I'm with Rownaldo. thank god he plays for us. I just can't believe he's only 22. With Tevez being 23, Nani being 21, Rooney being 21 and Anderson being 19 I think things are looking really good.

And with being able to watch all games on the net I think this could be the best season ever.

I will get this out the way. I support Arsenal :P

And yes we have no homegrown which is a disappointment for me as we used to be good at it. But without starting a massive debate and flaming Man U don't have many home grown. Yes they have english players (brought from other clubs that 'grew' them), but every other team in the prem would have brought those players too if they had £30 mil to spend on a player like Rio (not worth it as Vidic is better IMO and was a no where even close)The only real home grown you have are Giggs and Scholes!! And they were from the days when Georgy Graham was in charge at arsenal :D You haven't found talent like that since then to bring through your youth, although arsenal haven't been buying english recently he has managed to find more unknown talent than fergie i am afraid to say, fergie tends to buy ready made or already established players with massive carrots which are too big for anyone to compete with, plus of course that Man U being the club with the best modern history in football and a massive club as pulling power too.

There is no question in my mind that Ronaldo is the greatest player on the planet at the moment, and i am so glad he has dropped the diving and play acting which IMO has made him just that...the greatest.

As a Man Utd fan a quite agree with figsey. We do buy the best young talent around but we try and buy English players. At the end of the day we are in England and it is the best stage to showcase your talent to the world.

The one thing I do have to say regarding English youth players is that they are just not hungry enough. Wenger is a master at bringing young players through but even he struggles with the like of Walcott. Joe Cole, Jermaine Jenas are classic cases of players not making the most of their talent. Joe Cole should be one of the best in the world but although he's a good premiership player he's not Ronaldo/Ronaldhino class.

The poor African/French players have the desire which is something I think English players are severly lacking.

Exactly Robbo. Wenger said not to long ago (when everyone was slating us) that he tried the english youth system approach with very little success, he paid over the odds for pennant who in my eyes had great potential and David Bentely and both are still good players but they could have been so much more if the effort had been there, the english youth seem to want to have it on a plate for them and not really try!
He brought a quite a few in and they just didn't hit the grade, the young players we have brought through are foriegn but they have the hunger, and first priority isn't booze, fast cars, and the latest pop chart girl on there arm. We have never been able to buy the already discovered young british talent.

Yes there are a lot of foriegn players in the prem league, but don't forget that before they were here it wasn't the best league in the world and we can't have the best of both worlds.

Again I completely agree. Having an influx of foreign players is initially good for the game. I have no problem in clubs signing foreign players if they are better than what is here. The problem arises when clubs bring in crap instead of bringing youth through.

My little lad is 5 and I take him to a Leeds United training school on a Monday. There must be 100 kids of all ages there during that night. they have 5 of these centres around yorkshire. That's 500 kids between the ages of 5 and 11 that they have access to. If every club from Leeds upwards has this system you get 20,000 kids playing football every week. You cannot use the old excuse that 'kids don't play football now they play computer games'.

Yer the computer games is just another excuse i think the FA generates.
It doesn't help that yet again the FA has scrapped its youth academy as its to expensive to build the centre! This comes from too many money men who have never even played the game or managed at any level (be it board or team) at any club making decisions! If they didn't waste there money on there wages and paying english footballers around 150k each last year for not qualifying then we might have some money!! its not like the FA are poor is it?

Man i am right on my soap box today aren't i?? I know i am gonna get gang murdered online by you lot tonight :P

i do agree with parts of what figgsy says but my point is the sorry state of young british players, there is going to be a time were the england team will be picked from the championship and last year talk was of picking robinson of wba as left back cause of the injurys to cole and bridge,i am not saying bringing in oversea,s is bad far from it what i am saying is the top players add to our home game but as a whole some teams bring in average players who add nothging and stop british talent from progressing,we need to limit how many oversea,s players and thats man u,liverpool arsenal every one.(we do tend to buy over the top prices for players)lol

Too right Rownaldo. I would make it the scrap the limit for players below 21. Any team should not be allowed to field more than 3 foreign players over the age of 21. This would stop the likes of Jari Litmanen (just signed by Fulham today - he's 36) taking the place of someone of is up and coming. But the bigger problem for me is English kids as said before. They have to prove they are worth a chance and not just to expect it. This is where the clubs have to be tougher on them. If they are not cutting the mustard get rid at an earlier age.

100% behind you on that one robbo, kids see football as a lifestyle of a pop star these days not about the hard work and the pride of putting the top on match days,i would cut my right arm off to play for man u or england just once(i would be crap at throw in with one arm),lol

Following on from the 'kids' training clubs at football grounds,I live in Scunthorpe,"where"I here you ask,its about 28 miles down the M180 from Grimsby town. And we too have a training evening, but its only once a week, this is because it is club sponsored,as its not a "big" club,it has to pay for its own kids training evenings ( I presume this is the same for other non big clubs ??? )I believe the kids have to pay a small fee.I have a few views on this.

If the F.A are as serious as they say they are about grass roots and youth policies etc, then they should be helping those who are trying very hard to do something about it with very little and sometimes no support,I've seen some of these kids and ok yes, most will never make it as footballers (reality not criticism, they all try hard )but there are some who have real potential who just dont have the financial backing, even though their parents hold down two sometimes three jobs, and its a great shame.

Also unless you are within a bus ride or have a car or lucky enough to live on the doorstep of a club that offers training programmes, your'e buggered,so more could be done i think for local clubs, look at the likes of Ian wright, wayne rooney and alan sherer, all were fortunate to be spotted playing for there local club, now,Imagine if those people hadn't been out and about on those particular occasions and spotted these 'lads',fans would have perhaps been robbed of a goals fest,a bit extreme perhaps because they were all spotted playing for local clubs in major cities, but you get my drift.

I want to know whats happened to trevor brooking, apart from overseeing the drawing of the balls for cup competitions, wasn't he given the position and salary of finding tommrows talent?
