Developers: id Software Publishers: Activision Platforms: PC and Xbox Released: 13th August 2004 (PC), April 8th 2005 (Xbox) Story: You play as a nameless UAC Marine who is on a transfer to Mars. Your first mission is to find a missing scientist. Soon when the Marine meets him all hell breaks loose. Quite literally. Soon monsters appear everywhere. Zombies taking over the bodies of the workers and soldiers and other scary stuff. It's quite a nice story in my opinion and it adds to the tension of the game Gameplay: The game is described as a reinvention to the Doom franchise and it shows that a bit. The game's controls are very responsive and great. There are lots of cool weapons that make a return and sure to please Doom fans. There are weapons like the Shotgun (Just a standard one not a double-Barreled one like in Doom 2 and Resurrection of Evil), a Chaingun, Chainsaw, Plasma gun and of course the fan favorite, BFG 9000, and more. There are various different enemies to kill like Zombies, Imps, Cacodemons, Hell Knights, etc. Plus there are online multiplayer fights so you can battle it out with others. And even though the game is 5 years old and there have been many popular shooters since Doom 3 like Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3, there are still some Doom 3 players. The game is very scary as well which is great. There are also moments in which you have to make a choice however they don't affect the game at all. Overall the gameplay is fun and exciting Graphics: The graphics are fantastic. The environments are good-looking. The cut scenes are well made. Although I'm not a fan of some of the new designs for some of the enemies like the Cacodemons don't look as good how they looked in the 2 previous Doom games in my opinion but enemies like the Imps and Hell Knights look impressive to me and better than their original looks. Besides that some of the character models look nice. Sound: The music is awesome. Especially the main theme of the game which I can't stop listening to. Yeah it's that good. The voice acting is pretty cool with a good script to go with it. The sound effects are pretty cool and the monsters roars are pretty well done. Overall Doom 3 is a good game to listen to Overall: This game is a really awesome one. Plus the game will scare you at times. With great online play that is as fun as it is in single player this game is a must play for any FPS or horror fan. + Great Controls + Brilliant Presentation + Great Scares - The 2nd half is a bit too easy - Online sometimes lags Overall Score: 8.9 Edited by DoomedQuake, 26 Sep 2009, 10:39 PM.

Excellent review. Too bad I'm not courageous enough to play the game, though, because it would just scare me. |
