Hi Trev :) Yes, I'm still around - just been very busy. Astronomising as you call it mostly - really been bitten by the bug :D Must take myself under control :) Yes, still using Linux and Mac but for processing astro images I bought a second hand desktop with Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and it had 500MB HD to which I've added another, giving 1TB. It came with Win 7 Pro 64 bit which I actually quite like, believe it or not. I still use Firefox and Thunderbird rather than the MS offerings though.

I'll post more about what I've been doing later - off to put the kettle on :D

Yes, it's the Veil Nebula in the constellation of Cygnus and almost overhead around midnight currently from here. It's one of the best images I've got so far and I admit to being pretty pleased with it :) This was captured on 22nd June with this equipment/details :-

* Telescope - SW Evostar 80 ED DS Pro with SW 0.85 focal reducer / field flattener
* Guiding - ST 80 + QHY5 and PHD
* Camera - Canon EOS 1100D DSLR with full spectrum mod and cooling (EXIF T of -15C)
* Filter - Astronomik CLS-CCD clip-in
* Lights - 19 of 240s plus 22 of 120s at ISO 1600 - 32 stacked in DeepSkyStacker
* Darks - 35 of 240s at ISO1600
* Flats - 43
* Post processing in PhotoShop, scaled and converted to PNG for publishing on the net.

I'll post more details of my equipment etc. in the appropriate forum later. The camera is a modified (by me) Canon DSLR specially for astrophotography. The filter used cuts light pollution. Lights are the normal exposures, Darks are the same exposures with the scope capped to measure noise, Flats are calibration frames captured with a white T shirt stretched over the scope front to provide a flat diffused image. The latter are used to allow for variations in the light across the frame due to vignetting etc.

The astrophography front has been pretty dead lately due to clouds and rain at night. I might have a couple of things I can post - I'll check.
