I'm trying to find a good Game Boy/GBA Emulator. I've been using VisualBoyAdvance and I'm finding it a major pain in the ass to use, mainly because it keeps lagging and chopping up gameplay for me, making things rather annoying. I'm not asking where I can find them, I'll gladly search for them myself. I'm just wondering which is the best out there and what you guys use when you emulate Game Boy roms.

Yes, VisualBoyAdvance is the best emulator to use for Gameboy games, as well as Gameboy Colour and Gameboy Advance ones. |

Weird. Even my second PC runs it perfectly WITH graphical filters... did you get the latest build? |

I personally use VisualBoyAdvance-M for 99% of GB/GBC/GBA games, but that's just me. |

Maybe it's your PC that's causing all the problems? Because I use VBA and even though my processor (Intel Core 2 Duo E4300) is slow, my computer's not experiencing slowdown or things like that during use of VBA (even if it forces my computer to switch to Windows 7 Basic's scheme until I close the program). |

Yeah, for some reason the sound gets fucked up and choppy every so often whenever I use VBA. The video works just fine, though. VBA-M, huh? I'll give it a shot. Edited by SkieTheKitsune, 15 Oct 2009, 02:53 AM.

I know that most versions of VBA seem to hate the throttle. First, go to Options -> Frame Skip -> Throttle and make sure "No throttle" is checked. That might help some. One way to speed up VBA is to go to Options -> Priority -> Above Normal (or even Highest if Above Normal is not fast enough... though my computer is kinda slow and Above Normal is fine for mine). |

E4300 is NOT that slow (only compared to today's stuff). I have the same. Edit: I can throttle with no problems... D: Edited by SpaceNinja, 15 Oct 2009, 07:06 AM.

I fixed the priority. I turned it to Highest, and that stopped the problem. Sometimes the sound gets screwed up after I use frameskip, but other than that my problem is fixed.
