (Tesla grabbed Maria's hand and knelt down so she was face to face with her.) Tesla: I know it's hard to move Maria... Especially when you've made so many friends back at Koholint but I promise you'll love Hyrule, Maria. You'll make plenty of new friends, just you like you made friends with Z, you'll make friends with other people here, right, Z? Z: Yeah, your mom is right, Maria. Tesla: See? (Maria looked at both Z and Tesla before speaking....) Maria: *Sigh* Yeah... I'm probably worried about nothing... (After Maria calmed down a bit, the three of them received their bags and got off the ship and entered the inner port of Hyrule just outside of Hyrule Castle Town... Z began to get sick feelings in his stomach as they moved through the port and neared Hyrule Castle Town. Maria took notice of it immediately...) Maria: You ok, Z? Z: *Queasy* Yeah... Yeah, I'm fine... Ugh... Maria: You sure? (Z's face paled...) Maria: Do you have to use the bathroom? (Tesla took notice of Z now.) Tesla: Z, she's right, you don't look so good.... Was it from the ship? Z: ...Ugh... I'm fine..... really... Tesla: Z, it's ok if you have to use the bathroom. Z: No, no.... Ugh... We're...going to Kakariko Village, right? Tesla: Yes. Why? Z: ...I just need to rest.... That's all... (Concerned, Tesla immediately waved down a carriage cab that came near them and hopped inside.) Cabbie: Where to? Tesla: Just drop us off in Kakariko Village. Cabbie: Of course. (The cabbie took a detour that bypassed the populous Hyrule Castle Town and made for Kakariko Village. Z's queasiness began to subside as they rode through Hyrule Field and finally reached Kakariko Village. The three of them got off and got their bags with Tesla paying the cabbie 20 rupees as fare.) Cabbie: Thank you very much, ma'am. (The cabbie drove off and the three of them headed up to Kakariko Village. Z's queasiness had worn off completely by the time they went up and Maria once again made mention of it...) Maria: What was that back there? Z: ...I don't know. I just got sick, I guess. Tesla: Must have been from the boat. Happens to a lot of people, don't feel bad. Z: Yeah, probably. (Kakariko Village had grown in both size and population rivaling that of Hyrule Castle Town. As they walked through, Z noticed the intimidating guards that filled the village.) Tesla: My this place sure has grown.... Maria: It's a lot bigger than Mabe Village. Tesla: It certainly is. You remember anything about Kakariko, Z? Z: A little. It uh... looks different from the little I remember. Tesla: And that was only five years ago! I left here way before then, imagine how different it must look to me. (After walking and talking for a little while, they finally reached the home of Tesla's aunt. Knocking on the door, they waited for a moment before an older woman finally opened up.) Tesla: Auntie! Tesla's Aunt: Tesla! Oh my... How long has it been? (Tesla and her aunt both hugged one another before they all finally stepped inside.) Tesla's Aunt: It's so good to see you, Tesla. Tesla: Same to you, Auntie. (Tesla's Aunt noticed Maria and Z.) Tesla's Aunt: Hello, Maria, do you remember me? Maria: ... (Tesla's Aunt looked at her and then at Tesla.) Tesla: Maria? Tesla's Aunt: You see Tesla, that's a sign that we haven't seen each enough. Your daughter doesn't remember me. (Tesla's Aunt then looked at Z.) Tesla's Aunt: You had a son, Tesla? Tesla: Oh, no, no. This is a boy that we met while boarding in Johan. He needed a place to stay and I figured we could let him stay here plus *Whispering* Maria's quite fond of him Tesla's Aunt: Ah... I see. *Smiles* Well, we've got plenty of room here and we're happy to have you stay uh... Tesla: It's Zeno but he prefers to be called, "Z." (Z smiled.) Tesla's Aunt: Well then, happy to have you stay Z. Z: Thank you very much. Tesla's Aunt: You all must be tired from that boat ride and it's about dinner time anyway. Get washed up and come down for dinner, I've made a nice stew. 2 Hours Later.... (After having dinner, Tesla went up to her room and fell asleep with her aunt doing the same soon after. Meanwhile, Maria and Z stayed downstairs and talked.) Maria: Hey Z! We're in Hyrule, you're supposed to tell me where your mom is! I hope you didn't think I forgot! Z: Oh I know you didn't forget... Maria: What's that supposed to mean? Z: I'm giving you a compliment. Maria: *Slightly confused* Oh.... Well, good. (Z sat down on the long brown couch in the living room. Maria sat down on the love seat near the couch.) Z: If I tell you this, Maria, you gotta promise you won't tell nobody... Maria: Come on, Z! I can keep a secret! Z: Shh... You're too loud already. Maria: Alright, alright... What's the big secret already? Z: ...My mom is... in jail. Maria: What? In jail? Z: You know that big creepy dungeon in Johan? That's where. Maria: Oh my gosh... What did she do to get put in there? Z: *Sigh* ...Let's go outside. (The two of them went outside and stood in front of the door.) Z: Maria, you've really got to promise that you won't let anyone know.... Maria: I said I wouldn't already! Z: Ok, ok, I'm just making sure. But ok... here goes... (Z explained almost everything to Maria about what had happened five years ago and how everyone ended up at Nergal. After he was done, Maria was left shocked.) Maria: ... Z: What? Maria: ...Wow... That's just...wow. Z: You believe me, don't you? Maria: Yup, of course I do, we're friends remember? (Z's face lit up.) Z: Yeah, we sure are. Maria: Well... Thanks for telling me, Z. Z: No problem, you've just go to promise that... Maria: I know, I know! *Laughs* I'm heading to bed now. Z: Yeah, I'm tired too. But you go on ahead, I've got something to do. Maria: Alright, goodnight. Z: Goodnight. (Maria headed up to bed while Z stayed out and played Saria's Song on his ocarina...) Z: Mom? Mom? I guess you're sleeping again. It's late isn't it? *Laughs* But um, I just wanted to let you know that I'm in Hyrule, Kakariko Village actually and I'm safe. I'm staying with a nice family for the time being. I plan to head to the forest tomorrow... Hope I can talk to you soon, love you. (Z put his ocarina away and went upstairs to bed....) |

(Early the next morning Z opened his eyes and laid in bed as he heard Tesla's Aunt talking...) Tesla's Aunt: Tough times these are, Tesla. Tesla: Is it that bad? Tesla's Aunt: It can be at times. Most days we live securely but when you see the enslaved people it's...difficult. Especially when you realize that these are people who prior to what happened were ordinary citizens that you lived and worked with. Tesla: So did you know anyone who was taken? On second thought, how about we just change the subject... Tesla's Aunt: No, no, it's fine. But um...yes, I did. A few people actually... Tesla: I'm sorry auntie... Tesla's Aunt: *Smiles* It's quite alright, Tesla. We can't worry about things that we cannot change but um there was one thing that I was wondering about... Tesla: Yes? Tesla's Aunt: That boy. Tesla: Z? Tesla's Aunt: Yes. He's an interesting one, isn't he? Tesla: I'd say so. Him and Maria have taken a liking to each other and he seems to be a good kid. Tesla's Aunt: Well, do you ever wonder if.... Ah, nothin. Tesla: What is it? Tesla's Aunt: No, no, forget I ever said anything. Tesla: No really, what is it? Tesla's Aunt: Tesla, don't worry about it, I said. Tesla: ...Ok... (After hearing that, Z got out of the bed and went into the bathroom to wash up. When he was dressed and came out, Maria was standing in front of the door, she was frowning...) Z: What's up, Maria? Maria: ...You're leaving today, aren't you? Z: Yeah, why? Maria: I don't know... It's just uh... Nothing. (Z gave Maria a puzzled look.) Z: You sure? It looks like something's bothering you. Maria: No. I'm fine, Z. Really. Z: ...Ok. (Z went to go get his stuff for his trip, Maria just stood and watched the entire time. When he was all packed up, he came out of the room and looked at her.) Z: Maria, what's the matter? You know I'll be back, right? Maria: Yeah... I know. Z: I hope that's not the reason you're upset. (Maria chuckled.) Maria: No, no, that's not it Z! Z: Well, you sound like you're back to your old self again. Maria: We'll see. *Laughs* Just be careful, Z. And um...good luck. Z: Always. (Z went downstairs and saw Tesla and her aunt at the table.) Z: Well, I just came to thank you for the food and bed before I leave for the forest. Tesla: You're coming back, aren't you, Z? Z: Yes. I'll be back. Tesla's Aunt: Well good and you're very welcome but you don't have to thank me next time, you're a guest. Z: No problem but thanks again anyway. Well, see you guys later. (Z walked out of the door and headed through Kakariko's populated streets and into Hyrule Field. The Kokiri Forest was about a half day's walk from Kakariko and the path leading there was filled various groups of people including a salesman that caught Z's attention.) Z: Hey, what are you selling there? (Z startled the salesman who jumped up from counting rupees.) Salesman: What do you want?! Oh.... *Looks down* a customer. Heh, heh. Welcome to Gizbo's! Z: Gizbo's? Gizbo: Yes, Gizbo's. I'm Gizbo and this is my shop. I specialize in goods that you can't get anywhere else and.... Come closer. (Z gave the eccentric Gizbo a funny look but he moved in closer to Gizbo who bent over and whispered in Z's ear....) Gizbo: At unbelievable prices.... (Gizbo stood up again and Z took a few steps away from the odd man.) Gizbo: So whaddaya say? Care to take a peek at my wares? It won't cost you thing, hey, maybe nothing will cost you a thing! (Confusion was written all over Z's face....) Z: Uh.... Gizbo: Don't think, just think about trying out my wares! Z: Huh?... Gizbo: Take a peek and you'll reach the peak....of your talents, of course! Z: ...What? Gizbo: You know what? Here, here, here! Just take 'em already! (Gizbo shoved a bag into Z's chest.) Gizbo: There you go! (A monkey appeared and hopped onto Gizbo's shoulder.) Gizbo: Have I introduced you to my monkey, Horace? No? Ah well, Horace is a little shy anyway. Good doing business with you, kid! (Z backed away from Gizbo slowly and then made a quick run for it. After Gizbo was no longer in sight, Z looked inside of the bag that he was given. It was filled with Bombchus.) Z: Cool.... I guess. They were free. *Laughs* (Z felt for his wallet and noticed that it felt a little light. He pulled it out and saw that there were only 5 rupees inside. When he left Tesla's Aunt's house, he had 150...) Z: ...He robbed me.... (Z ran back towards where Gizbo was at but to his surprise, the eccentric salesman had seemingly vanished.... With nothing else to do, Z simply put his head down and continued down the path to Kokiri Forest. The sun was setting by the time, Z reached the entrance to the forest and once he had entered the actual village area, night had fallen. The forest was cold and damp, perfect for what had become such a dreary area....) Z: Look at this place... What happened to it?... (Z was amazed and horrified by how miserable the forest had become, graffiti had been written all over the houses, signs and other landmarks, it was only 7 p.m. but nobody was outside.... Z spotted his old house and went inside, to his amazement most of it had been left intact but the walls and other household items were filled with a grimy dust caked up on everything.) Z: I guess nobody's been in here in years.... (Z left the house and headed into what was Saria's house only to find a nasty surprise....) Z: What happened to you all? (A group of Kokiri's were being held captive inside of the house... Their mouths were gagged and their bodies chained. Z attempted to help them but once he got near, they alerted him using only sounds not to.) Z: *Puzzled* Why not? (The Kokiri's made indecipherable sounds again but this time, Z couldn't follow what they were saying. All he knew was that they didn't want him to release them so he walked out though he was undoubtedly bothered by what he saw. Trying to black it out of his head, Z climbed up to the entrance to the Lost Woods and....) "I bet you'll listen in this casket, you hardheaded bastard!" "No! No! Don't!!" (Frightened, Z hid behind a bush and continued to listen as he heard the man presumably a Kokiri cry for mercy....) "I didn't mean to... I, I.... Just don't...kill me.... Please?..........." (Z's heart sank into his stomach while he continued to listen in. He felt deep sympathy for the person but fear wouldn't allow him to do anything about it.) "AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more.... Please... No more!! AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (The man continued to be tortured endlessly as his loud screams for help turned into almost silent but painful whimpers asking for life... The tone of his voice told Z that he was nearly dead.... Angry with himself and the situation, Z finally built up the courage to do something but once he stood up he heard footsteps and ducked behind the bush again and watched the long, tall familiar figure charge into the area where the man was being tortured....) "What the hell is this?!" "Orders from Sir Carrogen." "Carrogen? I wasn't informed about anything like this." "They were orders from Sir Carrogen V, Eagles." "You're taking direct orders from him now?" "We want to make a few rupees on the side as well, Eagles. You, of all people, can understand that." "Carrogen IV did not authorize this?" "As far as Sir Carrogen V is concerned, his father is as good as dead." "And you all believe that's the case?" "We figure the boy would know better than anyone if his father was getting ready to pass away. But we really just wanted to make some extra rupees outside of salary." "And what did this man do to be tortured like this?" "Sir Carrogen V ordered that we send a message to the Kokiri slaves and we figure the best way is through their former boss, Mido." "...." "You disagree with Sir Carrogen V's orders?" "I'm still the head of this unit and I want this Kokiri to receive immediate medical attention." "But he's just a slave!" "He's a person, isn't he?" "You've gone soft, Eagles. But fine we'll go. Sir Carrogen V didn't say to kill him anyway." (Z saw four intimidating Zoras walk out of the area, it was the Outlawz. Z remembered them as the ones who captured them.) Z: *To himself* The other one in there must be.....him. (Z watched once again as the Zora, holding the nearly dead Mido in his arms exited the Lost Woods. Waiting for a minutes to make sure the coast was clear, Z finally got out from behind the bush and went into the area where Mido was being tortured, it was like a sick doctor's workshop with blood everywhere and terrifying bloody "tools" that the Outlawz must have used on Mido while inside of a wooden casket laying in the middle of the ground...) Z: This is sick.... How could they do that to him...? (Z continued to look around at the scene until he was tapped on his back. Startled, Z whipped around and saw a Skull Kid in front of him.....) Z: Who...? Skull Kid: Son of Link, correct? Z: Who are you?... Skull Kid: A friend. Come with me. (Z reluctantly followed the Skull Kid into a deeper area of the forest......) |

(Following the Skull Kid, Z entered previously unseen territory in the Lost Woods. It was a dark place and a persistent eerie howl echoed throughout the area but in spit of that, Z felt serene, a great relief from the terrifying scene that he had just witnessed only minutes ago. The Skull Kid stopped at a point and sat down on the stump of a tree and pulled out a flute.) Skull Kid: You play? (Still puzzled but less suspicious, Z pulled out his ocarina.) Skull Kid: You are the son! Z: Do you want to play? Skull Kid: Yes. The music of the forest will quell the howls of the Lost Children. Z: Who are the Lost Children? Skull Kid: Ha, ha. Those who get lost in the deceptive majestic beauty of the Lost Woods. People like myself. In frustration, the Lost Children howl for relief from the depression that comes with being unable to escape this place... She was never lost but she understood. Z: ...Saria? Skull Kid: Yes, her song... It is magical in many ways as I'm sure you have seen but it's most incredible in the way that it feels our dying hearts with the energy that we need to sustain in the misery and the beauty of the forest. It is a complex thing that I do not expect a child to understand but Saria understood and your father grew to understand in time as well. Z: I think I'm beginning to understand now too. Skull Kid: With the forest in it's current condition and Link and Saria both gone we've been extremely frustrated, our hopelessness with our situation has magnified. As I said before I do not expect you to understand all of it's intricacies but I thought you should know some of the history behind the song that means so much to the forest... Now we shall play. (Z put his ocarina to his mouth while the Skull Kid did the same with his flute. They played an extended and more powerful version of Saria's Song, one that captured the attention of the entire forest, a passionate serenade to the memory of those kidnapped by the forest's unforgiving thievery....) (Once they finished playing, the Skull Kid took a deep breath and breathed a sigh of relief....) Skull Kid: It means a lot to us, Z. Z: I never told you my name. Skull Kid: Ha, ha. I am the one your mother wanted you to see upon reaching the Lost Woods. How do you think I knew you were the son of Link? Z: I guess I didn't think about it... Skull Kid: I'm sure you know all about how Hyrule came to be this way so I'll spare you from hearing what you already know but your mother as well as the other Sages requested me to give you this. (The Skull Kid pulled out a small blade and handed it to Z.) Z: A weapon? Skull Kid: It's the Kokiri Sword. Your father used it when he was a child himself. Once Hyrule came under peace after his defeat of Ganondorf, he entrusted me with it and now I'm giving it to you. I would give you his old shield as well but... in this day and age, a wooden shield would do you or anyone else no good. Z: Thank you. Skull Kid: But they also stressed that I tell you this, Z. That weapon is strictly for protection. You're inexperienced with weapons as it is. In more plain words, just be safe with the sword. Z: I understand. Skull Kid: That was all that I was instructed to give you. I have nothing else to give other than my support and thanks. Z: You're the one who I should be thanking. (The Skull Kid smiled as Z turned to run as he did, he heard the Skull Kid say...) "You are very much like us, burdened by a fate which you can only escape through death... But living a fate full of burden and misery is worth far more to so many than simply giving in to the false serenity of death...." (Returning back to the area where Mido was tortured, Z pulled out his new sword and started doing practices slashes to get a feel for the blade. After a few minutes of doing that, Z put his sword but in it's sheath and headed for the forest exit before encountering....) Bundy: Hiya, buddy! (Bundy, one of the Outlawz, appeared with his axe in hand and backed Z back into the area eventually causing him to fall into the bloody casket that Mido had been in...) Bundy: Snooping seems to be a hobby for kids in this forest and do you know the story about what happens to kids who wander in the forest too long, little boy? Z: *Gulp* Bundy: Go on, you can tell me. (But Z didn't respond.) Bundy: Well, there's two things that happened, one that happened in the past and one that's about to happen right now... You see, the thing that happened long ago was that little kids who got lost in the forest would become "Skull kids," a horrible fate, right? The good news is that stuff like that doesn't happen anymore so you don't have to worry. But what does happen nowadays is.... Well, I guess it would be better if I showed you. I'll be right back...) (Bundy left the area and Z immediately got up to make a run for it but before he could, Bundy had returned and in his hand, he held a freshly killed Skull Kid by the throat....) Bundy: *Pointing to the Skull Kid* I like to this of this as a demonstration of the past and the present. In the past you became what he was and in the present you become what he is! (Bundy threw the Skull Kid to the ground and charged like a raging bull at Z with his axe....) |

(Frozen with fear, Z was floored by Bundy's raging charge. In pain and terrified, Z laid on the ground while the obviously bigger, stronger Bundy ripped into his skin with only his fists and began taunting him with each punch....) Bundy: Didn't mama ever tell ya not to go out by yourself at night? Ha, ha, ha.... (After he finished pummeling Z, Bundy lifted the small child up by the throat and held him in the air, crushing his small throat by repeatedly squeezing and releasing his grip.) Bundy: *Looking up at Z* Heh, heh. When it's all over you'll be begging me to kill you. (Z desperately gasped for air as his face started to discolor into a deep purple, his eyes were bloodshot and popping out of their sockets but Bundy didn't let up, he had no sympathy for his victim, he just wanted to murder him in the slowest, most agonizingly painful way possible, the mark of a true sadist....) Bundy: I remember when I was about your age... I was a good boy, a real good boy. Mama would always give me good rewards, special rewards for being such a good boy... But.... You are not a good boy. You're mischievous, where are your parents, young man? I bet they're looking for you, I bet they want to see you but you've robbed them of the joy they get from seeing you because they're alive and now you're dead.... (The more Bundy spoke, the tighter his grip became and the more Z suffered until he couldn't feel the suffering anymore, he lost consciousness....) (With Z unconscious, Bundy tossed him into the casket filled with Mido's dried blood and began to gather several of his "tools," which included a number of extremely sharp surgeon-like knives, a variety of hammers and other instruments of torture.) Bundy: I guess it's time to find out what makes mischievous little brats tick. (Bundy sharpened and wiped the blood from one of the knives and then put it down. He ripped Z's shirt right down the middle and took all of his gear from him including his wallet, his Ocarina, the Kokiri Sword and the bag that Gizbo had given him. The thief in Bundy took over and before beginning his "procedure," he snooped through Z's wallet, swiping the 5 rupees.) Bundy: Ha, ha. Stupid kid... Doesn't even have a lot of rupees. *Picks up Z's other bag* Maybe this is where he's got the valuables. (Bundy looked through the bag and saw that it was filled with Bombchus. Mistaking them for toys, Bundy emptied the bag and let them go on their own.) Bundy: Heh. The kid brings a bunch of toys, 5 rupees, a stupid flute and a.... Huh? (Bundy felt around his back and felt the little Bombchus, they driven up his back and......) BOOM! (The bombchus exploded all over Bundy sending him to the ground in pain, effectively stopping his sadistic scheme. As he flinched in pain from the burns, Z began to awaken...) Z: .... (Z blinked his eyes several times before slowly moving around in the casket, his body was in excruciating pain, his throat still felt like it had been permanently constricted like he had an invisible rope strangling him with each painful breath...) Z: *Cough* *Cough* *Cough* Ugh... Ugh... (Z wheezed nonstop as he grabbed on to the edge of the casket and pulled himself up. He stumbled over before finally regaining stability under his feet. He noticed Bundy still on the floor squirming in pain from the Bombchu explosion. Confused, Z stepped out of the casket and looked at the beaten Zora.) Z: ...Huh?... *Cough* *Cough* (Z continued to cough up blood as he stepped around Bundy and grabbed his Ocarina, wallet and the Kokiri Sword. After grabbing the Kokiri Sword, he noticed the bag that Gizbo had given him was empty and then looked at the burns on Bundy's body putting two and two together....) Z: They *Cough* were bombs?.... (Realizing this and seeing Bundy beaten on the ground, Z pulled the Kokiri Sword out and rather than try to attack or finish off his fallen enemy, Z instead chose to run away in fear of both retaliation and taking someone's life....) (After escaping the Lost Woods, Z headed back into Saria's house where the captive Kokiris were being held. Upon seeing him with the Kokiri Sword, their eyes lit up. Knowing that he couldn't free them from their chains and still in extreme pain from Bundy's blows, Z simply assured them that they would be free soon and then ran out of the Kokiri Forest and back into Hyrule Field.) (Still wheezing from the pain, Z pulled out his Ocarina and played Saria's Song...) Z: Mom? Ruto: Z? Z: Mom! *Cough* *Cough* Yeah, it's me. Ruto: You don't sound good, what's wrong!? Z: ...*Cough* I'm just a little sick.... I went to the forest. Ruto: Are you sure you're ok? Z: ... Yeah.. Ugh... Yeah... Yeah, I'm fine. Ruto: Tell me if you're in trouble, Z! Z: No, no, I'm alright... I got that sword... Ruto: You did? Z: Yeah... *Cough* Ruto: Z, please tell me if something is wrong. Z: ...Ok... Ok... *Sigh* I got attacked... Ruto: Attacked!? By who? Z: One of those guys... Those guys who got us... Ruto: No... Are you hurt? Z: A little... But *Cough* I'm fine... I'm alright, don't worry. Ruto: ... Maybe I was wrong to send you out there all alone.... Z: No, mom, I'm ok really. Ruto: Z, I have to worry about you... I worry every single day... Z: .... Ruto: Z? Z? Z: ....I'm scared. I'm scared mom.... Ruto: ... Z: But... Ruto: *Sigh* ...Then you should come back... Z: No... I'm scared but... *Cough* *Cough* I don't want to go back... Ruto: What? Z: I'd rather be scared and free then have to live captive and safe.... I can't go back mom. Not yet... Ruto: But Z, if you're scared... Z: I'll be back mom... Just not yet. Ruto: ... Z: We'll talk again soon... Ruto: ... (Z put his Ocarina away and took the painful steps back towards Kakariko Village......) Edited by Bx, Dec 7 2008, 08:22:22 PM.

(Though bleeding profusely as he made his way down the dark lonely path towards Kakariko, Z continued moving forward through the unbearable pain while he searched for one of the little store posts that had been set up along the path during the day time but they weren't there anymore to his surprise...) (Z began stumbling the closer he got to Kakariko and he knew that his legs would just give in soon. He was tired, hungry and needed medical attention but he struggled through the pain and made it to the steps leading up to Kakariko...On his knees. By the time he reached the village, daylight had broken and crawled into the crowded town on all fours immediately becoming a spectacle from the public...) Cicelo: Look at that boy! (Cicelo, a young man in his early 20's with a stocky physique and a noticeably protruding jawline rushed to Z's aid and lifted him up as the crowd watched him take the boy to the town infirmary for medical care...) Inside the Infirmary (Cicelo questioned Z as to who he was and what had happened before taking him to front desk. Telling him who he was in several short breaths, Z fell asleep from fatigue in Cicelo's arms while the man took him to the front desk.) Cicelo: His name is Zeno and he was wounded by wild beasts while running errands between Hyrule Castle Town and Kakariko Village. He's in desperate need of medical attention! Desk Worker: Is he breathing!? Cicelo: Yes. He's only asleep but as I said before, he needs to be treated immediately! Desk Worker: Yes, yes. We'll skip the paper work, hand him to Gus... *Looks around* Wait a minute... Gus? Gus? Where's Gus? (Cicelo shook his head and shrugged his shoulders while the desk worker scrambled to find "Gus.") 5 Minutes Later... (The Desk Worker returned with a short, stumpy man with a round jaw but flat head, thick bifocals and an abnormally large wart that dominated anyone's view of his face.) Desk Worker: I found Gus. Hand the kid to him and sit in the waiting room Mr... Cicelo: Cicelo. Desk Worker: Ok, Mr. Cicelo. (Cicelo handed Z to Gus who immediately rushed him to the back room...) 3 Hours Later.... (Z came out of the backroom with bandages all over his body but otherwise appeared to be fine. He was accompanied by a doctor that called for Cicelo to speak with him.) Dr. Horo: Hello, I'm Dr. Horo and this boy here suffered some nasty wounds but he'll be fine. He's a resilient one. Are you his father? Cicelo: No. Just a man doing his civic duty to a child in need. Everyone else was just standing there, I needed to do something. Dr. Horo: Well, that was quite an amazing thing to do. Well, I suppose then I shouldn't be the one to tell you how he needs to recover properly. Cicelo: Probably not. Um... but Zeno, where are your parents? (Z flinched at the question but after a moment of thought he delivered an answer...) Z: I'm staying at the 2 story house in Kakariko with the blue roof... Cicelo: I see. Well, what should I do, doctor? Dr. Horo: Just tell them that Zeno should get plenty of rest and eat cold foods for a few days to avoid irritating his throat. Cicelo: I understand. I'll tell them. Is that all? Dr. Horo: I have nothing else to say other than that what you did was quite heroic and I applaud you for your consideration of those around you. Cicelo: Thanks. Come on, Zeno. (Cicelo and Z left the infirmary and headed for Tesla's Aunt's house. Along the way, Cicelo talked to Z about himself.) Cicelo: So were you really attacked by wild beasts? Z: Yeah... Thanks for everything. I really appreciate *Cough* it. Cicelo: No problem man. Like I said before, I was just doing my civic duty. If I didn't do it then it would be a problem... Z: But thanks anyway. Cicelo: Alright. Times are hard, though, Z. It's a cold world out there... Being out alone like that, anything is liable to happen. People are desperate. Z: Yeah, I'll be more careful next time. (Cicelo and Z continued to talk as they moved through the crowded streets and into Kakariko's darker alleys...) Cicelo: So yeah, you know rupees are pretty hard to come by. Some people will do anything for rupees. Anything. (Z thought about what the Outlawz said when they were torturing Mido...) Z: Tell me about it. (Cicelo took a left turn where he should have taken a right, leading them to a dark alley that Z hadn't seen before.) Z: Uh...Cicelo, this isn't the way I don't think. Cicelo: Oh, oh, sorry. (Cicelo turned around like he was going to back in the right direction but instead he turned back around and lifted Z in the air by his shirt.) Cicelo: *Looking up at Z* Now where are my rupees kid!? Z: *Scared* What are you talking about!? Put me down! Cicelo: *Looking up a Z* I helped you, now I need rupees. Where are they?! Z: I don't have any! Cicelo: *Looking up at Z* We'll see. (Cicelo threw Z to the ground and punched him in the face, while Z was seeing stars, Cicelo searched him for everything he had and took his sword, ocarina and empty wallet and ran away screaming....) "SUCKER!!!!!!" (Z staggered as he got up and brushed the dirt off his clothing while it sank in that he had been robbed of everything... Angry, scared and frustrated, Z ran to Tesla's Aunt's house and banged on the door.) BANG! BANG! BANG! Z: It's me Z! Open up! (After a minute of banging, Tesla opened the door. Startled at Z's ragged appearance, she immediately questioned him....) Tesla: Oh my goodness! What happened!? (Z walked through the door without answering and went straight upstairs, slamming the door as he went into his room. He sat on the bed for a moment before someone knocked and then came through his door.... It was Tesla.) Z: ...What do you want? (Tesla walked inside the room and sat on the bed.) Tesla: Z, what's wrong?... What happened out there? What happened to you? Z: ... Tesla: Please, Z. I just want to help... Z: ...I got mugged. Tesla: Mugged!? Where? By who? (Z explained how he got mugged by Cicelo but left out the details about getting attacked by Bundy in the forest instead using the wild beast story again.) Tesla: My goodness... No wonder you're so upset... (Maria walked in but stayed silent.) Z: *Sigh* ...I'm just tired... Sorry about before... I just, I don't know... Tesla: ...You don't want anything to eat? Z: No, I'm fine... Tesla: Ok. I'll leave you alone now... I'm so sorry about what happened Z... I'll tell the guards tomorrow. Z: No, you don't need to do that... It's ok. Tesla: Get your rest, Z. Z: Yeah... (Tesla got up and left the room, telling Maria to leave Z alone for a while before she left. Maria did as she was told and left the room as well.) 5 Hours Later... (It had gotten late and everyone in the house had gone to sleep as Z finally left the room but when he opened the door, he saw Maria standing in front of it.) Z: Maria? Why aren't you asleep? Maria: ...I thought you'd be coming out late so I pretended like I went to sleep. What's the matter with you? Z: Huh? Didn't you hear already? Maria: Come on Z, I know that wasn't the truth. What really happened? Z: *Sigh* ...Alright. Come in my room... (The two of them went inside of Z's room and sat on the bed. Z explained to Maria what had really happened.) Maria: So what are you going to do?... I can't believe he took your ocarina too... Z: ...I want to get it back but... I don't know, that guy could be miles away by now. Maria: Probably. Z: But I don't want to just give up either... I need that stuff. Maria: So you're gonna chase after the guy? Z: Maybe. *Cough* I don't know what to do... I have no clue where that guy could have went... Maria: Don't look at me Z, I just moved here... Z: I know... But maybe you could help me look for him? (Maria's expression changed to uncertainty...) Maria: Uh...I don't know Z... My mom wouldn't like that... Z: You're right... But...What if you didn't tell her? Maria: What? I'm not gonna just lie to my mom like that especially about something as dangerous as chasing some burglar. Z: Fine. I'll do it alone. Maria: Why can't you just wait for my mom to tell the guards? Z: They're not gonna help. Maria: How do you know that? Z: I just do. (Maria sighed.) Z: It's ok Maria. I'll get him on my own... Maria: *Sigh* Alright... I'll help. Z: You will?! Thanks! Maria: Shh... You'll wake everyone up. Z: Oh you're right, you're right... Maria: But Z... Even if I do help you, we still don't know where to start looking... Z: We'll figure something out... Maria: ...My mom's gonna kill me... Z: You don't have to come... Maria: No, I kind of do want to help but still... Z: I'll try to figure something out about your mom too. Maria: Alright... Um... You might wanna get some rest though if you're gonna be out adventuring and stuff, I mean you kinda have been through a lot... Z: Yeah, you're right. Goodnight. Maria: Alright, Z... (Maria left for bed with Z doing the same as he thought about getting his stuff back while he tried to sleep....) |

(Z woke up early the next morning sore from the attack but anxious to find the thief, Cicelo. He crept into Maria's room and found her still asleep. Failing to think before acting, he shook her body to wake her.) Z: *Shaking Maria* Wake up, Wake up! (Frightened and groggy, Maria slugged Z across the jaw sending him straight to the ground...) THUD! (Realizing what she had done, Maria quickly got out of bed and rushed to Z's care.) Maria: Z? Z? Are you ok? Can you hear me? (Z blinked his eyes repeatedly before answering...) Z: Ugh... Yeah... I'm ok.... (Overjoyed, Maria helped Z to his feet and helped him wipe the dirt off of his clothing. Maria's door then swung open, it was Tesla and her aunt.) Tesla: Is everything ok!? Tesla's Aunt: Yes, what was that loud bang? Z: ...Uh... Maria: Oh, Z fell! Tesla: How? Maria: He tripped. Tesla's Aunt: Over what? Maria: .... Z: ...The rug... *Touches head* Ouch. (Tesla and her aunt both looked puzzled.) Tesla: You sure that's what happened? Z and Maria: Yes! Tesla: Alright... You two should probably get yourselves together. Breakfast will be ready soon... Maria: Sure thing, mom! Z: ...Yeah, thanks. (Tesla and her aunt both went back downstairs. After they left, Z and Maria breathed a sigh of relief...) Z: ...Why didn't you tell your mom you hit me? Maria: Because that wouldn't be good for either of us... Understand? Z: Oh... Ok, I got ya. Maria: I'm really sorry though, Z. Z: *Laughs* Believe me, I've had a lot worse... Hitting the floor was what hurt the most. Maria: Well, good, I guess. So um, *Whispers* What about the plan? Z: Yeah, I was thinking about that last night... I figure maybe we can tell your mom that we're gonna go play for a while and then I don't know...run off or something. (Maria looked at Z like he was stupid.) Maria: ... (Z put his head down.) Z: Yeah... I guess that's not such a good plan. Maria: ...That's not really a plan at all, Z.... Z: Alright, alright... Um, do you know of any tourists attractions that would make us have to be out of the house for a while? Maria: Um... Hmm... Oh yeah, I remember hearing something about this ranch close to here or something. Z: You mean Lon Lon Ranch? Maria: Yeah, that was it. I hear they have lots of tourists for like horse racing shows and stuff. Z: Do we need to buy tickets? Maria: Z... Even if we did, how would you buy tickets? Z: ...Oh right... Maria: *Giggles* Just teasing. I've got rupees saved up from my birthday, the tickets are 10 rupees a piece. But um, the problem is whether or not my mom would let us go... Z: How many rupees do you have? Maria: Like 500 or something. Z: 500!? Wow. You get that much for your birthday? Maria: *Laughs* Nope. But I've been saving since I can remember. Z: Oh... That's still a lot. Maria: I guess but it's come in handy, right? Z: It sure has. Maria: You know you're lucky I'm doing all of this for you Z... Z: Believe me Maria, I'm grateful for you and your family. Maria: I know Z, I know. I'm kidding around. Z: Alright, so that's the plan then? Maria: Yeah. But we still haven't figured out what to do if she doesn't let us go. (Tesla's Aunt yelled from downstairs.) Tesla's Aunt: Are you two ready yet? Z: Sounds like we don't have time to figure that out right now. Let's just hope the plan works for now. Maria: Z.... Tesla's Aunt: What are you two doing up there? (Tesla's Aunt could be heard coming upstairs, Z hurried back to his room while Maria scrambled for the bathroom.) 2 Hours Later... (Z and Maria had finished eating breakfast and were now ready to ask Tesla about going to Lon Lon Ranch.) Maria: Say mom, could you come over here? (Tesla stopped what she doing and listened.) Tesla: What is it, Maria? Maria: Uh... I was wondering if you would let Z and I go to the uh...horse racing thing over at Lon Lon Ranch today. Um since you know it is a beautiful day and everything... Tesla: Hmm... I don't know Maria. I've heard those things can get pretty rowdy and it's such a long way away. And I can't come along with you guys since I've got to run some errands with my aunt so I'm sorry but the answer is no. (Maria stood up and began to plead with her mother...) Maria: But come on mom, it'll be fun. I'm tired of being stuck in here all day!... Tesla: *Frustrated* Maria, I said no. After Z was mugged on the way home and attacked by beasts out there, how could I allow for something like that? Maria: But... Tesla: NO! Not without an adult will I let... KNOCK! KNOCK! (Tesla turned around and looked at the door.) Tesla: Who?... (Tesla opened the door and saw Z with some wealthy-looking man....) Tesla: Z? And who's this?... Z: This is my friend, Julius. Tesla: Julius? Julius: Pleasure to meet you ma'am. (Julius extended his hand to Tesla who returned the shake.) Julius: I am inquiring about whether I could take your daughter along with Z here to that horse race at Lon Lon Ranch today. (Tesla looked suspiciously at the man...) Tesla: Just how long have you known Z? Julius: I'm an old friend of his fathers. Helped me start my own business actually. Tesla: And just what exactly is your business? Julius: I sell a variety of thrifty items such as fish, bugs, and other sorts of that nature. Tesla: And where is your shop? Julius: On the Southside of town. There's a big yellow sign with C over the building. Z: It's true, Tesla! (Tesla sighed...) Tesla: So you're willing to watch them at the race? Julius: Of course. Tesla: Are you sure you won't get busy with anything else? Julius: I promise. Tesla: *Sigh...* Maria, come over here. (Maria shot over to where Tesla was at and gave Z a funny look. He simply smiled and winked in return...) Tesla: Ok, Maria, this is Julius and he's willing to take you to the ranch. Now I'm going to allow you to go but you MUST under all conditions stay with him... Understood? Maria: Yeah, gotcha. Tesla: I'm serious Maria... Maria: I know mom. I'll be careful, I promise. Tesla: Ok... Are you all leaving now? Julius: Yes. We want to get good seats. Tesla: Does Maria need rupees for food or anything? Julius: No, no, I'll take care of everything. Tesla: ....Ok. That's very generous of you. Are you ready Maria? Maria: Yup! Bye mom. (Maria ran outside and stood beside Z and Julius.) Tesla: Alright, see you guys later. Have fun and be careful. Julius: Don't worry ma'am, they'll be safe. (Tesla shut the door and the three of them walked off.) Z: Thanks Julius... I didn't know if she'd buy it. Julius: No problem. You're a lot like your dad. Maria: That was true? Julius: *Laughs* Of course. When I was young, I was a hobo begging for anything to buy in the streets. By selling me what he did, he gave me an idea of what type of goods to sell for my business. Maria: Wow. Pretty cool. Julius: So it was only natural that I help his son. Z: But that's not the only way he helped us Maria! Maria: Huh? Julius: The man who robbed Z, Cicelo tried to mug me months ago. He only got away because I couldn't give an accurate description but when Z told me what had happened I knew it had to be him. And through various channels between here and Hyrule Castle Town, I've found out that Cicelo is in business with another charlatan somewhere in Hyrule Castle Town. The information I got was somewhat vague but what I was told was that they have a storage hideout underneath an eye near the Temple of Time. Maria: An eye?... Julius: It confuses me as much as it does you. But that's all I got. Sorry. Z: Don't worry Maria, we'll figure it out. We should be going now, thanks for everything Julius! Julius: Don't mention it. Be careful you two...Please. (Z and Maria ran off towards Hyrule Castle Town with the new information they received on Cicelo's whereabouts....) |
