I thought I`d just try one out tonight and finished up letting 3 off. All the local kids came running when they saw the first one go up and badgered me into letting another one go, and then another. I didn`t take much persuading. :lol

Brill. i`m going to have to order some more :rofl

Just a brief period of enjoyment then! :lol We used to make our own out of tissue paper, a couple of twigs and a bit of a candle. Children (of all ages) seem to just buy everything ready made these days, mostly. The "Blue Peter" movement isn't quite dead though :lol

The story of my life! :rofl

I guess most things theses days cost you more to make yourself than ready made. Look at computers. There was a time you could make massive savings building your own. Now you would have trouble trying to make the same spec machine than say a Dell or Acer for the same money.

The Glo Lanterns I bought work out at about £2 each.

That's not a bad price :) It would take a fair amount of time to make your own and then to enjoy it for a few seconds would seem... well, daft really :lol

I managed to make up my AMD 64X2 system at quite a low cost, taking advantage of sale prices and special offers. But mainly, I did it for the enjoyment of it and to get exactly what I wanted. Particularly choosing very low noise components. I already had an optical drive and one or two other bits. If I'd bought everything new it would have been around £300 or so. Of course, I didn't need to buy an OS or any other software, which saved quite a bit :)

When i bought my Athlon 64 x2 i took advantage of the death of Socket 939 which meant i got a motherboard and processor for 70 quid :D

You know we were talking about these Chinese lanterns being reported as UFOs? :lol Well, this very thing happened at the weekend around Paignton here in Devon.

The "perpetrator" was talking on Radio Devon this morning. It was a wedding reception and a number of lanterns were released into the skies above Torbay - with full permission from police and coastguards. Several people reported seeing UFOs over Torbay :rofl
