Intro: Detour

(A two-passenger sailboat entered Yollman's Harbor around one o'clock in the afternoon on the twenty-ninth of December. Aboard was a single familiar traveler who had once made an extended stay on the island. One that when viewed upon a map would have been dismissed as a backwater buffer state between Hyrule and Johan. Yet it was on this very island where the boy who would dismantle an empire developed the skills necessary to do so. And it was this same harbor where he launched a boat not unlike his current one on a voyage that would change the global landscape. The traveler was Zeno, the young man who just four days prior had brought down Alvius Carrogen V's tyrannical rule over Hyrule. The island was Sandraudiga, the place where Zeno, who preferred the shorter, 'Z', had lived for four and a half years honing his swordsmanship to accomplish the incredible feat.)

(This journey to Sandraudiga, however, was unlike the last in that it was purposeful. Z's initial landing on the island had been an accidental one; he had been washed ashore due to a shipwreck. And however unexpected that was, this voyage seemed more so. If only due to the timing: Z should have been on his way to Termina to catch up with his loved ones yet he had sailed the opposite way and traveled to Sandraudiga for reasons known only to him.)

(Whatever Z's intent, his unexpected return to Sandraudiga fresh after his victory over Alvius seems to signify some rift between he and those who fought alongside him during the war. All while his freshly-born legend begins to spread across the globe...)

I: Sandraudiga

(Z's boat entered Yollman's Harbor amidst a small crowd of onlookers, most of whom were men who worked on ships stationed in the harbor. As Z's boat sifted through the narrow harbor, the gatherers watched, pointed, and whispered amongst themselves. Z could hear a few especially loud voices chattering.)

"...It's him."

"He's back."

"My goodness, he's looks terrible... Look at those scars.

(All of the voices seemed to focus on his appearance; his beaten, worn appearance. A duel with several psychopaths would do that even to the most talented, or lucky, of warriors. Not to mention twice thwarting a dragon single-mindedly hellbent on causing utter destruction. But as his boat crept closer to the dock, Z directed his gaze past the crowd and onto the outline of two statues standing at the center of the island. The view of these enormous statues dominated the background as they towered over most of the surroundings buildings.)

Z: They completed them.

(Z whispered to himself while he was taking note of the statues. It was not long after that moment when a voice called out to him.)

"Z!"

(It was a female's voice. "That voice...", Z said to himself and turned in the direction of its source. He knew that voice. And she called out again.)

"Z!"

(This time Z spotted her.)

Z: Mika.

(He said, a light grin had now spread his cheeks. Mika waved once she realized that Z knew it was her. As he returned the wave gesture, Z pointed toward the dock as he yelled to her.)

Z: Mika, let's meet up by the dock!

Mika: Okay!

(She agreed. She pushed through the crowd and eventually found herself standing at the edge of the dock. She watched Z steer his boat toward her until he reached the landing point and let down the anchor. Now docked, he looked up at Mika, who had been staring down at him and said...)

Z: How have you been?

Mika: I feel like I should have been the one to ask you that. So...?

Z: I did it.

(Mika's pupils dilated. Her eyes were marked by either great curiosity or confusion, yet most likely a bit of both. As she was about to reply, Z stopped her with an open palm and said...)

Z: Before you ask, yes, Alvius is dead.

(Almost as if it had been planned, the group of onlookers crowded around the two of them and had not even allowed Z a chance to get off of his boat. Z's appearance was a spectacle and everyone wanted to witness 'history'. And the return of Z was undoubtedly 'history'. A fact that Z himself would have contested till he was blue in the face. Refusing to acknowledge the crowd's existence, Z centered his gaze onto Mika, and pointed a finger toward the inland.)

Z: Mika, I'll explain everything at your place. It's too crowded for my taste here...

Mika: Okay. I understand.

(Mika extended her hand to help Z out of his boat. Before grabbing hold of her hand, Z reached for a small backpack and slung it over his shoulders. When his feet touched the ground, he felt a few outstretched hands latch onto his shoulders. Z batted them away with his own hand and began running into the center of town. He waved his hand forward as he ran, gesturing Mika to follow behind. She did.)

(The two of them crossed through the streets of the harbor station and bolted for inner Freuland, the capital city of Sandraudiga. They ran, however, for only a few moments once they realized that no one had bothered to chase them. Most of the crowd had been rugged shipbuilders after all; they weren't exactly the type to chase after teenage children, no matter how famous.)

Mika: Well, I guess we can stop running now...

(She remarked, seeing that the crowd hadn't bothered to follow. Z slowed his pace as well and replied.)

Z: Sure. I just didn't wanna deal with some kinda spectacle.

Mika: But you're Z. I mean, you're the son of the "Vir".

(The "Vir" was what the natives of Sandraudiga called Link. In their old language, "Vir" meant hero. Link earned the title when he claimed victory over the Helmaroc bird that had terrorized much of Sandraudiga for decades.)

Mika: ...Coming to Sandraudiga, especially with the way you had left, kinda warrants a 'spectacle' as you say. But, that's just how I see it anyway.

Z: Yeah, well...

Mika: And that's not even mentioning the news. You beat Alvius! You're a hero like your dad now!

(Z groaned and drooped his head a bit.)

Z: Don't get carried away.

Mika: But-

Z: Mika. You don't know the whole story yet...

(Mika breathed a sigh, then nodded to show her compliance.)

Mika: Fill me in when we get to my house then.

(Z agreed, and the two of them continued on their way to Mika's place.)
