I have the scanner working in XP Just needed the address setting up.Attached is a scan of the Epson test print page, reduced in pixel size in GIMP. Must say this printer/scanner is a delight to use Well let's say the Epson scan prog in Windows is nice and easy. Easier than my old stand-alone scanner Printer is a delight in both OSs Much faster and quieter than my old R245 ![]() Someone MUST have got the scanner working in Linux/Ubuntu surely! But I can live with using Windows - I'm not that averse to Windows. It's readily available to use. Just two presses on the CTRL key switches my view and control to the P4 running XP

Mmm?? Its different to mine. Is the make and model coming automatically from the ppd file? or did you manually choose the make and model from the list ? Mine says TX700W (same printer different identity) I don`t think I had the option PX700W. The other two buttons are test print (zigzag lines showing the state of the heads) and clean heads. |

Oh dear, I edited my above post while you were posting yours ![]() I think it got the name from the PPD file - it recognised the make and model and I didn't have the option of choosing from a list. Something seems different here from your setup. Talking of scanning, it may be easier to use a USB stick to take the scan file since you've got to be at the printer/scanner anyway rather than scan in XP and transfer via the LAN. Must try both methods when I get the printer in it's final location. |

You can scan using the machines buttons (without a pc) and like you say save it to a usb flash drive or you can I think scan-to-print while you are there as well ![]() Have a look in the make and model (change button) and see whats there. Maybe if you change the model there it will give more options. (clean heads etc) |

Yes, scan to print is called copy and was the first thing I tried. Great just like a photocopier - very easy. You can enlarge or reduce the image too but I haven't tried that yet. Much better to have a stand-alone copier rather than messing about with a computer. Though with the right drivers some scanners can automatically copy using a button on the scanner. (As long as scanner and printer are connected to computer and correctly set up).Head cleaning and suchlike can be done directly on the machine from the menu. The menu options seem well arranged and intuitive Decent size display as well.Must say, the more I use this printer combo the more I like it ![]() Thank you for recommending it

I am pleased with it too. Its about the only printer I could find that had built in wifi and could print to cd. You`ll be impressed with the cd print Gina. Very professional looking results. Plenty of profesional looking CD and DVD covers can be found on the web. i found some nice Ubuntu cd covers for the various releases. They look good. Google Images "Ubuntu cd covers" Cd covers.cc is a great cd/dvd cover resource: cdcovers.cc You can scan an original cd/dvd and copy to a blank cd as well. |

I think I might design my own for Karmic (9.10) for when it comes out. Taking bits from the published designs and adding a Koala pic. The Ubuntu labels on that site are a bit behind the times, version-wise. ie. there aren't any 9.04 that I could see. |

Yes I noticed that. Covers.cc is generally a good site for dvd and cd covers though. There are the official Ubuntu resources for dvd artwork etc: Ubuntu Official Artwork I think its better to edit and personalize your dvd`s as well |

It's here and literally took 10 seconds to fit Just unclip a panel on the back of the printer and insert the unit - it clicks into place. Removing is just as simple - a button at each end release clips and the unit can be removed and the cover put back. Simple.ss. Now to test it

Absolutely brilliant!! "It does exactly what it says on the tin" It sticks out at the back adding to the depth (front to back measurement) by just under 3" which is quite acceptable to me ![]() So now I not only have a cheap supply of ink but also use half the paper in some cases Though the paper saving is not the main benefit as copier paper is very cheap anyway. At times I want to print out notes or instructions to read when I can't use a computer and having double sided printing is helpful. Also, I have a spiral binding machine and can produce booklets.

Looks like a good bit of kit (although I don`t need double sided prints).

I'm very pleased with it When I wanted to print out a booklet I used to carefully work out how the page numbering went, print all the odd numbered pages, turn the stack over and carefully place it back the right way round in the printer and then print the even pages. I think that was it Much paper and ink was wasted until I got it right!
