How to Ride a Horse

When riding the horse, the horse is the one who moves and the rider stays stationary on their back. In all sense of it, the horse is in control of everything from turning to moving forward technically. However, people who ride are required to roleplay while doing so; the rider tugs on the reins and says "whoa" for example and hopefully the horse will listen, but sometimes a horse can be stubborn!

General Instructions & Rules of Riding:

  • First, get a horse and tack them (have the equine player turn into a lapine to switch to "Tack" mode.) The stable provides professionally trained (roleplayers) for any person needing a horse and do not have one boarded at the ranch.

  • The rider must go to the tack room and walk against the hanging bridles and lead ropes; a set of spurrs will drop where they stand. Pick them up, take them to the horse; drop the spurrs and have the horse pick them up. Riding does not work unless the horse player is holding the spurrs. Only riders can enter the tack room however, so the rider must get them for the horse.

  • You must be outside for riding to work or inside the indoor arena. Mounting up in the barn will result in a warning.

  • Outside, the horse should face southwest and the rider should be next to the horse on the NE side. At this time, the rider must sit.

  • To move forward, the rider should roleplay and communicate to the horse which way they should go.

  • YOU MUST TURN USING DELETE AND INSERT ONLY.
Failure to turn using delete and insert on the keyboard will result in the rider falling off and complicating the riding dragonspeak; to fix a player falling off, the horse player should drop the spurrs and allow the rider to move into an appropriate spot and sit, then the horse can pick the spurrs up again.

  • Avoid walls (the rider can be thrown behind the wall and become stuck) and entering buildings. Entering a building will move the horse inside, but not the rider. A rider should dismount (horse drops spurrs), the rider picks up the spurrs and leads the horse inside. You cannot remount a horse inside the barn. The only indoor place one may ride a horse is the indoor arena.

Instructions will be added on to again shortly.
