Fair enough.

Though I'd be interested in a GA In-Character proposal, we've been liberated from the GA, so we as might as well make are selves useful to the GA world and commend/condemn those important to the In-Character world. What did you have in mind? Commend Neville? Commend Kenny? (we'd have to get Todd to write it :D) Condemn ..urg. I don't know.
If I ever did do that I'd probably stick to commending nations rather than commending specific RP characters. How many people outside of GA regulars would know who Neville, Sammy Faisano or Sir Cyril Gordon Muffplaster Radionov Casaba O'Mahoney Askalan DeDerrier von Holsterman Wyznyjytski Ungern-Sturmberg Banerjee Svenssen M'Beki Vicenzo MacLehose-Strangways-Jones III were?

Um.. I don't know if I know the last one. :D

What did you have in mind for nations? Successful authors, or those terrible at compliance?

Old Man Eloquence brought up a good point in the officialsphere™ , this resolution shouldn't have tried to hide the fact that Todd was an experienced, and well accomplished raider. It should have praised his accomplishments in raiding as well, and not just recognized (or whatever) them briefly.

We need to remember this fallacy in future proposals to come, I'm sorry Topi that I didn't catch that earlier.

I'm going to call this dilemma the "Selective Todd Syndrome" :D
Well it mentioned a bit more beforehand, but I asked for it to be removed - my main motivation being that I don't think region griefing is commendable, but also I think its pretty fair to say that this would have been far more controversial, and therefore harder to pass, if his invasions (and griefings) of regions like the SFBA were mentioned. Todd had a leading role in the Feudal Japan invasion, and seeing as the Security Council has spent a fair bit of time helping that region recover from that, I don't imagine that people would be too willing to commend him for that invasion.

I will concede, however, that more could've been made of his raiding accomplishments. However, thats something which really would've been easier for one of the non-defenders to pick up on.

I should probably be honored that you knew who Sammy Faisano is; he rarely appears outside the Strangers' Bar anymore.

A condemnation (or even a commendation) based upon WA non-compliance would be especially interesting to see.

NSwiki. Praise NSwiki.

Is there anyone notably flouting above compliance laws?

Glen-Rhodes is flouting "Access to Science in Schools", I believe. "Condemn Glen-Rhodes", I'm just imagining the forum discussion on that one, right now.

And, are the points quoted in his "NS [résumé]" not reasons for commendation?

If not, what are?.. "ADMITTING that the WA really does want to control every nation" and "INSISTING that the WA really does know best"?
You mean that even a "joke proposal" like Condemn gatesville or Commend Anti-World Assembly holds more value than the one we're debating right now? I could hardly agree more. All this thing does is list a player's various activities in NS; it doesn't even pretend to address the morality (or lack thereof) behind any of his actions (particularly the raiding for which he is also apparently being commended), let alone why any of them qualify as "outstanding contributions." We're basically commending someone for longevity and sustained activity, something that equally applies to hundreds of other players within the NS-verse. Should we start working on commendations for all of them as well?

Todd has done a lot of stuff in NS; that's indisputable. Yet had this resolution included the slightest hint of commentary as to why all this stuff is so special, or included anything that might have sparked even menial interest from anyone besides Todd's most committed fanboys, it would have gone a long way toward improving its terribly dry, dishwater tone. Break the fourth wall in a most anticlimactic and underwhelming fashion, include a tedious laundry list of gameplay trivia of little importance to anyone besides an interested clique, make zero attempt to include or appeal to anyone outside the Feeder/GP-elite bubble -- we're basically commending Todd with one of his own resolutions. For this he ought be proud. He has had an impact on the game, at least on the SC proposal-writing part of it. The only question is whether this impact has been in any way beneficial or conducive to improving the quality of SC legislation.

I was particularly notorious for blurring the line between upholding the spirit versus the letter of the law. A satirically toned condemnation blasting my government and its infamous Creative Solutions Agency ("NSwiki, praise NSwiki" ;) ) for encouraging such wanton disregard for WA conventions would certainly give me a giggle. At the very least Ardchoille would be pleased. :P

Giggles are always good.

Actually the CSA just gave me a giggle, a condemnation it shall be.
