What is the hardest 8-bit game you played?

I can get to 8-1, but with lotsa game overs (at least 10-15), because it has infinite continues (Infinite continues FTW!). And, of course, Battletoads. Stage 3 is one of the hardest of this game, along with the Snake Pit, the second-to-last level and the last one. The funny aspect of this game is the pause beat.
