Alright fellas! I currently have a Dell Dimension 9200 in the bedroom with an NVidia graphics card. On the back of the PC theres 2 ports the same (Digital I think) as they do not look like your conventional Monitor out/serial port. 1 goes into the Dell monitor itself and I have a adaptor included for a conventional monitor cable to be piggybacked onto the adaptor (if you know what I mean) So with this cable, I have hooked it up the to 32" toshiba tv I got. I've updated the Nvidia drivers and now I have a control panel for 'dual view' . When I rebooted the pc. The tele and monitor both came on at the same time and I thought I got it sussed :) However, the PC monitor went dead and the tele was displaying windows (which was fine) on the Nvidia control panel I can select the 'primary' display and I reverted back to PC, and again it worked fine. But now when I do it again, the tv is not responding, even when I reboot I see the windows splash page on BOTH, but the tele goes dead once windows has fully loaded up. I'm proper lost on settings now, as do I use windows display properties or still mess around with Nvidia control panel? Reason why I want the 32 is that the PC has a few movies downloaded and the missus prefers it on the 'big screen' |

Why don't you just transfer the films onto your PS3? |

The setup is upstairs in the bedroom, the black beast lives downstairs with the 40". I sort of sorted out the problem by buying a DVI - HDMI cable and the tele seemed more comfortable changing over from the monitor. Fingers crossed eh... |

I've got a gold DVI -> HDMI connector for my laptop. It works a treat connected to my TV. The only reason I purchased it was, I play alot of Stepmania...and it's not that good playing it on a 17" laptop screen, lol. But as for controls, I have mine set to "clone" display. I have to knock the resolution down from 1440x900 on my laptop, to something around 1320 in order to get a nice full size display on my TV. Everything is crystal clear. Now, when I owned an nVidia card once before, I use to have to "Force TV Detection" sometimes, in order to get any signal on the TV. |

have you tried streaming Andrew... Windows media player 11 does it fairly easily or TVersity (google it) works better :gr8: |

If all else fails regarding the cable option, I would do as Rascal suggests and use a streaming program. I personally use TVersity to stream my media, saves alot of time and discs. Also worth noting, is that the PS3 plays DIVX/XVID...so not sure which format you have been downloading movies in, but USB stick comes in handy too. |

So basically, you have a PS3 downstairs connected to a TV...you already use TVersity to stream to the PS3 downstairs onto the TV. You also have a nice big TV upstairs, but nothing connected to it. So basically, if you have a laptop like me, you will need a DVI -> HDMI lead. (If your connection is like my laptop and your TV has HDMI inputs). Then your new display should be picked up automatically by the nVidia software...if not, just select "Force TV Detection". The set your display to clone, and tweak the res of your laptop until you have a nice big clear picture on your TV. Posted Image Edited by Doodylicious, 24 Aug 2008, 10:38 PM.

HI S88HON only seeing post now ... was away on hols.... your pc thinks the tv is the monitor ... disconnect the tv and reboot it should correct to the monitor and use windows primary display to change to tv ... its a bit fidgety to setup but works fine. I have a pc built into the back of my 32" tv in kitchen and came across the same issue .... When you get it right you will see windows on the screen you want and the welcome screen on the other ... do take the tv off the connection and reboot ... oh what are you using to connect to the tv? |
