The sudden blinding light startled Kai and his eyes closed in an attempt to block it out. He didn’t hear anything but white noise, didn’t feel anything beyond a burst of heat and then nothing. Total silence. Kai opened his eyes and still saw only white. Without a second thought he wiggled his fingers and toes to try and gage if he’d somehow taken a head injury without his knowing it. All of his motor functions seem to be in working order. He could feel the rock under his boots shift. He could feel the press of stone against his one knee. He could suddenly feel a wind kick up and blow against his face. Only his vision seemed to be affected. Vaguely he was aware that the wind that bit at his face and caught in his hair was cold and nothing like the stale heat that he’d encountered inside the crumbling office building. Kai shifted his hand and let out a shaky sigh when he felt his trauma bag move under his weight. He just couldn’t seem to figure out what had happened to his vision. Kai blinked once, then twice and his reality shattered. The sky overhead was a slate grey and Kai swore he could see fire lick through it as he watched. The stone he knelt on was not the broken remains of a building ripped apart in an explosion but rather a slick filthy street. His fingers brushed across it and came away with a thin film of something slick and almost ashen. Lights flashed somewhere up ahead of him. And while Kai would have loved to sit there and contemplate what was going on with his head, his last clear memory was of people calling out for help. And that took precedence over everything else. He was on his feet and running in a matter of seconds. His boots thumped along the stone street as he swung his bag up and onto his shoulder. His long legs carried him across the distance in mere seconds and he rounded the corner only to come to a complete stop again. He had to be dreaming. The oldest hotel Kai had ever seen stood before him, lit at intervals by swirling military lights. A fence stood between him and the building beyond. And then it occurred to him. He was dreaming. He’d taken a blow to the head, probably a falling rock and now he was having some surreal dream about burning skies and old hotels. He’d been watching way to many movies recently. Man, he could only imagine the ribbing he’d get once he woke up. He had rushed in to the rescue only to need rescuing himself. Silently he sent up a prayer that the men he’d come with were working on getting those people out. He’d never forgive himself if they didn’t save one of them because they were busy with him. He stepped forward and… The screech of sirens jarred Kai out of his sleep. The same dream, over and over again. Without thinking Kai was up and stepping into his boots before throwing his jacket on and grabbing his bag. The alarms were known to malfunction from what he’d been told. But something in the back of Kai’s mind told him that this wasn’t one of those times. He took off out of his room at a run, taking the stairs in twos as he passed men and women on the way down. They were fighting. Why were they fighting? Kai took a moment to break two of them up and point them in opposite directions before continuing on. He needed to find Yuusuke. He was the only one in the building that he knew, not having been there long enough to meet anyone else yet. Kai was sure that he’d have the answers. Kai hit the ground floor just as the doors opened and Yuusuke stepped through, all but carrying another man that Kai had only seen in passing once in the three days he’d been in Mid Heaven. And the man didn’t look good at all. All of Kai’s training kicked into high gear as he rushed to a large table and shoved everything off of it. “Put him up here. Carefully or you may do more damage than good.” Kai helped grabbed the man’s feet and lay him out across the heavy wood. “What happened to him?” |

Yuu had no more stepped through the gate and he could feel blood run down his arm, and soaking his shirt. "Fuck..." he grunted to himself while readjusting his hold on the bleeding man. The entire area seemed brighter now without his sunglasses and for a moment, Yuu couldn't remember where he was. Then the sirens penetrated his mind and he was brought back to the situation at hand. He walked to the hotel door. If he ran, there was no doubt he would fall, there were shell holes all over the area, it was like a minefield of trip-worthy objects. This isn't to say that his pace wasn't quick and by no means was Yuusuke moseying. The smell of blood was overpowering with every gust of cold air that blew past him. If he hadn't been working with Hazuki for the past two years...he wouldn't be able to stand the stench. Blood was something he had become accustomed to...which was sad in it's own way. Standing at the door, he hoped someone would open it the instant he got there....but of course not...that would mean they were actually using the minds god gave them. What a silly thing to expect. Moving his arm slowly to get the handle, his rosary fell from his sleeve and Yuu realized he was silently mumbling a hymn. That hadn't happened since he died. With a push of the handle, the idiots inside got the hint and the doors flew open. No sooner had Yuusuke walked inside did someone come up to him. He said to put Hazuki on a table gently...and he found himself becoming protective. What did this fucker know?! Then he actually looked at the man. "Emt." He grunted, this guy had died a couple days ago...he was a medic. Yuu placed him down, much like one would put some precious but broken object down. He didn't hear Kai's question initially, he was too busy wonder why he had let the fight go on so long. The siren seemed to always bring him back to reality. "Wrath." Yuu scoffed before quickly looking to the men who were gawking at them. "What are you standing here for?!" He hissed. "Outside...help the others with the town...and someone turn of that god forsaken siren!" His orders were promptly obeyed and Yuu went back to looking at his unconscious leader. "You better me a medical gift from god." He sighed, his eyes still not leaving Hazuki |

Tetsu bit his lip and felt like an idiot. He was getting way too frazzled his mind had just been focused on helping Hazuki and now he had made himself look like a bigger idiot. He picked up his bag of weapons and headed down into the basement and putting them back. He went back to the armory and opened the doors up. Men kept flooding back to weapons and supplies. He sat there doing his job like everyone else wanted and that was how it was supposed to be. Just keep the ex-Sin addict doing his thing and he won't be a bother to anyone. |

There was no need to question the man’s orders. No need to ask anything more. The name Wrath made no real sense to him at all, but then, nothing really did these days. Kai was still trying desperately to make everything in his life fall back into the order it had once been in. Somewhere in his mind he still thought he was dreaming. A rather twisted, disgusting mockery of a dream, but a dream none the less. But even in his subconscious mind Kai couldn’t walk away from those that needed him. And the man currently lying on that old wooden table certainly counted as one in need. Already blood was trickling down the man’s chin and neck to pool on the table before. Kai could hear the wet sounds that each labored breath caused. He’d taken blows to the ribs for sure and possibly punctured a lung. His chest was trying to collapse in on itself. Kai had gloves on and was yanking a syringe out of his bag without another thought. He stripped the plastic off the thing before slipping that large needle between two of the man’s ribs about three inches beneath his armpit. Slowly Kai pulled that plunger back and watched as fluid filled it. The moment he heard the man’s breathing even out slightly he smiled. No punctured lung, just fluid in the pleural cavity. It was nowhere near a pleasant experience, but a much easier and safer fix. With some of the fluid out of his chest cavity and the pressure depleted considerably Kai went to work on the rest of his injuries. He used a tube and a vent bag as makeshift suction to clear the blood out of the man’s throat. And then cut off more of the man’s clothing to take a look at the bruising that ran the length of the man’s body. Kai simply couldn’t imagine one person doing so much damage. Kai quickly shifted and ran his fingers slowly over each rib, only finding two that were actually broken. The rest were probably laced with fractures. But there was no way for him to tell. Kai reached into his bag and pulled out a small silver flip knife. Usually used for bandages and the like, Kai flipped it open and placed the edge to the skin just above the first rib. He made a small incision and placed the knife aside. Sliding his fingers in, he carefully set the rib then taped the wound closed. He did the same for the other break. He then set teeth back into their sockets in the man’s mouth. He checked to make sure that the jaw wasn’t broken. He clicked on a small flashlight and checked the man’s pupil response time and liked what he saw. Other then the obvious bruising inductive to trauma he seemed to be stable enough now. Kai didn’t want to risk moving him just yet so he instead grabbed a chest belt out and used it to temporarily secure the injured ribs before looking at the man standing across from him. “I’ll need blankets a small pillow and belts. I want to leave him here until his breathing evens out some more. No sense in causing more injury moving him. I’ll make him comfortable and strap him down so he can’t roll and fall off. He should be just fine.” |

Yuusuke stared at Hazuki most of the time. Everything that looked painful, Yuu had something of a sympathy pain, he always had this problem. He watched Kai like a hawk and the syringe made him uneasy, sin was administered through a needle. Kai being an undercover for the sins crossed his mind momentarily and inwardly he began to freak. His blood boiled and he was ready to lash out and throw the man across the room. But Hazuki was bleeding badly, and Kai was the only one around who even had any training in this sort of thing. Besides, the syringe had nothing in it, until it was stuck in Hazuki's chest, then a nasty fluid filled the tube. He'd feel nauseous if he wasn't to busy being worried. He'd never been this worried about someone else. It was fucking weird. Yuu ultimately felt the smile was uncalled for. Sure Hazuki was breathing, but he was still bleeding like mad and Kai's job was far from done. Yuu continued to watch, waiting for any mistake he saw, which was hard because he was continuously being distracted by Hazuki's blood. There was so much...how was he still alive?! Well, he wasn't really alive...was he? Hearing all the bones crack as Kai moved along, Yuu actually began to calm down. Cracking bones were good...that meant that they were definitely broken and now Kai was fixing them...right? Yuu didn't respond to Kai's needs with any words, he just turned and walked away to look for what was needed. No words were exchanged between him or any of the men who were still sitting around. When he finally found everything that he needed, he glanced at the men in the room and they immediately jumped to their feet. They knew what they were supposed to be doing and also knew that once Yuu was out of this funk, he would lash at them with a vengeance. Placing the blankets and belts next to Hazuki Yuu glanced up at Kai and sighed "There." He face was blank and he refused to actually look the medic in the eye. He needed new sunglasses.... "Anything else?" |

Kai didn’t speak as he took the blankets and things from Yuusuke. He fixed a belt to each of the four table legs and used those to hold Hazuki in place. He tied a belt to each calf and each bicep, making sure that they weren’t tight enough to stop or slow circulation but still snug enough to hold. Then he slid the pillow below the man’s head and started covering the man up in the blankets. Biggest issue that Kai could see would be the blood loss dropping his body’s temperature too far. So he made sure that both legs and arms were carefully wrapped and tucked in close to his core. Without any unforeseen issues arising he would be fine in a few days. The ribs would take at least a few of months to heal, but the fact that a couple broken ribs was really the worst of the damage was a blessings as far as he could tell. Kai looked up finally as he pulled his gloves off. He wasn’t sure why his mind had come up with this archaic world to place him in, but there was really nothing he could do about it at the moment. With a small smile he figured he might as well play along. “Are there more injured?” His voice was soft and calm. Blood and trauma had a way of making Kai focus more than anything else ever had. “If there are I can set up a temporary triage here. I’ll need beds or blankets for those that can’t get up and move readily. Some hot water to clean wounds and some cool water to drink would be useful as well. And if you have anyone that has any basic first aid training that can help I’d appreciate the help.” He turned his eyes to the man on the table. Kai silently hoped this man would be the most horrible case he saw this evening. But he could swear that he’d heard gunshots somewhere nearby and he could almost guess that the worst was yet to come through the doors. “Do you need me to help collect supplies? If you do, I’d like someone to stay here with him. If his breathing becomes labored again I’ll need to relieve the pressure on his lungs.” He’d be happy to help, but he wasn’t entirely comfortable with leaving his first patient alone. With no machines to monitor him Kai wouldn’t know if something went downhill until it was too late. |

Yuu watched the medic tie and found it a bit unnecessary. Hazuki wasn't an idiot, he knew he was hurt, so why the fuck would he move. Kai was probably just trying to help, but Yuu was slowly replacing his concern for the leader's well being with general annoyance, it's how he coped with things. Then he smiled. Was that really appropriate. "Are more injured...what the fuck do you think?" He hissed, finally breaking his stoic silence with senseless anger. "Wrath was here, everyone went ape shit." he mumbled before walking away He glanced at those men who were still around. They immediately began to collect what the medic wanted as well as anyone injured. Yuu in the meantime made his way upstairs. he could distinctly remembered someone saying something about a man in a closet who was hurt. He got to the 10th floor and could hear shuffling. There was a man indeed locked in a closet and Yuu had to break the door in order to get him out. The man was bleeding rather badly. Yuu could only roll his eyes "First war resembles a beautiful woman...later its more like a repulsive old whore eh?" He muttered, the man only nodded, knowing what was implied by the statement. Grunting, Yuu helped the man to his feet, and began to lead him slowly down stairs. By the time he'd reached the lobby of the decrepit hotel, there were a few people who were bleeding around and Yuu simply sighed with disappointment. This many of their men couldn't control themselves around a sin? It was pathetic. |
