EPG arrived this morning, it is great, a bit sluggish but much better than the old one.

I like that you get a little picture-in-picture when you`re viewing the guide.

Sky fella just rang to confirm for tomorrow. I wonder if we`ll actually get installed this time?

Sky is in. Amstrad box. Waiting for it to update to the new EPG and for the Anytime channel to fill up. I guess that may take a day or so.
So far so good. The HD channels look good, but its the PLus that I am most happy about. No more go compare or cash for gold.....Oh the relief.

Nice one, i have Anytime turned off, its just a waste of leccy for us as it normally contains sport and films that they want us to pay for so it seems pointless having the box spinning the HDD up to keep recording stuff.

New EPG is really good, it is quite a bit laggy next to the old one and it is a little more confusing to navigate but once you get used to it it all makes sense. I have turned the mini TV off though, you can still hear what you was watching and the EPG shows 11 channels rather than just 6. I also like it that HD programming is shown in orange rather than white and series stack is a wonderful idea, no pages and pages of the same show to trawl though :D

As for +, i dont really watch live TV anymore, i just series link stuff that interests me and go watch that once its on the HDD.

Got the Amstrad box and new EPG and I like it. :) Does seem a little slower than the old one but the newer features make up for this.

And hi guys. :)

Hi Parva :wave
Nice to see you here.

Still no EPG upgrade....No way to force it - so it comes when it comes :shrug

while ever there are revisions of the box on the old EPG forcing the recovery software will only ever give you the old EPG, if you had a Thomson, Pace or Samsung forcing it would give you the new EPG but you would have it already so there wouldnt be any point LOL

The gauling thing from Trevs point of view is the software is already on the box, it is just sat there waiting for Sky to activate it LOL

I also like it that the EPG is now cached for 7 days, no more searching for listings :)

I am guessing your box is a 0006 revision Trev as they seem to be the newest of the old style box and they have not been done yet.

Yes mate its an 006.....BTW I was reading on a forum that if you change the output setting to automatic you get a better SD picture on the Amstrad :shrug

Mine is at 1080i but i have a plasma which are better with SD anyway (they tend to mask the blocks you get with low bitrates and massivly upscaled streams) so i wouldnt know mate but even if you set the box to auto so it displays SD at 576i your telly will upscale it anyway. Everyone has there own ideas on what works best but at the end of the day you are never going to get something designed to fit only 288 lines (interlaced to make 576 lines) looking great on a telly with a native resolution of 1080 lines.

1080p LCD here and have to say I'm well impressed with the HD offerings (thought best you can get from Sky is 1080i).

And hello guys, good to see many of the old faces. :)

Oh and new EPG, it's errrm, ok. Undetermined as to whether I prefer it yet, definitely much slower response.

Even the 1080i you get isnt what you think, most of the transmissions are 1440x1080i rather than 1920x1080i

I think the new EPG is great if only for the way it highlights the HD programs in orange and the series stack which i love.

its not slow down its more lag, like when you go to your planner its not instant, there is about a second delay.

Ah yes. And the Anytime bit takes a while to load up as well.
Still an improvement on the old version though.
