I`d just ordered minutes before my last post Gina. Dunno when mine will come. I opted for Royal mail this time. Last time I ordered from SVP, the city link driver not only went to the wrong address, he left them outside someone else`s house. Luckily the people at that house know me and rang me up to tell me my stuff was at theirs. :shakehead

Never used a mini DVD before. How much data do they hold?

You've got me worried now, though I've been lucky so far and never had any trouble with carriers. Mind you, we live out in the sticks and our address consists of just house name and village. Our postcode covers about five houses. So wrong address delivery is rare. With the three items I didn't get the Royal Mail choice and the delivery will require a signature they say. I think it'll be OK :)

Mini DVDs hold 1.4GB of data. 30mins recording time at SP for video. They're handy really as they'll easily slip into a pocket. Mind you, I have no problem in getting standard 5" (12cm) ones in my handbag :lol

Verbatim discs arrived this morning. They have an inner diameter of 21mm so have adjusted Gimps print options. (There`s a 21.2mm option under CD Hub size (Custom)).

edit. I would knock the image quality up [not too much see below] in the print settings as well Gina.

I just put the dpi right up in Image Quality and then selected Best Print Quality and the result was a very high quality but very wet print :lol
Its going to take a few discs to get it right I think.

Yes, I rather thought it might take a fair amount of experimenting :lol

My discs should arrive tomorrow :) Glad you've got yours.

Yes, will do :) I expect I'll try that this evening. ATM I'm copying a series of TV progs from HD to DVD on my DVD recorder. Strangely, the first disc I tried showed a fault on playback :( I can't remember when I last had a failure! Anyway, I'm trying another DVD-R disc to see if I can get a good recording. If that fails I'll try a Tesco DVD-R :shrug It could be a recorder problem.

So I already have one disc that's b****red anyway. If I make a mess it doesn't matter one iota :lol

Well, I've designed an image for printing my first DVD in GIMP after much fiddling :lol

Then tried printing the DVD using the setup you suggested except I set it to Glossy Paper, Print Quality - Automatic and the sizes you suggested. Result :- Too faint, so needs more ink. Second, I'm not getting the small hub so I presume the script is wrong. Could you give me the full edited script please? :)

Anyway, I designed the layout around the bigger centre so the layout will do for this disc. However, the smaller centre would be much better and allow me to provide a much nicer layout.

So the ink setting needs to be somewhere between mine and yours. Mine is readable but the images are far too light and washed out.

I think if you are getting a full-face template when you are in gimp, the script is ok. I`ve attached my edited script to this post just in case it is the script though. (right click save link as)
It is more likely its the print options/settings stopping the full-face print.
Try it this way.
In Gimp Filters>Script fu>Misc>CD label...
The default should now give you a full-face template. Do your stuff to create your label. and (main menu) Script fu>Utils>CD Mask.
Then from the Gimp menu. File>Page Setup
Choose SPPX700W- from the drop down.
Select CD - Custom then Apply.
Then from Gimp menu File>Print to bring up Gimps print settings.
In the Advanced tab.(Printer feature common) CD Hub size select "Print to Hub" from drop down.
Under Printer Features Extra 1 mine is set to:
CD Size (Custom): 118.2mm
CD Hub Size (Custom): 21.5mm
CD Horizontal Fine Adjustment: 0.0mm
CD Vertical Fine Adjustment: 0.0mm

For the quality settings, I guess we are just going to have to experiment with the settings.
The next one I try will have:
Color Precision set to Best and Print Quality set to Photo.
In the Image Quality tab I`m going to try 1440 x 1440

We`ll just have to keep each other posted on the results till we get it right :)

Yes, agreed :) Thank you Trev :) :) I'll check the script. I think I did everything in the order you did but I'll check that too :)

Rather than checking for differences I renamed the current scm file to .scm.old and copied your latest into the folder. Tried creating a new CD label and still get the big centre :( Maybe gimp needs restarting - I'll try that next. Having finger trouble I think :lol Or brain :lol

:lol Yes. Restarting did the same thing, I guess.

That's that solved :) :) I'll do a new layout and test it on paper then try it on DVD with changed ink settings.
