The recent heat wave has seen my bees out busy bringing in willow pollen. Its great to spend some time up there with them. Watching them work and listening to their humming. I lost a colony over winter, so there`s just the one active hive now. Hope to get a couple more hives colonised this year. |

I was thinking about them just the other day, it's been so warm I wondered if they would be active Shame about the lost colony though.

Yes. The lost colony was my fault. It would still be going if I`d fed more over winter.

Yes it was a hard lesson. I spent a long time cleaning that hive out. Most of the dead bees were stuck head first into cells, obviously trying to get at any remnants of honey. It was horrible. I know they`re only insects, and they wouldn`t have had a chance on their own, but....knowing I could have prevented it, I still feel bad about it. |

I can understand how you feel Trev But you're better prepared now to help future colonies & that's all good.

Yes. I`m more determined now to become a better beekeeper, and I want to try to build this apiary up to 3 or 4 colonies. |
