If you work for the NHS or you know someone that works for the NHS you can get Office 2007 Enterprise for £8.95 http://www.microsoft.com/uk/nhs/pages/nhs_licensing_home_user_programme.aspx?xid=nhsd_191109

I do. (the mrs is a midwife)...but I`m sticking with O.O. as well :)

TBF Thats a big reduction. I think its extortionate what MS charge for it normally.

Most of Microsoft's products are an extortionate price IMO! :( Thank goodness for Free Open Source Software :) :)

We are talking 9 quid for the industry standard Office package. It is the price of 18 cans of decent beans (or about 97 cans if you have them rancid cheapo bullets from Aldi)

Having used OO since it started and branched off from Star Office all i can say is it is blood fabulous if everyone uses it, they dont, ill stick MS Office, i need to pass documents around and it be displayed how i wrote it tar very much.

XP cost me £57 in Oct 2001 i have had 8 years support and this will continue until 2014.

Office 2007 Ultimate cost me £39.95, this licence was for 3 computers and support is continuing.

Office 2007 Enterprise for a 4th PC cost me £8.95, er nuff said i think on that one.

Windows 7 Home Premium cost me £39.95 and i expect it to be supported for the next 10 years.

Epression Studio 3 was free thanks to Dreamspark (as is everything from Dreamspark)

Also Windows 7 Professional is available to me at £30 should i wish to buy it.

I wouldn't consider any of those extortionate, certainly they were all cheaper than a night out. If you was a noob and walked in to PC world and paid full price then more fool is you really :D You just need to know where to look.

If MS Office was free I would still use OO. :rofl

For me its not just about the money (even if you can hunt down special deals etc and get it cheaper than Microsofts` "normal" asking price).
I would rather not use a Microsoft product................ I`m against em :devil :rofl

One great thing about OO is it will read and write in MS Office formats so no problem with working with people who use Office. I get my monthly W.I. report in MS .doc format and happily read it with OO.

As I said - OO reads and writes in MS Office formats if you want, so NO COMPATIBILITY PROBLEMS!! :) :) You can pass documents around quite happily. :)

Fair enough have it your way mate, i obviously don't know anything.

I think i will be avoiding the computer portion from now on though, it seems a Linux and open source only zone with anything Microsoft jumped on and dismissed with rapid speed.

Don't be like that John :) No offence meant. It was just that you seemed to imply that though OO was great you couldn't interact with other people when using it.

And I'm sure there are other members interested in Windows even if Trev and I aren't so much :)

Peace :) :)

Hey come on!
We welcome all OS users in here.....even Mac users....as well as those poor souls assimilated by the borg (MS). :)

I also want to add that some of my best friends happen to be Windows users.
