Would that not be 'whom'? I can't remember the rules on who/whom, so I'm asking a question, rather than saying it should be 'whom'.
For future reference, it would be whom. ("Who" is used only for the subject of the verb, not the object.)

Also, isn't it 'an historic', rather than 'a historic'?
How so? 'Historic' doesn't begin with a vowel, spelling-wise or pronunciation-wise.

When combined with "a/an", the h is supposed to be silent. That's coming from Latin, where h doesn't count as a consonant.

But the "H" isn't silent without an accent, therefore making the usage of "an" quite awkward against an "H". The usage of "an" before "H" is as outdated as silent "H"s.

Where can I find an 'otel?
Where can I find a hotel?

I'm certain the latter sounds much more intelligent and formal than " 'otel ".

Nai = grammar Nazi, so I'd trust her on this :P

One problem could be delegates like Aegara voting against right at the start - liberation resolutions generally get a large majority, but a large 'against' vote at the beginning could cause problems.

Also, with the useless "Liberate The Jedi Council" resolution beforehand, people might get a bit cynical about liberation resolutions.

Hm. Interesting point about the accent; I was just thinking about it in terms of historical linguistics. I think it's actually the other way around - when the h-syllable is accented, we usually use "a" and never "an":

A history of grammar rather than An history
A heavy book rather than An heavy

Granted, I usually say "a hotel" rather than "an 'otel", but there's something funny about the word "hotel" anyway (it's all French and stuff)... and words like "hierarchical" or "haphazard" are too rare to sound good either way. But I'd lean towards "an homogenous" and "an hysterical" for unaccented h's. The more I think about it, the more I can't be sure of what I'd do without thinking about it, though. :P

Good point. I know a couple of other delegates are considering changing the way they conduct regional WA votes in order to be able to vote early as well - maybe something to think about.
