Main Characters Ricky Falcon (Age: 23) - A young detective sent to the country of Ferdinand to investigate the mysterious shooting deaths of three elderly citizens, this will be his first major assignment. Being a detective, Ricky’s been trained in military-styled combat but he’s no expert in the field of battle, though he is quite proficient with a handgun. Alina Peria (Age 19) - A young college student from Ferdinand. She witnessed the shooting while coming back late from a party. She’s a Biology Major and has extensive knowledge about life on Earth as well as the continent of Ferdinand as a whole. Gary Crockett (Age 48) - A middle-aged historian who is second to none in his knowledge of the events that have occurred in the world. His studies and research findings, however, have led him to believe that the history he has been taught is not completely accurate. He’s a friend of Ricky’s and a former member of the police force. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Messiah: Ian Volera (Age 33) - A former spy for the country of Yura, he has successfully completed more covert, special operations missions in his lifetime than any other man alive on the planet and is feared by every country on the planet for his knowledge of their dirty little secrets… He leads Messiah, a group that terrorizes the elderly across the globe. What they wish to gain from this is unknown at this time…. Nola Salk (Age 26) - A woman who works with Ian in his terrorizing schemes. She is Ian’s eyes and ears and it is said that she can somehow control the muscle impulses of those around her, only allowing her enemies to move at her discretion… Victor Yura (Age 22) - The youngest son of the King of Yura. Victor was abducted by Ian’s group when he was in his teens, he was used as a hostage to make the King do whatever Ian demanded, though he has since become one of the leading members in Ian’s operation. He has since been disowned by the King. His greatest strength comes in his ability to pilot naval gunships… Selina Shaman (Age 50) - Selina is a highly skilled explosives expert with a passion for the arts and theatre. She, combined with her twin brother, Sean, make up the Toxic Twins. Known for her deceptive ways, Selina is vindictive and enjoys toying with younger men… Sean Shaman (Age 50) - The twin brother of Selina and the other half of the Toxic Twins. Sean has a dangerous amount of knowledge in the field of biochemical weapons. Like Selina, he also enjoys the theatre… Krist Derrion (Age 70) - A true veteran of combat. Krist (Pronounced like crisp only with a “t” and not like “Christ”) is the oldest member of Ian’s team and has seen the ugliest side of war. Though he is old and much slower than in his past, Krist is deadly with a blade. He chooses to not use the guns that the younger kids use today and wears a pacemaker to cover a wound near his heart…. Others: Kali Frost (Age 84) - A true survivor. Kali has seen war in it’s most despicable form. She played a large role in the defeat of Hector 50 years ago and lent a huge hand in the World War that had occurred inevitably 5 years after Hector’s defeat. Though still alive, her age and the dark memories of the past have worn her mind down considerably, to the point of senility. Plot: Three elderly gentlemen have been found dead on the beaches of Ferdinand. All of them shot in the back of the head, execution style. Believing that these shootings have something to do with a terror group’s action, the country of Yura send Ricky Falcon out to Ferdinand to investigate the scene…. Opening Statement: It’s been 50 years since the events of October Moon 2, anyone who knew what really happened back then is either missing or dead. The worldwide development of nuclear technology as Hector had predicted has not become a reality, in it’s in place however is a society that lives by three concepts established by Hector himself, “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” People have moved on from 50 years ago, the world is no longer dominated by the October Moon, in fact, the jewel has reached mythical status once again and the name “Deamon Foxx” means nothing. The 5 Great Kingdoms are nothing more than figureheads in the new, free world. Since the World War, society is free to make it’s own decisions and the Kings and Queens idly sit by and pretend to have a lock on society… (Inside a classroom in Ferdinand College, a professor is giving a lecture on heroes.....) Professor Terrian: What constitutes a hero? Does he have to be strong? Fast? Brave? Does he have to want to do this "duty?" And more importantly... Does he have to be remembered to be a hero? (A girl raises her hand.) Professor Terrian: Yes, Alina. Alina: Of course. What else could a hero be? Hector Garamon is the perfect model of a hero. Almost superhuman really and stopped a terror group, he died for his cause. That's heroic. There is no other type of hero in my book. That's all I have to say. Professor Terrian: Very good, Alina, interesting point. But I'm not sure if all heroes can be so rigidly defined by those characteristics, what about heroes who don't want to do their duty? Alina: Those kinds of people are only in it for themselves, that's not heroic. That's human nature. Being a hero means doing something that will benefit everyone, saving your own skin because you were told to or because it's a matter of your survival is not heroic. Professor Terrian: Ha, ha. Well, valid points but I am inclined to disagree with you. Heroes come in all forms, men like Hector Garamon are the archetypal form, glorified in every way. Class is dismissed, see you all on Monday. Hours later... (Alina leaves a party off campus and heads through the beach as a shortcut to the campus residence hall, she's a little tipsy but she knows what's going on.) Alina: ...*Sigh* Gafney Hall is still 10 minutes away.... (Alina continues through sandy beaches which light up the cool, evening sky. She decides to take a break and sits down on the sand. In the distance, she can make out words but she thinks nothing of it. After her break, she gets up and continues on her path....) Alina: God... This trail is so freaking long! I gotta let Mom know about getting me my car.... (As Alina continues to walk, the voices start getting louder but she continues to think nothing of it but as she gets closer to the voices, she sees dark shadows...) Alina: ...That could be a gang.... I better just stay here till they leave... (Alina walked towards an unoccupied hot dog stand and stood behind it. From her position, she could vaguely make out the dark figures... There were 5 of them standing up and 3 on their knees with their hands behind their heads.) Alina: *To herself* What is this...? (At the scene that Alina is viewing stands the 5 figures, one of them holding a pistol, the others simply watching as the one with the gun talks...) ???: So... You knew of it? You were there? Elderly Gentleman 1: No. We were never on the scene. Elderly Gentleman 2: I swear if I were younger, I'd...I'd kick your ass! ???: Ha, ha, ha. So you sure you don't remember being on the scene where a great battle occurred? Elderly Gentleman 3: We already told you... We were never there! ???: Well.... I already know you're lying. Nola found out for me.... Hours ago. One of you talked. (The Elderly Gentlemen all looked at each other nervously. Nola, the woman mentioned was a young red head who was wearing an all black trench coat... She walked up to one of the gentleman and bent over towards him.) Nola: It was you. You talked... Elderly Gentleman 2: What?! No! *Cough* I didn't! Nola: *Laughs* Or wait.... I think it was you. Yes... You. (Nola walked up to the gentleman next to him.) Elderly Gentleman 1: I never said a word! Nola: Boss. Him, first. Elderly Gentleman 1: What? Why!? (The Elderly Gentleman tried to stand up but once he did Nola locked on to him and stopped him from moving and placed him back on the ground.) ???: All I wanted to know was where it was at... Is that so much to ask? (??? shot the first Elderly Gentleman in the back of the head, the others looked at each other nervously....) ???: We already know where it is. We just want your help as to where we should start looking. Now gentlemen, you've already seen what happened to your buddy. Talk! 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... Elderly Gentlemen 2 & 3: The old Hoya Facility.... Underground.... Deep! ???: Good job. BOOM! BOOM! Alina: Oh my God!... (The two old men were both shot in the back of the head...) Nola: Ian. Someone heard.... Ian: No worry. There's Victor. (A small ship pulls up on shore and the 5 figures board the ship and drive off. Horrified, Alina runs straight home, in her fear, she drops her bag and leaves it at the scene..... The next morning the police and the media are alerted to the scene.....) Part I: Reality and Catastrophe (Inside a gray-colored room in a police station are two men talking....) (Ricky throws up into a trash can.) Crockett: You nervous about heading to Ferdinand? *Laughs* Need a cigarette to calm you down, Rick? (Ricky pulls his head up and looks at Crockett.) Ricky: You know I don't smoke, Gary. Crockett: Your nerves are bad, you might want to give one a shot. (Crockett is a middle-aged black man of average build, he lights a cigarette, which fumigates the room with smoke...) Ricky: *Cough* That's exactly why I don't. Coughing sucks... Crockett: Ha, ha. Ever the same Ricky. Ricky: Since we're here, Gary, what's the status of the situation? Crockett: Three old men were found shot in the back of the head on the beach yesterday. Execution style. Ricky: Same old story, huh? Old guys go missing and then they wind up dead. Some crazed serial killer on the loose I'd imagine. Crockett: Not at all Ricky. Ricky: What? (Crockett hands Ricky a picture of a female college student.) Ricky: Who's this? Crockett: Your eye witness. That girl was on the scene the night of the murders. Her name's Alina Peria. Ricky: Alina... Crockett: She was on her way home that night from a party, she admits she had a few drinks but she remembers seeing 5 figures surround the men before they were shot. She said one of them had a gun. Ricky: We're trusting the information of a drunk college student? Crockett: It's the only lead we've got. Ricky: That reminds, Gary, why the hell are you in on this? You left the force years ago. Crockett: Ha, ha. I'm not Ricky. But everyone knows about your problems with Captain Gorman so they called me in to give you the details. Ricky: Hah. Only Gorman would send me on a shithole assignment like this... Crockett: Well, I'll keep my head out of that. Anyway, talk to our witness about the situation and find out whatever you can about these 5 men. Oh and Rick, she said there was a 6th one, he came in a boat or something. Ricky: Trailing 6 guys is a hell of a lot harder than trailing one, Gary... Crockett: I'm only the messenger Rick. If you need anything, though, give me a ring. Ricky: Yeah. (Ricky stands up and gets ready to walk out the door.) Crockett: Uh, Ricky. I need the picture back. Ricky: Can I keep it? Looking at her makes this thing worth doing. Heh. She's easy on the eyes. (Crockett shakes his head.) Crockett: You're on a job, Det. Falcon.... Not a blind date. Ricky: It's only blind if you haven't seen the person, Gary. (Ricky's plane lands in Ferdinand's Major Airport. He gets off the plane and heads for Altea College of Biological Sciences. When he finally gets there, he sees a crowd of people storm him as the campus is in an uproar.) Protester 2: Do your fucking job, man! Do your fucking job! Protester 4: What if it was your grandfather!? Pussies!! Ricky: *Sigh...* (Ricky breaks through the rest of the crowd and reaches Gafney Hall, where Alina lives.) Ricky: Lets see... Room 149.... Here. (Ricky knocks on the door.) No response. (Ricky knocks on the door again.) No response. (A note is slipped in from under the door. It reads) Ricky: "At the Cafe...." Oh jeez, gotta go back through that shit.... (Ricky puts his hands over his face and moves through the crowd towards the Dining Hall. He enters and sees a crowd of people eating lunch. Looking at the picture, Ricky tries to spot her out....) Ricky: Um.... Hmm... Not her... No... She is pretty hot but no... Uh, yeah, there she is. (Ricky finds Alina, sitting by herself eating a pizza. He takes a seat in front of her...) Alina: ....Hello. Uh... Ricky: I'm Detective Falcon. You're Alina Peria, correct? Alina: Um...Yeah. Listen, I... Ricky: I'm not here to hassle you, don't worry. I just need for you to tell me exactly what it is that you saw. Alina: Um...Well...Really, I just want to forget that I ever saw that... Ricky: I understand Alina, really I do. But you're a witness to three murders. Three innocent people died senselessly and you're our only way to put whoever did this justice. Alina: *Sigh* Why did I even go to that party....? Ricky: Come on, would you rather we go some place more peaceful? Alina: Uh....Det. Falcon... You're not very observant, are you? Ricky: Huh? Alina: Look around you. (Ricky looks around. He sees nothing but swarms of people protesting, eating, you name it, they're doing it...) Ricky: ...Yeah, I guess you're right. Off-campus then? Alina: Can you show me your badge first?... Ricky: Huh? Oh, um, yeah. (Ricky flashes his badge.) Alina: ....Ok. Uh...Where to? Ricky: *Scratches face* Well, I, uh... was kinda hoping you'd know a place? I'm not from around here. Alina: (I can tell...) Ok. Well, where's your car? Ricky: .... Alina: (What kind of detective doesn't have a car?) ... Ok. So you don't have a car... Well, alright, we'll walk but I've warned you.... (The two of them get up and attempt to go off-campus but before they can make it, they're swarmed by a mob of people, Ricky tries to cover Alina as well as himself but it doesn't really work as the mob rushes them. They finally manage to get out of it and head down a sidewalk...) Ricky: Pretty rough stuff, huh? Alina: (...I told you...) Yeah. Ricky: Ok, so, is there any good places to eat here? Alina: Um... Berkeley's is over there. They have decent burgers... Ricky: Ok, sounds good. (They head into Berkeley's and Ricky orders himself a burger, he takes a seat in front of Alina and starts eating.) Ricky: *Eating* Ok, so *Munch* tell me what exactly *Munch* happened? *Munch* Alina: *Disgusted* ....Uh, I ate, I mean I came back from this party and I'll admit I had a few drinks so I walked through the beaches to try and get home quicker but while I was walking I heard these voices so I don't think anything of it but as I get closer, I get scared thinking it might be a gang. So I hide down behind a hot dog stand and watch these 5 guys and... Ricky: Ok, describe the 5 guys. Alina: ...Um...It was pretty dark, I couldn't see much. I only knew that one of them had a gun. Ricky: A gun? Do you know what model? Alina: (Dude, what part of, "It was dark" do you not get?) I couldn't tell you. Ricky: Ok. Continue the report. Alina: So they basically keep talking and boom, three guys are dead. That's all I know. Ricky: You sure, that's it? Nothing else about a boat? Alina: Oh yeah, there was this boat that showed up and picked them all up. Can I go now? Ricky: As much as I'd hate to do it, I may need to bring you back to the station. In Yura. Alina: In Yura?! But I have class! Ricky: Ok, ok. (Ricky dials Crockett's number and heads out of the diner.) Ricky: Yeah, Gary? Crockett: What's up Rick? Ricky: ...This girl isn't cooperating... Crockett: ...You've had training before Rick in dealing with noncooperative... Besides, I thought you liked them feisty? Ricky: Damn it, Gary! I don't need this today.... Do I fly her in or what? Crockett: Hold on, Rick. Ricky: What?... *Sighs* (Ricky stays on hold.... A voice comes through...) Gorman: Bring her in. Ricky: Gorman? What the hell? Gorman: Just do as your told, Falcon. This is bigger than you. Bring the witness in and then you're off the case. Ricky: Off the case? Gorman! This is my case! Gorman: It was your case, now get her in here. CLICK! Ricky: Son of a bitch... Ok. (Ricky goes back in the diner and talks to Alina.) Ricky: I have to bring you to Yura...Captain's orders. Alina: What!? Listen, I told you! Ricky: Alina... You're an eyewitness, I'm just doing my job... Please! Alina: No! (Alina slaps Ricky.) Ricky: ...Alina Peria, you're under arrest for assault a police officer, you have the right to remain silent.... (Ricky handcuffs Alina and gets her to the airport, once there, he takes the cuffs off and the two of them get on a plane and head back to Yura....) |

(Sitting on the plane next to Alina, Ricky gets a phone call.) Ricky: Hello? Crockett: Rick, you on the plane yet? Ricky: Yeah, what’s up? Crockett: This is big, Ricky… Real big. The girl next to you? Ricky: Yeah. Crockett: Go to the bathroom, I don’t need her listening in. Ricky: Gary, what’s going on? (Ricky gets up and heads to the plane’s restroom.) Crockett: Are you in the bathroom yet? Ricky: Almost… Ok. Yeah, what’s the status of the situation? (Inside the bathroom, Ricky locks the door and Crockett starts to talk…) Crockett: I overheard Gorman talking in the other room about it. Ricky: What, Gary? About what? Crockett: These deaths aren’t just your average gang homicides like we thought and it’s not just a couple of psychos on a killing spree, either. There’s a strong possibility that we’re dealing with terrorists…. Ricky: Terrorists!? Crockett: Yeah. Not your average joes by any means… Ricky: How did you get the word? Crockett: A couple of detectives from Ferdinand have been in on this case for a while now, apparently they gave Gorman the word a few hours ago. Ricky: Can we trust that information? Ferdinand doesn’t exactly have the best… I mean, that’s why I came out here in the first place. Crockett: It’s all we’ve got outside of your eyewitness. Bring her in as soon as you arrive. Ricky: Will do. Crockett: And Rick… Be careful. We’ve got YSO (Yura Secret Ops) on the assignment. Once you bring the girl here, you’re done. Ricky: Yeah… That all Gary? Crockett: Yeah. We don’t know what we’re dealing with so I’ll tell you again, be careful and stay sharp. Ricky: We’ll be there in about an hour. Later, Gary and thanks. Crockett: I’m always looking out for you Rick. See you when you get here. (Crockett hung up. Ricky put his phone in his pocket and took a deep breath.) Ricky: Terrorists…. (Ricky stepped out of the bathroom and took his seat next to Alina.) Alina: You can’t talk in front of me or something? Ricky: What? Alina: Well, whenever you have to use the phone you leave… Ricky: Oh, well that was a friend of mine. Didn’t want to bore you with our conversation… Alina: Whatever… *Sigh* (A young man taps Alina on the shoulder. She turns towards him.) Alina: Yes? ???: Well, I was just wondering, do you have the time? Alina: (He is hot….) Uh…No. Sorry. (Ricky turns to the man.) Ricky: It’s about 5:30 (p.m.) ???: Ah…Thank you, so much. Ricky: No problem. ???: *Looks at Ricky and Alina* …Are you two together? Ricky/Alina: Yes. No! (??? Gives them a funny look.) ???: In any case, I’m Victor. (Victor extends his hand for a shake. Ricky and Alina both shake his hand.) Ricky: I’m Ricky and… Alina: I’m Alina… He’s not my boyfriend. In case you were… Victor: *Laughs* I gathered that. So, it’s a friendly affair then, huh? Ricky: …Something like that. Victor: So, why a trip to Yura? Ricky: Business. Alina: I was f… (Ricky sneakily nudges Alina on the side.) Alina: For fun. Victor: Ah, I see. I’m also going for business. You know, gotta be the guy to get things going otherwise things don’t go boom. *Laughs* Alina: (Dreamy…) So what’s your line of work? Victor: I work on boats. Mainly speedboats but I’ve made other types as well. Alina: That’s pretty interesting. So where do you live in Yura? Victor: Funds are kinda tight so… It’s a little embarrassing but I live in one of my boats. Alina: (An adventurous man… Oh, my) That’s a heck of a lot cooler than just living in some house, though! Victor: Ha. You have a great outlook on things…. You like the sea? Alina: I love everything about the earth, I’m a Bio Major at Altea. Victor: Are you? Hmm… Well, what about you, Ricky, what’s your line of work? Ricky: Uh… I help people. Victor: …How so? Ricky: Well… Alina: He’s a cop. Victor: Oh…Are you? Very interesting line of work, that must be. Ricky: It pays decent. Victor: I bet it does. What time is it again, if you don’t mind me asking? Ricky: Now it’s about 5:48 (p.m.) Victor: Ok. Well, I’ve got to make a phone call. (Victor gets up and heads for the bathroom.) Alina: Why did you act so stupid with him? Ricky: *Yawns* I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. I’m taking a nap. Wake me when we land. Alina: (For what? I’m going with Victor….) Ok. (Ricky laid his head back and went to sleep….) |

(While Ricky sleeps, Victor returns to his his seat next to Alina.) Alina: Was that a business call? Victor: Yeah. Something in that area… Alina: I bet someone wanted to buy one of your boats. Victor: Ha. Not exactly. Ricky decided to take a nap, eh? Alina: Yeah… But don’t worry about him… Victor: Can I see his watch? Alina: What? Victor: Could you tell me the time on his watch, then? Alina: Uh…Ok. You really worry about the time, huh? Victor: I’m a clock watcher. Drives me mad if I don’t have one on me all the time. A little weird I know but… Alina: No. We all have our perks like me… I’m, oh sorry. The time. (Alina looks at Ricky’s watch.) Alina: It’s 5:58 (p.m.) Victor: Thank you. Now what were you saying about your perks? Alina: Well, you see I’m kind of a messy person but it drives me insane if things aren’t wiped clean. Like a desk could be full of papers all jumbled up but if that same desk isn’t messy but it’s dusty, it drives me nuts. Do you think I’m crazy? Victor: I watch clocks. How could I think anyone is crazy? Alina: *Laughs* I guess you’re right. Victor: Do you have a phone number, Alina? Since you’re gonna be in town, I figure why not hook up for a little while, right? Alina: (Oh yes…) Yeah, definitely. My number is 555-3498. And yours. Victor: *Laughs* My number is 555-2662. Call me any…Wait a minute. (Victor searches his pockets.) Victor: I seem to have misplaced my phone…. You mind doing me another favor? Could you dial my number so I can hear it and get my phone? Alina: Of course. (Alina dials 555-2662.) RING! RING! (Victor finds his phone and answers it.) Victor: Boom, boom. *Laughs* That’s one of my favorite lines, just to let you know. In case you were wondering. Alina: It’s kinda… I don’t know…cute. *Giggles* (A movie projector quickly comes down and the lights in the plane are turned out, the stewardesses run out from their section and watch….) Alina: What’s this? (On the screen was not a movie but instead the news… Breaking News.) Victor: Interesting… Newswoman: Around 2 minutes ago or so, a major and truly catastrophic event just occurred…. Nearly every major airport in Yura was blown up… I repeat nearly EVERY MAJOR airport in Yura with the exception of Yura Skyway International has been destroyed by what appeared to be a bomb… The images you are about to see are truly disturbing and graphic in nature, we urge parents to take full discretion in allowing their children to view… (The plane went into an uproar. This plane was heading for Yura Skyway International anyway but panic spread, people were frightened and for good reason…) Alina: Oh my God…. Victor: Unbelievable…. How? Alina: …Ricky! (Alina woke Ricky up.) Ricky: *Groggily* Huh…? Alina: Ricky, look! (Alina pointed towards the screen, Ricky saw what was flashing and was startled.) Ricky: That’s a movie, right!? Victor: Afraid not…. That’s real… *Sigh* This is terrible… Ricky: Oh boy… I don’t like this, I don’t like this at all…. (People on the plane were losing control. They were scattering about as the plane was descended towards it’s destination.) Ricky: Damn it… RING! RING! (Ricky picked up his phone. It was Crockett.) Ricky: Gary, what’s going on!? Crockett: Ricky… Ricky: What is it, man!? Is it them… Crockett: Ricky… My wife… Ricky: Gary, no… (Crockett hung up the phone. As the plane was preparing to land in YSI (Yura Skyway International, the panic became more widespread. (Now off the plane, Ricky grabs Alina by the arm and pulls her away from Victor who has gone his own way.... Outside the landing zone is a huge mob of people, both in a panic and angry....) Ricky: Alina! This is no time for games! (Alina is struggling to get away from Ricky...) Alina: You're a cop, investigate this disaster and LEAVE ME ALONE!! (Alina takes a swing at Ricky but he just knocks her hand back.) Ricky: Enough of the shit, come on! (Ricky tugs at Alina harder as they struggle to get through the crowd....) Ricky: Alina! Ricky: Alina! Stop this! Victor: ...Hmm... By the docks, to the east. Hurry up. I'm in a black speedboat. You can't miss me. Alina: Ok! I need you Victor, please... Victor: You'll be fine, Alina. Trust me, I'm gonna make another phone call now. So, get here quick! (Alina hangs up the phone and runs towards the docks, Ricky also continues his chase...) Ricky: *Out of breath* Damn it, Alina! Give me a break!... Alina: Fuck you, jerk off! Ricky: I'm a cop! Why don't you... (Alina sees Victor's sleek, black speedboat in the distance and starts running faster. Ricky, though of out breath, keeps pace with her as she begins to run down the stairs of the dock...) Ricky: Where are you going!? Get back here!! Alina: Victor! (The speedboat's side door opened and Alina jumped in quickly as the door closed before Ricky could reach her.) Ricky: No! Fuck! "You awake, Falcon?" (Ricky shifted around a bit and woke up in a hospital bed, he was groggy...) Ricky: *Groggily* Who...? (Ricky sat up and saw his police captain, Gorman, in front of him.) Ricky: Gorman? What's...? Gorman: Quiet, Falcon. We lost the girl or rather... You lost the girl. Ricky: Alina... Gorman, I.... Gorman: All you had to do Falcon was get the fucking girl over here! That was all you had to do! And you couldn't accomplish that! Ricky: Listen, Captain, don't we have bigger things to worry about!? Like several massive explosions in airports across the country! Gorman: Jesus, Ricky, you still don't get it, do you!? Ricky: I don't get what? Gorman: When they release you. Come to my office. (Gorman got up and started to walk out of the door before he stopped.) Gorman: And Ricky... Ricky: What? Gorman: ...Glad you're ok. (Gorman left and Ricky laid back in his bed, a nurse knocked on the door and came in.) Nurse: I heard screaming, everything alright? Ricky: Yeah, just another lovely encounter with Dennis Gorman, my boss. When can I get out of here? Nurse: Well... You're doing alright. That blast didn't wound you or anything so right after I get some paperwork from you, you'll be released. Ricky: Paperwork?.... Ugh... Nurse: *Laughs* Nobody likes to do it but it has to be done or I can't release you. Ricky: Well, if you stay, maybe I won't wanna be released? Nurse: Flattering but I'm taken. *Laughs* Another one of the patients tried to sweep me off my feet a few hours ago. Ironic, though, since he too was also in that explosion... Ricky: Was he? Nurse: Yup. He was released not long ago. Ricky: Heh. Did he complain about the paperwork? Nurse: He actually delivered a line similar to yours. It worked then. Ricky: So, I was a little too late then, huh? *Laughs* Nurse: I guess so. I'll go get that paperwork now. (The nurse walked off and went to go get the paperwork for Ricky. In the mean time, Ricky turned on the television. As expected, nothing but the news was on, describing the disasters in the airports.) Newsman: We're still at Ground Zero 3, Hollice International Airport (HIA) where the deadly explosion took place. Our deepest sympathies go out to all victims and victims families in the tragedy... *Sigh* And although we are aware of the magnitude of the disaster and how far reaching the effects are, we must simply continue to report on the scene with all due respect to victims and families... And to go on, recovery teams have been on the scene digging up for possible survivors although Yura Police Captain, Dennis Gorman has reportedly given a bleak outlook on the possibility of survivors... Ricky: Has he... Ah. (The nurse walked back in with papers in her hand...) Ricky: Can you believe it? (The nurse looked at the screen.) Nurse: No... It's so sad and scary... We're all on high alert now. Whoever they are... I mean, airport security, I thought was very tight, if they broke through that what couldn't they break into, what couldn't they blow up? Heck, they could have even been here in this hospital for all we know... Ricky: ...Yeah. Nurse: Well, here's the paperwork. (The nurse handed Ricky the paperwork, he looked over it.) Ricky: Will the police department take care of the bill? Nurse: Yes. Ricky: Ok. (Ricky signed all of the papers and handed them back to the nurse.) Ricky: So, am I free to go? Nurse: As long as you feel ok, yeah. Ricky: I feel fine. My head hurts a little but... It's probably just stress. Nurse: Most likely. Well, ok, then. Take care, Mr. Falcon. Ricky: Call me Ricky. (The nurse smiled as she walked off. Ricky got out of the bed and cut the TV off and headed out of the door and the hospital. He walked to the police station, inside, it was a mess. There was another mob of people that the guards were holding back....They were in an uproar. Ricky slipped past them and headed into Gorman's office, where Gorman was sitting in his chair watching the news.) Ricky: I'm here, Captain. Gorman: Sit down, Falcon. Ricky: What's up? Gorman: *Sigh* Your eyewitness was our only real option in helping us link together the crimes. Ricky: What? Gorman: We finally found out that we were right. This is a terrorist act. We're not sure if the murders are linked, though but there is a terrorist organization out there... Ricky: How do you know for sure. And what about Alina? Gorman: Just watch this tape. (Gorman put on in a tape and on the screen was a woman, it was...) Ricky: Alina! (On the screen was Alina, she was handcuffed to an open steam pipe directly behind her.) ??? Man: Say it. (Alina was shaking as she began to talk.) Alina: My....Name is....Alina Peria and... I, I'm.... being held hostage... *Starts crying* I...Really need help... Please, somebody... Anybody... They want $500 million in gold.... $100 million from each of the 5 Kingdoms.... They want each leader to personally deliver it to Jack's Point in Yura by 4:00 p.m. or.... (The screen cut to black.) Gorman: As you can see, whoever those bastards are, they got the girl.... Ricky: ... Gorman: This is why we think they're linked now.... But we don't know when they got her exactly.... Ricky: ...*Sigh* So where are we gonna go from here? Gorman: Well, the kingdoms are obviously not gonna give in to their demands so... Ricky: So you're just gonna leave Alina out there to die?! Gorman: ...Ricky! Get yourself together! YSO is on it! Ricky: Gorman, what time is it now? Gorman: It's 7:26 (a.m.), why? Ricky: We have 8 and a half hours before the steam pipes blow and... We can't just let her die, Gorman... I don't need on that my conscience. Gorman: *Sigh* I understand. That's why we've got YSO on the case. They're searching every where they can but... Yura is in a national state of crisis. YSO can't be everywhere, they'll do what they can but... Ricky: So you're telling me that YSO is barely on it? Was the duct open? Ricky: Yes... Crockett: Steam is released from those pipes every few hours or so... The next one is at... Ricky: 4:00 p.m. It's 7:57 (a.m.) now. That's 8 hours until the next batch of steam is released. Crockett: ...That's not a lot of time... But you said YSO was on it? Ricky: Not fully... The terrorists also demanded $500 million in gold. $100 million from each kingdom... And they asked for another strange demand, they wanted the gold to be delivered by the leader's personally at Jack's Point. Know any reason for that? Crockett: ...Hmm... No, that is strange though. But I can't see any feasible connection. The monetary demands aren't gonna be met, Ricky so... Ricky: I know Gary. Gorman told me himself. Crockett: Rick. YSO is on it. There's not much else that we can do. They're the best of the best, if they can't get her out of there who can? I want to help Ricky, really, I do but.... I'm not sure what you're asking of me and I'm not sure what you're trying to do.... Ricky: *Sigh* I just want to help Alina... Crockett: Rick... *Sigh* We have a little less than 8 hours before the steam pipes blow.... I just, I just want you to prepare yourself for the worst... Ricky: ... Crockett: I know that about 45 years ago, Yura built underground steam powered facilities to help improve the heating conditions of those in the city of Narobia. They were also used as a means to move soldiers underground during the World War. Soldiers would crawl through extremely large steam ducts that... Ricky, how big were the ducts? Ricky: Pretty big. Big enough for a human to get through, at least. Crockett: ...What color were the surrounding walls? Ricky: I don't know... Maybe a dark teal. Crockett: Ah... During the world war, the walls were painted different colors to indicate to the soldiers what town or city they were in. The dark teal colored walls, if I remember correctly, were painted underground beneath the city of Jace. Ricky: Home of the rich and famous... Crockett: Yes... I'd put money on Alina being located somewhere down there. Is that where YSO went looking? Ricky: ...No idea. What time is it now? Crockett: About 8:19 (a.m.). Ricky: Thanks Gary. (Ricky stood up and got ready to walk out when Crockett stopped him.) Crockett: What are you trying to do, Rick? You're not seriously gonna.... You're off the case, Ricky! (Ricky raced through highway, excelling at speeds of over 100 mph, he reached Jace within 25 minutes and dashed towards the first manhole he could find.) Ricky: Ok, here we go. (Ricky tried to open up the manhole as a group of people simply watched in fear, amazement and strange curiosity…) Ricky: Hey! You see something interesting here!? Move the fuck on already! (A big “Oh” echoed from the crowd as Ricky continued to struggle with the manhole’s opening.) Ricky: Argh! If you sons of bitches are gonna keep watching me, help me out here! (A loud siren was heard. Someone had tipped off the cops…) Ricky: Shit… Urgh!!!! (And with all his strength, Ricky lifted open the manhole and climbed down the ladder after he sealed the opening so no one would be able to get in for a while.) Ricky: …Ill… It’s so dark and grimy down here… (But despite his issues with the scenery, Ricky moved through the dark sewage system. He listened in for screams or talking or anything that could help lead him to where Alina was… If she was even there to begin with…) Ricky: Shit! Fucking rats… (Ricky stomped on a few rats and moved through the sewers, he still heard nothing…) Ricky: …How big can this place be… RING! RING! (Ricky answered his cell phone.) Ricky: Hello? Crockett: Rick! Where are you!? Ricky: In the Jace sewers…. Do… Crockett: In the sewers!? Ricky, are you insane!? Ricky: Gary, I’m down here already. I can’t turn back at this point. Do you have any idea where the steam pipes would be located down here? Crockett: Rick… This isn’t smart… *Sigh* I did some research on the Jace underground heating network and the whole system was mapped out and.. Ricky: Gary! Come on! I want to get out of here ASAP. Crockett: You shouldn’t have went in there in the first place…. *Sigh* This is crazy, Rick… Do you even have any idea where you’re at? Like where on a map you’d be at? Do you remember every turn you took? Ricky: I went straight for a while and then remember taking a left turn and then a right one and now I’m here. I see the dark teal colored walls but…. No sign of Alina or anyone really. Crockett: Hmm… Hold on. (Ricky put his phone down by his side and then put it back to his ear when he heard that Crockett had come back.) Crockett: Ricky, you there? Ricky: Yup. You got anything for me? Crockett: Yeah. From this old map here, you’ve gone in the wrong direction. See, apparently, these steam pipes were used to not only heat Jace but also Hoya and the large facility above it. You actually moved towards the west more towards inner Jace, you should’ve really kept straight from when you came in and took the 5th left turn you see. Keep on that path and you should reach where you need to be… But it’s probably a ways off Rick, at least an hour’s worth of walking… Ricky: Hah… I’m technically walking to Hoya so it’s no surprise. It’s 9:47 (a.m.) right now… I’ve still got some time. Thanks Gary. Crockett: I still think this is insane Rick… Almost suicide but… ok. Just take care of yourself. Call if you need anything, I can’t do much from here but… yeah, just be careful down there. Ricky: Ok, Gary. And thanks again. (Ricky hung up the phone and did a little backtracking. He ended up back on the original straight path but with one change… The police had opened up the manhole and they were on their way down.) Ricky: Fuck… (Ricky jetted down the long, dark path as the police yelled out and looked for him with their search lights. They chased after him by listening to his footsteps through the puddle of water but Ricky kept running. Where he needed to be was still a ways off, though but he continued to move.) RING! RING! Ricky: *Out of breath* Shit… (Ricky’s phone alerted the police even further and they began to fire shots, all of which missed but they weren’t gonna stop firing at this point.) Ricky: Why are they doing this to me! RING! RING! (Ricky’s phone continued to ring as the police kept firing until….) “AHH!!!! AHH!!! SHIT! Why….!? Son of a bitch!! Ugh…. No!!! Put it down!! I have a…family…” (Blood curdling screams were heard from the police officers… Something had gotten them. Something bad…) Ricky: *Disturbed* ….Who?… RING! RING! (Ricky’s phone continued to ring and although disturbed by the sounds he had heard, he picked up anyway.) Ricky: Hello? Gorman: Falcon! Where the hell are you!? Ricky: Gorman? Gorman: Answer me, Falcon! Ricky: … Gorman: I knew it! You little fucking prick…. You little fucking prick… What the fuck were you thinking!? I’ve had it up to here with your shit, Falcon, I get it, you don’t like me but this… Oh boy, this… You really outdid your shitty little self this time, huh!? I tell you you’re off the case so you decide to make a fucking joke out of the situation by going in that damn sewer! You think I… Ricky: *Disturbed* Hey! Shut the hell up, alright!? Gorman: Who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that!? Do you realize how much shit I’ve got on my plate!? And now I have some renegade half-assed detective making a… (Ricky hung up the phone and put his hand on the top of his head… He had a headache.) Ricky: Ahh… (What am I doing? And more importantly… What got those police officers?) (Ricky took his hand off of his head and continued on his path.) RING! RING! Ricky: The phone can wait. (Ricky took his pistol out and held it as he walked down the rest of the path. From here on, it was pretty uneventful and he heard no other signs of any disturbance as he moved through eventually reaching the 5th left turn after a long walk. He went down the left path and began to hear a loud chugging sound as well as some muffled screams…) Ricky: She’s here… (Ricky slowly moved through the area and saw these large chugging steam engines as well as…) Ricky: Ahh! (Ricky had found Alina, she was still handcuffed but her mouth was taped. But he had also found another startling surprise… YSO Agents, each chained to separate ducts all strangely facing the wall.) Alina: *Upon seeing Ricky* Mmm! Mmm! Mmm! Ricky: Alina… *Sigh* You’ll be fine now. I’ve got you. (Ricky bends over and untapes Alina’s mouth.) Alina: *Breathing heavily* Ricky! You’re here!?… Ricky: Yeah. Surprised? *Smiles* Alina: Please, Ricky. I’m sorry about everything, just please help me! What time is it? Ricky & ??? Woman: It’s 11:13 (a.m.) Ricky: Huh? *Looks around* ??? Woman: Why leaving so soon? We have about 5 hours before the steam is released. Surely we can use up some of that extra time, no? (A woman with bright red hair walked in the room, she wore a black trench coat and had eerie green eyes….) Ricky: Who are you? ??? Woman: My name is unimportant. But I’m more curious as to who you are. You’re obviously not one these fools *Points to the chained YSO Agents* but you’re no civilian, either. So enlighten me, “Ricky“, who are you? Ricky: You know my first name, no need for you to know anymore. Are you a terrorist? ??? Woman: Terrorists use terror to coerce people into doing what they ask. That is not what we are about. Ricky: You don’t call killing thousands in airports across the country causing worldwide panic and demanding $500 million an act of coercion? ??? Woman: *Laughs* You’re funny. I like that in a man… But it seems as though your heart is already taken, why else would you come all this way? Ricky: … ??? Woman: Whoever you are, you’re going to stick around for the show. BOOM! (Ricky pulled out his gun to take a shot at the woman but as he tried to pull the trigger, he felt his hand being controlled and simply dropped the gun.) Ricky: What the hell?! Was that you? ??? Woman: “No need for you to know anymore,” those were your own words, were they not? *Laughs* Ricky: …. ??? Woman: No need to answer then. And I wouldn’t dare try to pick up your gun… Unless you want it to blow some unfortunate little girl’s brains out… *Laughs* Ricky: You like to laugh, don’t you? (Refusing to listen to the woman, Ricky ran for his gun, grabbed it and aimed at the woman but he was stopped cold. He couldn’t move on his own will.) ??? Woman: Laughter is the sweetest thing in life, Ricky. *Laughs* You couldn’t listen to me, could you, Ricky? I told you what would happen…. Ricky: Alina… No… (The woman forced Ricky to aim his gun at Alina’s head…) Alina: Oh my God! Please! Please don’t kill me! *Starts crying* ??? Woman: But I said a little girl, didn’t I? *Laughs* (With Ricky still frozen, the woman went back from where she came and with her she had a small child, a little girl no more than 8 years old.) Ricky: What the hell!? You couldn’t possibly… Little Girl: *Crying* Mommy! Mommy, where are you?! ??? Woman: Next time, you’ll learn to listen to me. Alina: Oh my God, Ricky, you can’t! Stop it! (The woman positioned Ricky’s hands so that he was now aiming directly at the little girl’s head.) Ricky: Hey! Stop this! Don’t do this! ??? Woman: I’m not doing anything… You’re the one with the gun in your hand. *Laughs* Ricky: Stop this! This isn’t funny!! ??? Woman: Everything is funny in life… You just have to have the right perspective. Ricky & Alina: Noooo!!!! BOOM! (Ricky fired the shot….He had closed his eyes before the shot went off and when he opened them…) Ricky: Huh? She’s still alive… What happened? ??? Woman: I am a soldier, not a monster. *To the little girl* Go. (The woman had slightly altered Ricky’s position just enough so that he wouldn’t hit the child but just enough so that he wouldn’t notice that he had been moved either.) Alina: Thank God… ??? Woman: Next time… The joke will truly be on you. Ricky: Who the hell are you? ??? Woman: Ha, you’ve been a good sport. My name is No… (Out of nowhere, a man came from behind the woman, grabbed her by the neck and brought her down.) Alina: Huh? Could that be…? Victor: Alina! Alina: Victor, it is you! (It was Victor, the man from the airplane.) Alina: Victor, you came for me? Victor: Of course. But first we’ve got to get you out of these handcuffs. Ricky, can you help me out? Ricky: (This bastard is stealing the show now…?) Huh?… Ok. Victor: I have a key so… I’ll try it. It’s good. (Victor used the key he found off the woman and used it on Alina’s handcuffs, it unlocked it. Alina stood up and hugged Victor.) Alina: Thank you so much… Ricky: (What about me?…) Alina: And you too, Ricky. Thank you. Ricky: What about the YSO Agents? Victor: They’re in chains… I’m not sure if the key will work. Ricky: How the hell do we get them out of those chains then? RING! RING! (Ricky picked up his phone.) Ricky: Hello? Crockett: Rick… Are you ok? Ricky: Yeah. Alina is safe. Crockett: Great! Ricky: But there’s bad news… The terrorists have the YSO Agents that came in chained up to steam ducts themselves…. Crockett: What!? Ricky: And there’s no way to get them out of it… It’s 1:02 (p.m.) now. That’s less than 3 hours before… Crockett: How many agents are there? Ricky: Four. But it’s weird, Gary… The ducts are all facing a wall. Once they blow, all the steam is gonna hit the wall, why could that be? Crockett: No idea. Rick, get those agents out of those chains as fast as you can and be careful… But if you can’t, you need to evacuate that area 30 minutes before the steam is set to blow… Ricky: Thirty minutes?! But that leaves me less time… Crockett: I know Rick. But it’s the only way you’ll make it out of there alive… That steam will boil you. Ricky: Damn it, Gary… Ok. I’ve got to get to work then. Crockett: Stay safe, Ricky. (Ricky hung up the phone.) Victor: Who was that? Ricky: A friend. Victor, help me get those guys out of the chains, we’ve got to work fast. We don’t have much time left… Victor: Ok. But I don’t know how we’ll get them all out. They’re locked in tight…. Ricky: We’ve got to try… (The two of them worked for hours trying to get the chains off the agents, who were knocked out cold. But their efforts were futile as the clock ticked down to 3:25 (p.m.).) Victor: It’s no use…. Ricky: Shit… And it’s almost 3:30... *Sigh* We have to go… Fuck! I can’t do this…. I can’t leave these guys here… Not like this… Alina: Ricky, we’ve done what we can! Ricky: Damn it, Alina! *Sigh* …Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! *Sigh* Alright, then… I’m sorry guys… (The three of them ran out of the room, strangely enough, the woman that Victor had knocked out was gone…) Ricky: ….She’s gone? Victor: No time to worry about that… We have to move! (The three of them hurried out of the room and ran down the long path… After 30 minutes, they heard a huge explosion, the steam ducts had went off at the scheduled time. The YSO agents had been cooked…) Alina: …That’s so horrible… Ricky: … Victor: We’re almost to the exit… (They got closer towards exit when…) Alina: Where’s Victor? Ricky: What? Alina: He’s gone. Ricky: Where did he go? Alina: I wouldn’t be asking if I knew… We have to go look for him. He could’ve been hurt! Ricky: No, Alina. It’s too dangerous. Come on… Chasing after Victor got you into all this, remember? Alina: …Yeah. Yeah, you’re right…*Sigh* (Alina kept following Ricky as they reached the ladder to exit the manhole. Part II: Children of the Grave (Now inside of a high security underground prison in the Uriel Desert, Ricky waited inside of his cell… He was angry, afraid and disillusioned by these events. He sat in his cell quietly as a guard approached him.) Prison Guard: You have a visitor, Falcon. Ricky: A visitor? Who? Prison Guard: Just get out of the cell. Ricky: It’s not some fat, bald guy, is it? If it is I don’t… Prison Guard: Just get the fuck out of the cell!! (Ricky walked out of the cell and followed the guard to the visiting area, he immediately noticed his visitor.) Ricky: Gary? (Crockett was sitting at a table as Ricky followed the guard towards him.) Crockett: Ricky, good to see you man. Ricky: I wish we were seeing each other under better circumstances… Prison Guard: 15 minutes and you’re done. (The guard left and both Ricky and Crockett sat down.) Ricky: I’m guessing you got word of what happened. Crockett: Of course. I wouldn’t have come all the way out here had I not. Ricky: I didn’t do it, Gary… I didn’t kill those cops… Crockett: I know you didn’t Rick… I believe you. But the knife, how do you explain that? Ricky: …I don’t know. Someone must have planted it on me… Crockett: But who? It was just you and Alina, right? Ricky: No. Could he have…? Wait a minute… Crockett: What is it, Rick? Ricky: There was another guy, Gary. A guy named Victor. Alina and I met him on the plane ride back from Ferdinand. Crockett: And he was in the sewers? Ricky: Yeah… It’s strange. I never realized it until just now because I wasn’t thinking clearly with all that was going on. But it’s weird how he knew where to find Alina… And he was also the guy that Alina was running to in that speed boat before that explosion… Crockett: Victor seems to always be around during trouble, then. I wouldn’t call that coincidence Rick. Ricky: I don’t believe in them anyway. Crockett: So what happened to this “Victor?” Ricky: That’s the thing… He just disappeared before we reached the ladder. Maybe because he knew something… Crockett: He could have put the knife on you before then Ricky: I definitely did not kill those cops. I heard them when they were killed… It was awful… Crockett: *Sigh* …You shouldn’t have went down there, Rick… Ricky: Alina needed help, I saved her life. It was worth it. Speaking of which, where is she? What happened to Alina? Crockett: They took her in for questioning and that’s all I know… Ricky: *Sigh* Crockett: Anything else funny go on down there, Rick? Ricky: Yeah… The weirdest thing of all. There was a woman with bright red hair and eyes… Funny looking eyes, a very bright green, almost cat-like but that wasn’t the strange thing about her… She, she could control me… Crockett: What? What do you mean “control you?” Ricky: I don’t know, it was like, she would freeze me and I could only move when she let me… It was so surreal… Like magic, almost. Crockett: Magic? Hmm… That is strange. Did you tell the police all of this? Ricky: Of course. But they didn’t believe me, obviously or I wouldn’t be here. Crockett: Why didn’t you tell me when I had called? Ricky: I was in a panicked state of mind. My thoughts were racing…. I should have told you, I know but… *Sigh* Crockett: I understand. Ricky: Gary… You’ve got to talk to Gorman. I didn’t do this, I swear it. I’m not supposed to be in here… Crockett: My word doesn’t carry as much weight as it once did Rick and everyone in the department knows that we’re tight. *Sigh* I’ll do what I can but I’ll make no promises… Ricky: Thanks, Gary… And how are you doing? You doing ok all things considered? Crockett: I, I’m making out…as best as I can. *Sigh* But it’s hard… It’s hard not having her around anymore… It’ll take some time but I think I will recover. Ricky: Gary… I wish there was more that I could do. Crockett: You’ve done enough Rick. Heh. I’d say you’ve done too much. Ricky: But seriously Gary. Take care of yourself. Crockett: Thanks. (The prison guard returned.) Prison Guard: Times up! (Ricky and Crockett both stood up and shook hands as Ricky walked off following the guard.) Crockett: I’ll talk to Gorman and see what I can do, Ricky, until then…Stay tough! “Up!!!” “Get the fuck up and get out there right now!” (Ricky woke up the next morning to sound of a screaming guard… He was getting used to it, though. He had been in the prison for a week with no sign of Crockett or Gorman or anyone.) Ricky: *To a guard* So what’s on our plates for today? Oatmeal? Prison Guard: You know Falcon… You’re an annoying prick, anyone ever told you that? Ricky: Hah. Yeah, my boss. Or my former boss now. Prison Guard: Heh. I know who you are… They all do, Falcon. Ricky: Then you’d know just how dangerous I am. Prison Guard: Was that a threat? Ricky: No. Prison Guard: It better not have been… Remember, I’m the power in this hall. And just as a little incentive to keep that tongue of yours in line… Do you know what happens to a cop in jail? Ricky: … Prison Guard: *Laughs* You’ll be a human toilet… Brutalized, humiliated, every single day… Every single day. So remember, I’m all that’s keeping your ass from getting pounded in the showers twice a day. Keep that in mind, Falcon next time you decide to speak… Ricky: … (Ricky marched along towards the lunch hall without saying a word. After getting his tray of gruel, he took his usual seat…alone. As he looked around, he could hear people talking…) Inmate 2: Yeah. He’s that cop. Inmate 6: He probably knows that jerk off that put me in here… Probably best buds with him or something…. Ha. I’ve got something for him…later. (Ricky became uneasy as he continued to listen in on the inmates talking about him but as he was watching them, another inmate took a seat right in front of him.) ??? Inmate: Mind if I sit here? Ricky: … ??? Inmate: That a yes? Ricky: Listen I don’t want any trouble… ??? Inmate: Then don’t you think you might want a friend? It’s dangerous in these parts to hang alone. Ricky: …Ok. (The inmate sat down, he was an older guy, maybe in his late 40‘s early 50‘s but he was in great shape, more than likely due to prison training…) ??? Inmate: You’re that cop, right? Ricky: How’d you guess? ??? Inmate: Cause you’re the talk of the town. Figured I should come and check you out… Ricky: Hey! Listen, I said I didn’t want any trouble! If you wanna play that stuff!… ??? Inmate: Calm down. It’s nothing like that. My name’s Sean. Ricky: Nice to meet you… I guess. Sean: *Laughs* You should lighten up. Ricky: …Yeah. Sean: So, let’s start with tired, old inmate talk, eh? What are you in for? Ricky: Don’t you know that already? Sean: It’s a conversation starter. Ricky: You sure do know how to start a conversation, then, don’t you? Sean: Ha. Well… My story is your standard one… I’ve been here 25 long years and counting… Ricky: And what exactly did you do to get 25 years and counting, “friend?” Sean: Setting a building on fire and killing 550 people will get you life in prison… Ricky: So you’re some sick arsonist? Sean: Judging me, already? *Laughs* I never said whether I had even started the fire on purpose. Ricky: You don’t get life for an accident. Sean: And what makes you of all people think the justice system is perfect? Ricky: … Sean: Why so quiet now? I never told you whether I actually did it on purpose or not… *Laughs* Ricky: You seem to fit the bill of a sociopath. You love to hear yourself talk, I see. Sean: Ha. You’re funny. But yeah… I did it. I burned them all up on purpose… All cooked to the bone. Ricky: You enjoyed that didn’t you? Sean: I mainly enjoyed the smell… The smell of the gas burning. You see Ricky, I liked the smell, it got me interested in chemicals and concoctions of that sort…. I haven’t been able to get my hands on anything like that since I’ve been here so I guess the system does work at the end of the day. Wouldn’t you agree? Ricky: … Sean: You’re no slouch either from what I hear, though… Actually, I’d say you’re worse… Much worse. Ricky: Shut up… Sean: You hacked those cops to shreds…. The news said that they had been hacked into 55 pieces total. What a number? 55 pieces of severed human flesh. What was that like? Ricky: I wouldn’t know. Sean: Let me guess, you were framed? (Ricky looked at Sean, suspiciously…) Ricky: What are you talking about? Sean: If you didn’t do it and there were a few cops hacked into 55 pieces… Then who did? That’s the essence of being framed. *Laughs* (Ricky got up.) Sean: Where you going? *Laughs* (Ricky walked off and walked up to the guard.) Ricky: Can I go back in my cell? Prison Guard: Got a scare, Falcon? Heh, heh. Sure. You can go. (Ricky walked out of the lunch hall and headed towards his cell. He walked in and laid down once again.) “Falcon! Get up!” “Wake the hell up!” (Once again, Ricky was awakened by the sound of a guard’s screaming voice… But this was different. The guard had specifically called him.) Ricky: *Groggily*…Wha…? …Huh?… Prison Guard: Get your ass up! (Still groggy, Ricky rolled over and looked out at the hall. It was still dark…) Ricky: …What… time is it?… Prison Guard: Time to wake up… That’s what. Get out of the bed, now. Ricky: What’s this about…? (The prison guard didn’t respond as Ricky rolled out of the bed and followed the guard out of the cell.) Ricky: Where are we going? Prison Guard: Keep your mouth shut. Remember what I told you? Ricky: (How could I forget…?) (Ricky kept quiet as the guard took him down a hall he had never been too. It was dark…) Ricky: Oh shit!! Ugh… Ooof…. *Cough* (The guard had led Ricky into a trap. 5 Prison guards all beat the hell out of Ricky, they stomped him, the smacked him around, punched him in the face and beat him with their night sticks… And as the final topping…) Ricky: Hey! Ah…Shit… Fuck… …Don’t… Ugh… shoot! Come on…You’ve done enough… I get…the *Cough* point! BOOM! Ricky: Ahhh!… Fuck!! (One of the guards shot Ricky in his left arm, it was just a flesh wound, though. And after that, the guards stopped and lifted Ricky up as he was groaning in pain and carried him down another dark hall.) Ricky: …*Out of breath* …What was that…the first…fucking…course? (The guards didn’t answer as they carried Ricky through more dark halls until they reached a door.) Prison Guard: Final destination, Ricky… Oh and this last one is just because you were such an asshole. Ricky: ..Wha… BAM! Jesus! (The Prison Guard bashed Ricky’s head into the door as they laid him in front of the door and each walked off.) Ricky: ..*Groggy* …Wha… Whe… Huh…? (As the guards walked off, the door that Ricky was posted on opened. Ricky’s head took another hard blow as the door opened and he lost the support of it.) Crockett: Jesus Christ! I thought you said they were just gonna shake him up a bit!? Ricky: …Ga..ry…? ???: You can’t make cake without breaking a few eggs. They have to make this look real… And from the looks of it…. Heh. (Crockett bent over and checked on Ricky while the other guy walked back towards the desk and sat down…) Crockett: Rick, you alright man? Do you know where you’re at? Can you breathe? Ricky: …Yea… Gary… What the…fuck *Deep breath* was that…? Crockett: Can you get up Rick? Ricky: No… Jesus man… No… What the…fuck was that? (Crockett helped Ricky to his feet but as Ricky planted his two feet on the ground… He stumbled. Crockett sat him down in the chair and stood next to the guy in the desk chair right in front of Ricky.) Ricky: Who…are you…? (The man sitting across from Ricky was an older guy, at least in his early to mid 50’s. He had blonde hair and a thick goatee, he could pass for a Viking of some sort if this were in a different time period as his build was also quite large.) ???: Terpin H. Yura… Ricky: Wait a minute… Terpin: I’m the King of Yura. (Ricky stared at the man in disbelief as their conversation began….) |

(Terpin, the King of Yura began to talk to Ricky who’s head was still spinning a bit.) Terpin: I bet you’re wondering why you’re here. Ricky: Err… I’m actually more curious as to why the King of Yura would come to a shithole like this… Terpin: Ha. You have quite a sense of humor there. Ricky: It’s my best trait… Terpin: It’s also the one that’s gotten you in the most trouble. I read your file. (Terpin pulled out a large folder stacked with papers and pulled out one sheet and handed it to Ricky.) Terpin: Very impressive. 23 years old and already a junior detective. 93 arrests in the 2 years you‘ve been on the force, again, very impressive. (Ricky put his hand over his head as Terpin continued to talk…) Terpin: But your attitude with authority seems to be the one glaring mark on your record. Crockett: Ricky’s had his clashes with Gorman, your highness but I wouldn’t say he has a problem with authority. Terpin: I’ve told you already, Mr. Crockett, call me Terpin. Crockett: But you’re the King. It’s only respectful… Terpin: I’m merely a figurehead at this point… We all are anyways, all of us monarchs. We have no real power anymore, it all lies in the hands of the people. I’m a normal man. Just like you, Mr. Crockett. Ricky: …Ok then, Terpin, what was that beating for, exactly? Explain that. Terpin: I’m getting to that. Ricky: And Gary, you were in on this? Crockett: I said I’d do what I could to get you out of there… Ricky: So I’m getting out, then? I’m grateful, no doubt, but I could’ve did without the blows to the head…And my arm… They shot me. Terpin: …Err… I suppose they wanted to make it look as realistic as they possibly could. Ricky: What are you talking about!? Make what look realistic? Terpin: Police brutality. That little beating was a staged act of police brutality… Ricky: Staged? For what? Terpin: That’s right. To get you out of this prison, that’s what. You’re a murderer in terms of public perception. We’re using an act of police brutality to give us a reason to ship you to another prison. Ricky: …I still don’t get it… Crockett: Everyone has heard about what happened with you down in the sewers, if we released you out of jail with a simple pardon from the King, everyone would want answers as to why. Ricky: …So this is a matter of keeping your image in tact, what about me? What about my image!? I’ve been branded a murderer! Terpin: Until proven otherwise, you are one. Although, my power may have been reduced, I am still a King even if only a figurehead but I’m a symbol of Yura’s strength. You, Ricky, are a criminal…Whether you like it or not. Ricky: Gary… I told you, I didn’t do it. You said you believed me! Crockett: *Sigh* Rick… That’s not what this is about. I do believe you but it was the only way I could get you out of here… Ricky: Yeah… But I’m just being moved to another prison, I’m getting out of here but not jail? This some kind of twisted joke!? Crockett: Ricky, calm down. You are getting out of prison… Terpin: When we fly you off to another facility, we’re going to stage a hijacking and during the hijacking, you’re going to jump off the plane and then the plan hatches… Ricky: What? What is this? What are you guys not telling me? Crockett: Rick… *Sigh* Ricky: What is this Gary? What the hell is this!? Terpin: You’re to investigate a situation in the kingdom of Loira. In the town of Windrake. Ricky: And what exactly am I supposed to investigate? Crockett: 15 children have gone missing in the last 3 days. 5 per day. We need you to get a hold of any information you can. Ricky: And why is this a matter of concern for Yura? Doesn’t Loira have their own police force? Terpin: Yes, they do. But we need to get tabs on whatever this is. We don’t need children going missing in Yura too. Ricky: … This wouldn’t have anything to do with those terrorists, would it? Crockett: We’re not sure yet. Terpin: As far as we’re concerned, this is a separate matter entirely. Besides, the terrorists only abduct elderly people as far as we know. Ricky: Yeah…As far as you know. And you couldn’t get anyone else on the job besides me? A “criminal?” Crockett: YSO is on so many cases at this point with the explosions and that nasty little situation down in the sewers, Rick. Ricky: … Terpin: I thought you wanted to get out of this place? Ricky: I’m grateful like I said but I’m getting the feeling that I’m not being told something… Terpin: We’ve told you everything you need to know. Ricky: Hmph. And speaking of the sewers, what happened down there? Terpin: …Nothing worth talking about. Anyway, that whole area is closed off. Ricky: So when am I getting out of here? Crockett: 0400 hours from now. Ricky: Military time, Crockett? What’s the occasion? Crockett: Ha. It just felt right to tell you the time that way… Anyway, 7:00 (a.m.) you’re being sent off. (Terpin got up and headed for the door.) Terpin: Well, I have to get out of here now. Nice meeting all of you. Crockett: Great meeting you too, sir. Ricky: … (Terpin walked out of the door. Crockett lit a cigarette and sat in the desk Terpin was sitting in.) Ricky: What’s got you so tense? Crockett: Huh? Oh nothing… You were a bit cold to the King… Ricky: I was cold, you were a brownnoser. Combine the two and we’ll say he got a warm reception. Crockett: Always the same old Rick… Ricky: Gary, be honest with me, is this situation terrorist related? Crockett: We already went over that. Ricky: I want to hear it from your mouth. (Crockett took another puff of his cigarette.) Crockett: Ricky, I told you, I don’t know. Ricky: Ok, then. This bullet wound… You get anything for it? Crockett: Yeah. (Crockett pulled out some alcohol and cotton and gave it to Ricky, who rubbed the wound in with the alcohol.) Ricky: You sure you didn’t know about how bad they were gonna beat me? Crockett: Honest, Ricky. I didn’t know they were gonna take it that far... Ricky: The King seemed to get a kick out of it…. Crockett: What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, Rick… That’s the best way to look at it. Ricky: Ah, it’s ok. I’m just glad that I’m getting out of this garbage dump. Crockett: Glad I could help… Sorry it wasn’t under the best circumstances… Ricky: You kept your word, that’s all that matters. I’m still a little uneasy about all of this but… it’s ok. You know anything about the sewer incident? Anything I don’t know about that the King was unwilling to reveal? Crockett: No. YSO is on it, though. Ricky: Yeah… It more ways than one. Crockett: Funny, Rick… Real funny. Ricky: Bad joke. Since we’re on the topic of the sewers… Hear anything about Alina? Crockett: From what I understand, they just sent her back to college. I guess she’s living a normal life again. Why? You still trying to beat at a dead horse? *Laughs* Ricky: Ha. Well, glad to hear she’s doing ok then. Crockett: So, since you’re getting out, how was your stay? Ricky: I met a few weirdos, some asshole guards and I got my ass kicked about an hour ago. It was great. But what about after this child disappearance thing is over… What am I gonna do? I’m still a criminal according to the King… *Sigh* Crockett: Well, I did another favor for you. I made sure that YSO would be on the case to clear your name. But until then… Ricky: I’m still a criminal. And if I go to Loira, aren’t they gonna know that it’s me? Crockett: Loira’s not that advanced. They’re an isolationist continent… They don’t really follow the ongoings of the rest of the world. Ricky: Alright then… Still can’t believe I don’t get a little rest after that beating, though. Crockett: King’s orders. Ricky: Yeah… Oh and Victor, did you let them know about him or find any info on him? Crockett: Yes, I let them know but they said without his last name, there wasn’t much they could do. Ricky: What about flight records? Crockett: Impossible now. Remember, all flight records and reports of passengers were kept stored in HIA (Hollice International Airport) and now that’s gone. That makes me wonder, though, on the plane, did Victor do anything strange? Ricky: Uh… Hmm… Well, I remember him asking me about the time. Crockett: The time? That’s strange… Ricky: On the surface yes but when you think about it…. We’re on a plane, he may have just been wondering if we were gonna be on time, maybe he had somewhere to go. Crockett: Hmm… I don’t know. The bombing happened at exactly 6:00 p.m., did Victor do anything really funny right before then? Ricky: I wouldn’t know. I took a nap… But I’m pretty sure Alina was awake. She might know something… She’s infatuated with the guy after all. Crockett: I see. Well, I’ll see if I can get in contact with her… Ricky: She’s pretty hostile towards cops… Watch yourself. Heh. Crockett: I’m not a cop anymore, remember? Ricky: Well, do whatever you can. But are you trying to insinuate that Victor might be a terrorist or linked to them in some way? Crockett: Maybe… I’ve got to talk to Alina before I can make any real assumptions, though, Rick. Ricky: Alright. Keep me in the loop on anything that goes down. Crockett: No problem. I’ve got to get out of here now Rick. You’re scheduled flight will take off in about 2 hours from now. Get your head together. Ricky: Later, Gary. And thanks. Crockett: Don’t mention it. (Crockett got up and walked out of the room. A guard came through and escorted Ricky to the changing room. "Come on Falcon... It's time" (Ricky was sitting down on a bench, staring at the outside, thinking when the guard called his name...) "Falcon... It's time." (Ricky got up… He was fully dressed in his own clothing and he had his pistol strapped to his waist. And he began walking down the launch ramp. It was 7 a.m. A few YSO agents were dressed as prison guards and the “hijackers” were already inside the plane.) Agent Nolan: You ready for this? Ricky: Yeah. Agent Nolan: Get inside. (Ricky stepped inside the plane and took a seat. He saw the “hijackers,” they were all masked and sitting with their rifles in hand. Ricky took a seat on the plane next to them.) Ricky: So how are we gonna do this? “Hijacker” #1: … Ricky: Ok… (Agent Nolan and the other YSO Agents dressed as prison guards got on the plane.) Agent Nolan: Ok, everyone ready? (Everyone muttered yes in their own way as the plane started to lift off. Agent Nolan took a seat in front of Ricky.) Agent Nolan: This is for you. (Agent Nolan handed Ricky a bag.) Ricky: What is it? Agent Nolan: A survival kit. Ricky: Survival kit… For what? Agent Nolan: You didn’t get the briefing? Ricky: I was told that I was coming in here to investigate something in a town called Windrake in Loira. Agent Nolan: Yes. Exactly. What’s the problem, then? Ricky: What do I need a survival kit for, then? Agent Nolan: …Just take it. You never know what’ll happen out there. Ricky: … (Ricky strapped the bag to his side as the plane continued to fly towards Loira…) Agent Nolan: Also, here’s your parachute. Ricky: Where’s my landing zone? Agent Nolan: You’re landing in the Sandslew Mountains just outside of the town. Ricky: … Ok… And when’s this hijacking gonna take place? Agent Nolan: When we get to where we need to be. In about 30 minutes. Ricky: *Sigh* Ok. (Ricky sat there quiet. His thoughts were racing as the clock ticked towards “Go” time…) Agent Nolan: You sure you’re ok? Ricky: Fine… *Sigh* How much longer? Agent Nolan: 5 minutes… You can see the mountains coming into view. Ricky: *Breathing heavily* Alright… (Ricky put the parachute on as the “hijackers” got their rifles ready.) Agent Nolan: It’s time! (The “hijackers” all aimed their rifles at the YSO Agents…) Hijacker #1: Freeze! Nobody moves and nobody dies. Hijacker #2: We’re taking the plane. (Ricky headed towards the plane’s side door and opened it… A fierce blast of air hit him.) Ricky: What a gust of wind… Shit… Agent Nolan: Go now, Falcon! Ricky: *Deep breath* (As Ricky leaped out of the plane, he heard gunfire….Real gunfire and screams…) Ricky: *Freefalling* (What the hell…?) (But he couldn’t do anything about it as he slowly and safely descended to the ground with his parachute out…) Ricky: *Breathing heavily* …What was that gunfire? (Ricky looked back up at the plane and saw that instead of turning back towards Yura as planned, it was actually heading towards inner Loira.) Ricky: …What’s going on? (Ricky watched the plane as it flew above him and he saw 4 bodies drop from the plane…) Ricky: …No…. That wasn’t part of the plan… (Ricky dialed Crockett’s number.) RING! RING! (Crockett picked up.) Crockett: Hello? Ricky: Gary, something went wrong! The YSO Agents are dead… Crockett: What!? Ricky: Yeah… Judging by your reaction, that wasn’t supposed to happen. Crockett: …Of course not! What happened!? Did you land ok!? Where are you!? Ricky: Relax. Everything on my end went ok. It was afterward that things soured… Crockett: So you’re in Windrake? Ricky: Not exactly. I landed in the Sandslew Mountains… Crockett: …Good. *Sigh* So what exactly happened to those agents? Ricky: I guess they were shot. I heard gunfire as soon as I jumped off. Crockett: So they weren’t after you, then? Ricky: Doesn’t seem like it. The plane then flew straight over me and into the heart of Loira… The bodies were dropped off somewhere to the… Hold on… *Looks at his compass* Somewhere to the northeast of me. Crockett: Northeast to you? Hmm… Give me a second…. (Ricky put the phone to his side and looked back towards where the bodies dropped and then put the phone by his ear once he heard Crockett’s voice.) Crockett: Rick? Rick? Ricky: Yeah, I’m here. What have you got for me? Crockett: I looked at a map of Loira and saw that directly to the northeast of those mountains is some kind of huge national cemetery. Ricky: National cemetery? Hmm… Crockett: …Coincidence? Ricky: I don’t believe in them, remember? Crockett: …*Sigh* Rick, I’ll talk to the higher ups about this… You just get on your job and don’t worry about it. Ricky: But I don’t even know where to start… And Gary, that Agent… Nolan, I think was his name, he gave me a survival kit, any reason for that? Crockett: You don’t think you’d need a survival kit in a foreign country? Ricky: Ok but it just seems funny…. Crockett: You’re worrying about the wrong things, man. Keep your mind clear. Ricky: How can I keep my mind clear out here, Gary!? I’m in a foreign country and another couple of YSO agents die on me! And I’m really beginning to feel that something isn’t right about this whole thing, Gary. Crockett: Give it a rest, Ricky. You know everything that there’s to know… Ricky: … Crockett: Go south from where you’re at and you should reach Windrake fairly quickly… Ask around the town. Get whatever information you can. Ricky: And the YSO agents? Crockett: Don’t worry about that. I’ll speak to the higher ups like I said. Just focus on this investigation… Ricky: I’m not so sure it’s an investigation anymore, Gary… Crockett: *Sigh* (Ricky hung up the phone on Crockett and headed south for Windrake…) |

(Disgruntled and disturbed, Ricky moved south through the mountain and ended up right outside of a town…) Ricky: This has to be the place. (Ricky headed into the town, it was old fashioned, like it hadn’t seen any type of change for years. Upon entering, Ricky was greeted by a town guard.) Town Guard: Hold on! State your business! Ricky: Err… I’m here on business. Town Guard: Business, eh? And with whom might I ask? Ricky: Your…uh… blacksmith. Town Guard: Liar! The town blacksmith went out of business years ago! Ricky: … Sorry, I just figured you guys still had a blacksmith… Town Guard: *Sigh* Buddy, who exactly are you? Don’t make my job harder than it is… Ricky: You promise you won’t go psychotic if I tell you? Town Guard: Uh… Why would I go psychotic? Is it that bad? Ricky: It’s really not. Town Guard: Ok, shoot. Ricky: I’m here to investigate the situation involving 15 children that have gone missing… Town Guard: So you’re a detective from Gambino?… Ricky: …Yeah, we’ll go with that. Town Guard: Well, why didn’t you say so in the first place? Ricky: …I’m like that Merlock Golmes guy, sort of absent-minded when it comes to basic stuff. Town Guard: Oh, I see. Make sense. Ricky: So, I can go in? Town Guard: Yes. Ricky: Cool. Oh and before I forget, you know anything about the disappearances? Town Guard: I remember hearing some rustling in the woods the other morning around 3:30 (a.m.), which is strange in a small town like this… Ricky: It couldn’t have just been a bird or another animal? Town Guard: Well, that’s what I thought until I looked out the next morning and saw these strange footprints… Ricky: Footprints? Town Guard: Yeah. Ricky: How big were they? Medium-sized? Large? Small? Town Guard: Uh… I guess medium, they weren’t overly large… And they were quite narrow, womanly actually. Ricky: Are the footprints still there? Town Guard: No, we had a bad storm the other night that washed them away but some of your people checked it out? Ricky: My people? Town Guard: Yeah, some other detectives from Gambino checked the situation out. There were two of them, a man and a woman. You didn’t know this? Ricky: Oh, um…yeah, of course I did. Town Guard: You sure? Ricky: Absent-minded detective, remember? Town Guard: Yeah… Ricky: Hmm… So you said the other detectives checked the situation out? What did they come up with? Town Guard: Ah… I don’t really know. When they came I was sleeping, I just heard about it from a friend of mine… His name’s Eli Morrison… He lives in a white house with a gray roof in the west section of town. Oh and he has the best garden in the area so it shouldn’t be hard to find him… Unless he’s working. Ricky: Where does he work? Just in case, he’s not there. Town Guard: At the plant in the north section of town. He’s on the factory line. Ricky: Ok. Nothing else you wanna tell me? Town Guard: *Thinks* Uh… No. If I think of anything else, I’ll come find you. Ricky: Alright. Well, thanks a lot. Town Guard: No problem. And good luck with the case… *Sigh* I just hope those kids are ok… Ricky: We all do. (Ricky walked into the heart of the town…) |

(Ricky saw that the town was very small and quiet. It was like an old farming village, why children would go missing in a place like this puzzled Ricky as he moved through the town before being stopped by a woman…) ??? Woman: Hello, I’m Eliza. Ricky: Oh, hi. I’m Ricky. Eliza: You’re new here. Looking for someone? Ricky: Sort of. I’m a detective investigating the child disappearances… (Eliza’s expression changed to sadness…) Eliza: … Ricky: …I’m sorry. Eliza: No, it’s ok… My little brother was one of the kids… Ricky: I see. *Sigh* Was there anything strange that occurred before or after he disappeared? Eliza: …*Sigh* I try to not think about that day… Ricky: Eliza, I need to know. Eliza: Ok, ok…. A few days before my brother disappeared, him and the other 4 kids who disappeared with him on that day all went to the cemetery… They said they were hunting a ghost or a demon or something like that… Ricky: A ghost? Eliza: Yeah… It was strange but we figured it was just kids being kids… When they came back, they all looked scared and each of them went straight to bed. Ricky: Scared you say? Eliza: Yes. Like something had terrified them… But we figured they were just scared from being in a cemetery and tired from being asleep. Ricky: And then what happened? Eliza: They were gone by the next morning… Ricky: So was this the first batch of child disappearance or was this one of the later cases? Eliza: They were the first to disappear…. Ricky: And the others? Did they also go to this cemetery? Eliza: No. They vanished right after the detectives from Gambino came. Ricky: Is that so? Eliza: Yeah. A few hours after they came, the kids vanished… It was during work hours… We weren’t watching them closely enough. Ricky: And the third batch? Eliza: Again, they disappeared right after the detectives came… Ricky: Hmm…. Don’t you think that’s a little strange? Eliza: …*Sigh* Like I said, I try not to think about it… Ricky: How far is the cemetery from here? Eliza: A couple of miles, not that far, just a ways past the mountain. Ricky: Do you know Eli Morrison? (Eliza smiled) Eliza: Yes, that’s my father. Ricky: Oh. Can I speak with him? Eliza: My father is pretty old and a little grumpy but still strong as an ox… But yeah, I can go see if he’s willing to talk. Ricky: I heard your father worked on a factory line, that true? Eliza: Yeah. My dad is 89 years old, though. Ricky: 89 and still working?… Eliza: Yeah, he won’t quit. Says it helps keep him strong… We want him to stop but he’s stubborn… You’ll see. Follow me. (Eliza took Ricky to her house and went inside as Ricky waited outside.) RING! RING! (Ricky answered his phone.) Ricky: Hello? Crockett: What’s your status, Rick? Ricky: Still on the job. Crockett: Anything new? Ricky: Yeah, apparently, I may have to make a trip to that cemetery anyway. Crockett: …And why is that? Ricky: Before the first group of kids disappeared, they all went to the cemetery to look for a ghost or something and then when they came back to the town, they looked terrified and the next morning they were gone. Crockett: Odd… And the other kids. Ricky: That’s another thing. You know anything about detectives from Gambino? Cause I heard that a man and a woman detective came to investigate the situation and both times they came, a few hours later the kids were gone. Crockett: …No, Rick. I don’t know anything about Gambino detectives. It’s probably just an odd coincidence. Ricky: I don’t think so… So, anything new on your end? Did you get in contact with Alina? Crockett: No. She’s not answering her phone. Ricky: Strange… (Eliza came back out.) Ricky: Ok, Gary. I’ll talk to you later. I have to continue the investigation. Remember, keep me in the loop on whatever happens. Crockett: Ok, Rick. And good luck. (Ricky hung up the phone and looked at Eliza.) Ricky: What’s up? Eliza: Dad said he’ll talk but he’s not in a happy mood, Ricky… Ricky: I can deal with hostility. Eliza: Alright… But just remember, he’s an old man so don’t lose your cool with him please… This whole thing just makes him uneasy, that’s all. Ricky: Alright. Eliza: I’ve got to go to the market so you’ll be in there alone. Ricky: Ok. *Laughs* I’ll be fine, trust me. Eliza: *Smiles* I know. (Eliza walked off as Ricky went into the house to talk to Eli….) |

(Ricky walked inside the old house. Sitting on a chair was a gruff looking man, he resembled a stern grandfatherly man.) Eli: You walk into my house and you don’t even introduce yourself!? Some cop you are. Ricky: …I’m sorry, sir. My name is Ric… Eli: I already know who you are. My daughter told me everything. Ricky: …So then you know what I’m here for. Eli: I know that you’re some *Cough* cop! And the last time cops came through here, 5 more kids went missing! Now I don’t know what you cops are trying to pull but… (Eli went into a coughing fit.) Ricky: Are you ok? (Ricky got up and checked on the guy but he wouldn’t stop coughing…) Eli: *Cough* You… Get off of me! (Ricky stepped away from the old man and sat on the sofa.) Eli: Now… I’ll tell you what I know… But be sure that you know that I’m not telling you this for your own good. I’m telling you this because I can’t get out there and find those kids myself…. Not like this I can’t. I don’t trust any of you. I think you’re all in this… Ricky: Sir. I can assure you that I’m in no way related to the disappearance of… Eli: Save it for your book! I didn’t allow you in my house that you could talk! Now listen and shut up, I’m an old man, I don’t have much time left. Ricky: … Eli: *Cough* Now… I was up at 3:00 a.m. the night those first 5 kids disappeared. I saw them follow behind something… Ricky: What was it? Eli: Shut up! I’m getting to that… Anyway, it was an old man….Maybe a few years younger than me. I couldn’t really tell. He had dogs with him, though. And there was this odd beeping noise… Ricky: Beeping? Eli: Yes… It was persistent. It drove me insane, that’s why I was up so late. I have this hearing aid which allows me to hear supersonic sounds… Ricky: Supersonic sounds? So, you’re saying that it’s possible that only you could have heard it? Eli: Yes. Ricky: And how long did you hear the sound for? Eli: Bah, I don’t know… Maybe 4 hours earlier. This town typically shuts down by ten but it was a Saturday night so people were up a little later. But that damn noise kept bothering me… Ricky: I see. And is this the only time you’ve ever heard that noise before? Eli: Yes, I think… I’m not sure… This whole thing is insane… Ricky: Yes it is. Eli: …It’s almost like the Deamon Foxx murders… Ricky: The what? Eli: Deamon Foxx murders… Many years ago, way before you were born, a man named Deamon Foxx terrorized the globe murdering innocent people…. He slaughtered quite a few here in Windrake from what I can remember and stole a girl… Ricky: So this is similar to that, you think? Eli: … Maybe not. But that’s the only time I can remember this town being so bleak… Ricky: Interesting. A copycat maybe? Eli: … Ricky: Who was the girl this “Deamon” stole? Eli: …Ah… Hmm… I forget her name. Her parents died years ago, though and I believe she was an only child… Ricky: So the murderer didn’t kill her? Eli: …No. She ran away with him for love I believe… Ricky: I see. Well, I’ll look into that and see if there’s some kind of connection. Do you know anything about the graveyard situation and those other detectives? Eli: All I know is what I’ve been told from others in the town… If I were younger, I’d have already been over there… Ricky: Alright, that’s all you’ve got for me, right? Eli: Yes. A rustling in the woods and an annoying beeping sound… Ricky: And then there’s the graveyard situation. Eli: …Hmm… Yes. Ricky: Anyone you think I should talk to? Eli: Not that I know of. Ricky: Alright, thanks. (Ricky got up and headed for the door.) Eli: *Cough* Wait a minute. (Ricky turned around.) Eli: Can I see your badge? Ricky: …My badge? (Shit…) Eli: Yes. Ricky: Uh… Eli: …You’re no cop, are you? Ricky: …Listen, I… Eli: Who are you? Ricky: *Sigh* I am… Or I was a detective from the continent of Yura. Eli: Yura? And you were a detective? So what are you doing here now? Ricky: Investigating the situation… Eli: On Yura’s behalf? Ricky: …Yes. Eli: But you’re not a detective anymore, you say? Ricky: …It’s a tough situation to explain. Eli: I see. Ricky: Mr. Morrison, please, I know this sounds strange but I really am here to help those kids… Eli: I know. I can tell. You’re passionate about this… I don’t know what it is exactly that you’re doing here but I don’t see any type of malice in your heart. Ricky: …Thanks… So can we keep this between us? Eli: I’m more curious as to how you got into town in the first place… But yes. We can keep this between us. Ricky: Thank you. And I’ll make sure those kids come back safe…. Eli: …My son is one of those kids, Ricky… Ricky: …I know. They’ll be brought to justice, Mr. Morrison. Eli: Call me Eli. And before you go, Ricky… (Eli pulled one of his hearing aids out of his ear and wiped it down with a disinfectant wipe and handed it to Ricky…) Eli: Take this hearing aid. Put it in your left ear. I don’t know if that beeping sound can be heard by the naked ear… Use it wisely. (Ricky took the hearing aid and put it in his ear.) Ricky: Thank you. This will be a great help. (Eliza walked in as Ricky was walking out of the door. She gave Ricky a funny look when she walked by…) Ricky: *Smiling* Everything went well, Eliza. Thank you for introducing your father, he’s a good man. (Eliza smiled back and went off to put the groceries away as Ricky walked out of the door and headed out of the town towards the cemetery…) |

(Night was beginning to fall as Ricky traveled on the long path to the cemetery. With the hearing aid, he had gotten from Eli, Ricky could hear sounds of the lowest frequency… From birds chirping to small insects moving, he could hear it all as he walked down the path listening for any suspicious noises…) Ricky: (It’s getting dark… And this is the country, there are no street lights…) *Sigh* (Ricky continued moving towards the cemetery as the area around him became pitch black quickly. He began to rely on the hearing aid to alert him to anything that was strange since his field of vision was now limited… The cemetery was about a football field’s length away now and Ricky could see the gravestones illuminating the darkness….) Ricky: This is it, Ricky. You don’t know what you’re gonna find here… (Ricky took a deep breath and continued as he finally reached the cemetery and read the words written on a plaque outside of the gates.) Ricky: Reman National Cemetery, “Resting place for tired soldiers who have fulfilled a life of service, honor and duty to their country…” (Ricky walked into the actual cemetery, it was huge… The scale and design of the area was incredible, every gravestone was symmetrically uniform. The cemetery was empty as Ricky walked through marveling at the incredible design but the thought of being alone in a cemetery at night did disturb him somewhat as he walked around looking for the bodies of the YSO Agents or anything that could help him find the children…) Ricky: *Looking at a gravestone* “An angel taken from us far too soon, you will not be forgotten…. Vinnie Zapata.” Wow… He was only 21 years old when he died… (Ricky walked around and looked at other graves that attracted his attention…) Ricky: *Looking at a gravestone* “Riley Torrell. Ingenious inventor, scholar and professor and above all, beloved father and husband” Wow. He was only 34 when he died… Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep “Yes. Quiet young…” (Ricky heard a persistent beeping sound as well as a gruff, old voice come through from behind him and quickly turned around to see an old man behind him….) Ricky: Who are you!? Why are you sneaking up on me like that!? (The old man gave Ricky a funny look, he wore a long black coat and had short gray hair and a razor clean face… His eyes were grayish blue and you could tell that he had a great physique in his younger days…) ??? Old Man: The name’s Krist Derrion… (Ricky took a step back from the old man and looked him directly in the eye as the beeping sound persisted…) Ricky: You like sneaking up on people like that? Krist: It is nighttime in a cemetery… These souls are eternally resting, I give them the same courtesy that I would give anyone else who is resting. (Ricky was still on alert about the old man and glared at him intensely as he began to speak…) Ricky: I see. So, did you know him? Krist: Ha. No, I’m not quite that old. But I know my history… Do you know yours? Ricky: I wasn’t much of a history person, “Krist.” Sorry. Krist: …Most youth of today aren’t. But I can’t blame them… I wouldn’t trust the crap that the history books say, anyway. Ricky: So, who was this guy since you’re so interested in him? …Or are you more interested in me? Krist: Don’t flatter yourself. Riley Torell was the genius inventor who designed the prototype for the modern semi-automatic rifle. His ideas at the time were challenged and thrown out of the window by a cruel public not ready to truly visualize his vision. He was originally buried in Yura, where he was from, however his body was moved here when the Loirans acknowledged him as the true inventor of the modern rifle…. You may think that means nothing to you but he also designed a prototype for the modern handgun as well, which I noticed you have strapped to your waist. Ricky: Hmm… So you’ve been watching me? Krist: Again, don’t flatter yourself. I noticed you grab at your side when you came in, you grabbed it like a police would. You’re no civilian, are you? Ricky: …Not exactly, no. Krist: Ha. You have the look of a cop. Anyone who’s been near one could see it in you. You smell like a cop. Ricky: You afraid of the cops or something? Got anything to hide? Krist: Are you trying to imply something…Ricky? Ricky: So, you have been watching me. Krist: Yes. I know who you are. And I assume that you know who I am.. Ricky: You’re the kidnapper. Where are they? Krist: Who? Ricky: The children, you fucking pervert! Krist: Pervert? Heh. Ricky: Yeah, a pervert. Why else would an old son of a bitch like you take 15 children from their homes? Don’t tell me you just wanted to take them out camping… Or was that it, “Krist?” Krist: Heh. What makes you think I took the children? Ricky: One of the villagers from Windrake gave a perfect description of you making the children following you. He had you right down to the beeping pacemaker that you’re wearing. You didn’t realize that someone heard you in the night, did you? Krist: Oh. Did he? Ricky: Stop playing stupid! Where are the kids?! (Ricky pulled out his gun and aimed it at Krist…) Ricky: You gonna be more willing to talk, now? Krist: You can’t shoot me. Heh. I’m the only link you have to those kids… Ricky: Where the hell are they!? Start talking! Krist: Have you ever killed a man before Ricky?… Heh. Or should I ask, have you ever killed a child before? Ricky: *Disturbed* Why are you asking me that!? Krist: Because what you seek…. Is all around you!! Ricky: Huh…? (Ricky looked around and saw 15 children marching towards him from all directions… Each dressed in a BDU and equipped with a rifle. Ricky looked back at Krist when…) Krist: Yaaah!! (Out of nowhere Krist pulled out his blade from it’s case behind his back and slashed Ricky’s pistol in two with his blade. Both pieces of the gun dropped out of Ricky’s hands as the children drew in closer.) Krist: Defenseless and bemused, what’s Detective Falcon going to do? *Laughs* (The children continued to march towards Ricky as Krist slowly backed away…) Krist: Now’s the time to show whether you can prove the naysayers wrong! But you have no weapon? If you run, they’ll shoot you. But if you stand and fight… You’re a real murderer. (Krist continued to slowly back away, Ricky made an attempt to chase after him but stopped after looking back at the children…) Krist: An old friend…A dear old friend taught me that outsmarting the enemy rather than overpowering him is the most valuable tool when facing even the most impossible of odds… Listen to my words, “friend…” (Krist dipped away into the shadows…) Ricky: What are you talking about!? Get back here! And what do you mean, “friend?….” (Krist didn’t respond as Ricky turned around to see the children all gazing at him, they looked like little soldiers…) |

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; And if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take (Each with an eerie fixed gaze on Ricky, the children chanted the prayer. They all lifted their rifles to Ricky as he looked at each one of them… Unsure what to do next…) Ricky: (What do I do next?… I can’t hurt these kids…Can I? No… But they’re gonna shoot me….) (The children continued to chant as Ricky continued to contemplate what to do… They were at point blank range, if the children fired their rifles, Ricky was dead for sure, there was no way they could miss…. But he couldn’t hurt the children either…. It was unfair predicament to be put in…) Ricky: Ok… Kids. I’m a detective…. And I would really appreciate it if you all would just put your weapons down. They are not toys and… (This remark just seemed to make the kids angry as they all now aimed directly at Ricky’s face…) Ricky: *Gulp* (Ok… Ricky… Think, man. They’re just kids…) Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; And if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take (The children began their chant again as Ricky started fidgeting around while they aimed at his head… And then he realized something…) Ricky: *Breathing heavily* I still have that…survival kit… (Ricky grabbed around at his bag and started digging inside without looking in because he couldn’t move his head. He was grabbing medical supplies like bandages, styptics, and other tools for recovery…) Ricky: …This won’t do… (Ricky kept digging in and moving things around until he felt something round…) Ricky: What is this….? (Ricky grabbed on to the round object… And pulled it out of his bag. He moved his head slightly and saw what it was…) Ricky: …A grenade!? (Upon hearing this, the chanting children stopped and each of them took their gaze off of Ricky and focused on the grenade, effectively dropping their rifles down away from Ricky’s face.) Ricky: Yaaah! (Ricky took the opportunity that he was given and flipped one of the children on his back giving him enough room to run through the cemetery… Seeing Ricky escape, the children began to fire at him…) Ricky: Shit! (Ricky ran through the cemetery as hard as he could…The kids were firing sloppily at him, they were poor shots obviously and they were destroying the gravestones with each shot… But Ricky continued to move through as fast as he could until he reached the gates where he saw….) Ricky: Holy shit! It’s the YSO Agents… (The dead bodies of the four YSO Agents were piled on top of each other right in front of the gates. With the hearing aid, Ricky could hear the children’s shots still being fired and decided to look for a place to take cover. He found one behind an unusually large tree and dialed Crockett’s number.) Crockett: Hello? Ricky: *Whispering* Gary… It’s me, Ricky. Crockett: Speak up, Rick. I can barely here you. Ricky: Listen, I can’t. I’m in trouble, Gary, I found the YSO Agents and…the kids… Crockett: In trouble!? Rick, what’s going on!? Ricky: …I don’t know yet. I met the guy who took the kids in the cemetery… Crockett: Really? Who was it? Ricky: Some old guy… Krist was his name, I think but… Crockett: Did you say, “Krist?” Ricky: Yeah. Why? Do you know something? Crockett: Huh? No, it’s nothing… Ricky: Gary, what do you know?! Crockett: …*Sigh* What happened with the kids, Rick? Ricky: Gary… What are you trying to hide from me? Because you’re doing a shitty job of it… Crockett: *Sigh* Ricky, don’t worry about that right now. Anyway, what’s wrong with the kids? What did they do to them? Ricky: I’m losing faith in you, Gary… *Sigh* The kids were acting strange… They were chanting this prayer and each of them were dressed like mini soldiers and they all had rifles and… Crockett: Rifles? Did they use them? Ricky: I was getting to that… Crockett: Say that again Rick, I can’t hear you. You’re talking to low. Ricky: I said, I was getting to that. Crockett: Oh. Ok. Ricky: Anyway, yeah. I got away from them and they started to shoot at me… And then I found the YSO Agents in front of the cemetery gates… They weren’t there when I had came. Crockett: Ricky… That can’t mean anything good. Ricky: Yeah. I’m in hiding right now… But I can still hear those kids out there, they’re still after me. What do I do? I don’t want to hurt them but… they’ll kill me. Crockett: *Sigh* It’s one hell of a predicament to be in… Ricky: Especially after I promised to bring those kids back… That was my mission in the first place… And speaking of which, Gary, why the hell was there a grenade in my survival kit!? You’ve been in on this entire thing! Why else would you have been there with the King? Crockett: … Ricky: What the fuck is going on, Gary? I’m not gonna ask you again. Crockett: Listen, Rick, I don’t know what you’re trying to get at! I keep telling you that I only know as much as you… Why can’t you just believe me?! Ricky: Because this entire thing smells funny, there’s something very odd about it… And you don’t have to be a detective to realize it, I can just feel it. Crockett: … Ricky: When I get back, if I get back, I want a long talk with you, Gary… I want to look you in the eye. Crockett: Rick… *Sigh* Please, you’ve got to believe me. Ricky: Then give me the right answers…. Or at least all of the answers. Crockett: So you’ve found the kids? Ricky: Yeah. They’re looking for me right now… I can hear them. Crockett: And the YSO Agents? Ricky: Yup. Crockett: Then you’ve done what you needed to do. More than what you needed actually since you’ve found the YSO Agents. I…I’m gonna try and get a report in to the King. Ricky: For what? Crockett: To send in a chopper to come pick you up. Ricky: But what about the kids? Crockett: YSO can handle it from here. Ricky: …. Crockett: What? Ricky: Don’t you think it’s just a little strange that YSO Agents keep dying? They’re supposed to be elite guys but they’re being killed off like flies it seems like… Crockett: …Maybe. But Rick, what else can I do? I’m trying to help you. Ricky: And I appreciate it but it just seems like every time I’m in a situation where YSO Agents are involved things tend to sour… Crockett: One of those situations, you put yourself in…. Ricky: I had to save Alina’s life. I wasn’t just gonna let her die… Crockett: You nearly got yourself killed and you were framed for murder. You’re not exactly being smart about everything Rick… Ricky: Hah. So, did you ever get in contact with Alina? Crockett: No. She still won’t pick up her phone… Ricky: That worries me. Crockett: *Sigh* Me too. But we can’t let that get to us, Rick. Ok? Try to avoid those kids for as long as you can and DO NOT lay a finger on those children under any circumstances, understand? Ricky: I wasn’t planning on it. And the YSO Agents? Crockett: You can’t touch them so I don’t know… Ricky: And what about “Krist?” No. I haven’t forgotten, Gary. Who is he? Crockett: …Just avoid those kids and the chopper will be as soon as it can. Ricky: The guy sliced my pistol in half, Gary. Do you expect me to just forget that I ever met him? Crockett: In half, you say?…. Ricky: Yeah. *Sarcastically* But you obviously know nothing about him, though so… Crockett: … Ricky: Do you need to know my position. Crockett: Unless you moved way out of the cemetery grounds, no. Ricky: Well, I haven’t so I guess I’m good then. Crockett: …Just be careful out there and remember, DON’T lay a hand on those children. Ricky: Yeah, I got that the first time. (Ricky hung up the phone on Crockett and peeked his head out from behind the tree, he could still make out the children’s silhouettes as they marched through fields like a small armed battalion chanting their prayer…) |
