Well i went fishing using a waggler for the first time in maybe 12 years on Friday. It took me 2 hours to hit a bite but after that i was away, lost count of the fish i caught but there was a nice selection of course fish. Went out yesterday and bought a Middy X-Flex 4G 390 Waggler Rod 13ft, its a beefy beast taking main lines up to 8lb but for places like Hayfields it is probably the perfect rod. Oddly in all the photos on the net it is blue but it isnt that colour in real life it is much more subtle. |

Well i went to Hayfields yesterday and the first fish i hit on my new waggler rod was a 12lb common LOL I was using 6lb main line and a 4lb hooklength to a size 12 barbless hook and a single grain of corn, long gone are the days of 1.7lb hooklengths with a size 20 on it. The new Middy rod was a delight to use, using "thick" 6lb line with a 4BB waggler i wasn't expecting much casting wise but i was wrong, it launched it out arrow straight and a fair distance. When i hooked the carp i wouldnt have wanted to rush it as the rod was bent double but it handled it with aplomb. What surprised me more was when i hooked a 4oz roach the rod wasn't like a poker, it was just like using any other waggler rod i have used and i would happily go down to a 2lb hooklength on it in the cooler months, im sure given mono development i can now get 2lb line thinner than the 1.7lb Bayer Perlon i used to love so much. In the end i had a cracking day, i went though a full kilo of corn fishing the well tried and tested little and often feeding routine and i ended up with probably 70 or 80lb. I had 7 carp to 12lb and a shed load of Roach, Skimmers with the odd Tench and Crucian chucked in as well. |

Sounds great! Rods have come on in the last few years. Carp rods have improved and the same with float rods and feeder rods. Sounds like a great days fishing. |

OMG ! A maggot drowners dream! Seriously... I would love to get out and do a bit of float fishing. Looking back some of my best fishing memories are float fishing times. |

My old badger chair, despite still being in good condition is a nightmare to adjust the legs, it is them silver buttons you push in and the leg adjusts in 1inch bits, saw that in my local tackle shop (99 quid) and went back for it the next day after consulting with the missus. My mate did a rough calculation and in 144 hours carp fishing we (well i) caught 60lb of carp, in 60 hours waggler fishing we have caught 500lb of carp LOL |

Yeah... Its what you get out of it too. Fishing like that is really satisfying. I find hardcore carping can be really frustrating most of the time. It just requires so much effort and can be a right headache. |

used the chair and it was great, i needed a few minutes to adjust everything to my needs but then it was fine, the arms could have done to be slightly longer though cos even with my tiny shimano reel i was still hitting the char when striking |
