It's here! Started soon after 3pm. We might have to rename this area as The Whitedown Hills :lol

We had a heavy fall this morning which mostly cleared up as the day went on. Surprisingly just a few miles away they had very little snow.

-3C here with just about half an inch of snow. I don't think the snow is any problem but ice.

We saw a glimpse of the sun a little while back but I don't think it was more than a minute! Now the sky is thick with it - a dark grey and it's snowing lightly. We have 2" outside the front and rather more out the back where it's drifted a bit

There's "great fun" outside the gates here. The bus which goes from Sidmouth via Honiton and here to Taunton is stuck in the road and ditch half way across our gateway. Apparently it got just round the bend and onto the steeper bit above here and then slid back down the hill. It was straddling our gateway on the other side of the road when we first saw it. Then they tried to move it :omg: It went a few feet up the hill then slid across into our entrance. Fortunately our gates are a few feet in from the road side so the bus hasn't touched them (yet).

Later :-
Now have a couple of vans outside with flashing orange lights and what looks like a breakdown lorry with flashing lights.

Later still:-
They've moved the bus now and the other vehicles have gone.

We couldn't see anyone on the bus when it was outside our gate.

Still 2-3" of snow lying about. -8.2C and thick fog this morning. Calm. But there's signs of the sun breaking through.

Not quite so cold here overnight. Just below -2C and now it's -1C. Calm with occasional light air and overcast but showing signs of brightening up. I've just been out and cleared about a foot of snow and ice from the path to the goat shed and covered it with ash from the fire so Tim could get up into the sheds. No sign of anything shifting yet - it barely got above zero yesterday. Our neighbour is currently trying to defrost our water supply! Been melting snow for water - no shortage of that!!!

A bank of mist/fog has come in now and blocked out the sun And the temperature is plummeting. It got up to 1C earlier but now down to nearly -3C. Over 3 degrees C drop in an hour! Freezing fog tonight - lovely!!!!!

-1.5 here and rising but doubt it'll get up to zero! Fantastic icicles as roof snow gradually melts and flows over the ice in the gutters. We have some over 2 feet long! Light northerly breeze.

Getting rather fed up with it now but our neighbours have been very good and we are well stocked up with food and fuel. Only external service we really rely on is electricity (though we do have a small generator which probably could be connected to the central heating pump).

The gritter has just driven past on our little road. First time I have seen one on here in sixty odd years. We are just a loop off the main road only servicing eight houses

Still here on the ground - some gone from roofs. Yet another hard frost this morning with a slight hoar frost too. Sunny and gradually rising temperature - now up to -1C after a -6C min overnight. Calm or variable light air - anemometer occasionally stirring.

Not gone yet! Thaw still continuing - slowly. The temperature is gradually rising and now about 4C. It's been steadily rising all night. SSW moderate breeze - Force 4, making it feel much colder - the apparent temperature being around -1 or -2C. "It goes straight through you"!
