I thought about this the other day - how about Victor - winner of season 1 and dominating season 2 - have a squad match against the best that the rest have to offer? And for charity? The way how the charity would work is that those in either match pay a set amount to play in the game and the winning team wins their money back. The "Best VI" would be chosen by members of this forum in a poll. I think its a good idea - and its for charity. What do you think? |

no one should win there money back though all funds should be given to the charity :-) but thats if the victor boys are up for it that is . But tbh i would still bet that victor win and not just because i was with them but the fact that they work as 1 unit and even if the best of the best cod players from lmzf would not stand a chance as there would be no teamwork . And there is only so many kills you can get from one game :-) good for the charity though |

I can't speak for the rest of Victor but I think it is a good idea. Only thing is I remember something being mentioned previously about putting together a best of the best team and there was a lot of people against the idea. People thought that trying to identify the best players is really difficult and may lead to some people felling alienated. Probably best to see what the majority think |

@ dan ,,, yup i remember that well lol ,, could work if each team puts forward a candidate by poll ,, so if each team put a poll in there squad rooms listing there players then the winner of said poll gets put forward so that way there should not be the feeling of eliteism... but hey im just thinking its a good way to get some money rolling into the new charity ... |

That sounds like a good idea to me but why not then allow each person chosen to take part, I mean there is what - 11 squads so it would just mean a few would have to rotate and there is never going to be a day/time when everybody can make it |

Yep, well spotted Dan! The "elite" teams thread got out of hand and caused many arguments. Who's the best is not what LMZF is all about. I like the idea in principle though.....and it's for charity but if it starts to cause problems like before then it will have to be scrapped i'm afraid!! A player from each squad is a good idea rather than a vote on here. Edited by Ivor_Bigun, 20 Aug 2008, 09:12 AM.

Why don't we do the same as the 'Mods vs everyone' match? Where anyone can pay and play for a stab at Victor :gr8: That way we avoid the whole 'who's better than who' thing. |

I'm up for the idea in principle. But I really hate the idea of a 'Best VI' and I was only having this conversation yesterday since we write match reports but always take the player's names out and we were reviewing this practice. The best can't be determined by scores or kills and I fear this is what will be measured. The person who is the first to the HQ and holds up the rest of the enemy team long enough for the rest of the squad to arrive, but fails to capture or kill anyone might actually be the best player. Also, the person who picks the bomb up in Sabotage time and time again inching it closer and closer to the enemy base even though they have 0 kills 29 deaths might be the squad's most valuable player. So, I would specify one or two things:
That's all I can think of for now. |

Great points as usual Darren. Agree with you on the "Best". Someone who I consider to be one of the best players wouldn't make it onto the team simply because he doesn't top the score chart regularly and thats unfair IMO. Also agree that taking part and donating should be optional. Forced donations aren't right. |

All points are valid and should be taken into consideration. I think that the idea that a squad member is put forward by each squad, minus Victor, is a good idea |

Sorry, No deal. The only way this can possibly work is Victor state when they can field a squad, anyone who is available on that day and wants to kick our behinds sign up. Having squads nominate players is really bad in itself and could cause animosity in the squads so it's not going to happen as far as I'm concerned. Also, the inevitable would happen with most of the nominated players not being able to make the match night, and there are too many squads for them all to nominate a player and not to have spectators. If the goal is to raise money for charity, then we need as many people in as we can, which means that Victor will probably not be able to match the numbers of the Mercs and that is a challenge in itself. If the goal is simply to defeat Victor then it's probably better for everyone to just pay Xray to do it. :D Victor don't mind losing, we got trounced against the PSN forumers, we had a mediocre record on Gamebattles, the fact of the matter is it's brilliant practice for us. Communications plummets when we are being trounced and it needs to be the other way around, so it something we need to work on. The 'handicap' of playing a man down is simply to compensate for the fact that a group of players who haven't played as a group before will find it a little harder to work as a team than a team who has experience of working with each other. The last time we tried this they were really close battles (I seem to recall a Pipeline domination game being a 201-199 win for Victor). Edited by Karpathian, 21 Aug 2008, 08:49 AM.

I agree with Karpy. We had so much hassle with this whole 'who's better than who' thing. And there's no point getting people's backs up cos they weren't put forward. Anyone should be allowed ot play. But I do think that people should pay the charity contribution if they want to play, else it may as well be another merc vs victor match. There shouldn't be a set amount though, people should just pay what they can afford. Makes sense cos it's a charity match, and people don't have to play if they don't want to. The Victor guys shouldn't be made to pay, it's just a 'want a pop at the champs? get your chance and help a little girl' type thing. |

i must agree with karpy cause he is right you cant decide who is the best player out of a team, just because someone gets 100 kills in a game of headquarters dont mean squat if you end up losing the game for failing to capture the thing in the first place it is all about teamwork and each member of a squad is as important as the next member .. everyone contributes differently yes but all are equally important but the important thing here is what seems to of been forgotten HAVE FUN cause if you aint having any there is no point playing ... i hope this goes ahead though as it is for a good cause ... @danf ,, like that title m8 ”want a pop at the champs” |
