Name: The Grimmfeldt Bloodline Founder: Valkhayn Lucius Gremory History: Organization: The Grimmfeldt bloodline is much tighter knit than most other bloodlines. Instead of being scattered across multiple bloodline covens there exists only one unified Grimmfeldt coven. While many vampires my live their lives outside of the coven all eventually return to Castle Grimmfeldt if a meeting is convened. For this reason all vampires within the coven fall under the control and jurisdiction of Lucius both as the sourceblood and the arch-mage of the University built into and around the original castle. Lucius, however, is merely a first among equals. There exists no great chain of command beyond him having the final word. They are a community who each shares the burden of maintaining the covenant. The believe in a much more intimate siring process which much more ceremony surrounding it. Even after the fledgling vampire is often raised by the entirety of the coven and not just their original sire. More than anything else the Grimmfeldt bloodline is a family not an organization. Defining Characteristics: Physical Characteristics - The Grimmfeldt bloodline are easily identifiable by their blood red irises which almost glow in low light. They are pale skinned like most vampires but lack the deathly parlor. Their skin retains the color of life, if only barely. Additionally their breath is not visible, even in cold weather. Superior Senses - Like many vampire bloodlines the Grimmfeldt possess heightened visual and auditory senses. They can see even in the dead of night and hear through the thickest of walls and longest of distances. Mental Abilities - The Grimmfeldt find the creation of thralls boring. Never the less they possess the natural ability to enthrall and entrap the unwary using their mind. They also have the unique ability to fool spells that would Detect Life or Detect Undeath. Vampires of this bloodline which exceed the age of three-hundred gain an ability to induce temporary paralysis via direct eye to eye contact. Sunlight - Sunlight is a potent weapon against the bloodline. It takes a great deal of time to develop the tolerance needed to even spend a few hours in its light. Only the oldest, or those sired by the oldest, of the bloodline can walk into the sun without fear of death. Lack of Reflection - Like the Obsidian’s bloodline the Grimmfeldt bloodline lack a reflection. They cannot be caught on film, or reflected by any surface. Indeed, eyes are the only ocular device capable of seeing a vampire of their bloodline. Taboo of Property - Members of the Grimmfeldt bloodline cannot enter another person's dwelling without the express permission of the owner of that dwelling. Additionally they cannot take something that belongs to another person without that person's permission. Taboo of Crossing - Those of the Grimmfeldt bloodline cannot cross a large body of water unless it is within their coffin. Coffins of the Bloodline are made from a special tree deep within the Meliae which has tasted of their blood. The wood from the tree must be harvest three days after it has tasted the individuals blood. Taboo of Faith - The Grimmfeldt cannot walk on to holy ground without their powers being bound considerably. Additionally holy relics will glow and even melt in the presence. Finally, if asked by a man or woman of the cloth if they are a vampire they cannot lie to them. Magical Talent/Consumption - While not a natural ability per say almost every member of the Grimmfeldt bloodline is inherently gifted with some form of arcane magic (more details bellow). What IS natural, however, is their ability to temporarily substitute feeding on blood by consuming mana not their own. The effects of doing so will stave off their hunger for only the next twelve hours making it a temporary fix at best. The Celestial Host - Lucius and his bloodline draw their power not from blood nor shadows but the celestial bodies in space itself. The sun, moon, stars, and planets give this bloodline access to potent magic which permeates their body with age. Additionally they receive a blessing from their celestial host which grants them an immunity to their type of magic. Complex magics, however, tend to grant only simple resistances to the magic concepts which make them up. Some primary examples of a celestial host and its blessings granted to a Grimmfeldt vampire are;
