As poker players, women are outnumbered by men..... And as old as time could tell, women have always fallen prey into stereotypes and typecast shadows of misconception. They are cast in a shell, where they're perceived to be weak, emotional, and just as soft as their feminine instincts could be. Although physical strength is not one of their best attributes, little do people realize that they are actually smarter and a lot stronger than they seem. Here are a couple things to remember: 1 Check your ego at the door. Ego and poker do not go well together. You will rush situations if you think you are better than someone else. Start with the belief that everyone is a great poker player. 2 Re-evaluate players throughout the game. All poker players are not really great, however if you re-evaluate as you go, your strategy will be better. 3 Take more risk. Women are not only outnumbered by men on the poker scene, they are more frugal than men. This is not a call to be stupid, just a warning not to be risk adverse. 4 Hold your own. Don't be afraid to play with men. Men usually underestimate women, not giving us the respect we deserve. They think they can bet you out of the pot and usually end up making bad decisions. This happens more with younger men than older ones. Women can usually beat an aggressive man. 5 Remember not to try to change the mind of the fellow players. If someone thinks they can run all over you, it is more profitable for you. They just gave up their strategy. 6 Understand that it is easier to beat men than women. Women do not gamble as much money and it is very hard to use your "woman tactics" against other women. 7 Avoid getting emotional. This is called "the tilt factor." Due to distraction of some sort, you play a hand you normally would not play as you did. Great poker players never "tilt." Good luck! Gluck Ladies!!! :hearts: Take cares, Dizzie |
