At the fantastic suggestion from Hitwman(lorraine) a subscription button has now been added to the forum. the purpose of this is twofold. firstly to pay to keep the boards advertisement free, previously paid for either by us generous mods, subsequently through kind donations from members using the donate button. secondly to help generate further funds for the Stroke Association and other future charities. the subscription period is 12 months, it can be cancelled at any time and costs a fiver ( £5) per month edit: or 6 months @ £2.50 pm I've tested it to make sure it works and so I am the first subscriber! thanks in advance on behalf of all members and staff mark Edited by potukxystus, 3 Jul 2008, 11:42 PM.

sorry should have made it clear subscription is on a totally voluntary basis. the board will(as far as we can control it) always be free to all members. There aren't any advertisement on the boards because some members use the donate button at the bottom of each page and put in what they can so we can pay to have them removed - currently costs about $18 per month but will increase as the membership increases as we get charged by the number of pages that are viewed additional monies over and above the ad-free costs will go to charity, so its doing good as well. its up to members to decide whether they find value in what they find here to subscribe or simply throw in the occasion couple of quid through the donate button hope that clarifies it? |

have now added(at lorraines further suggestion) reduced time and amount 6 months @ £2.50 per month again it can be cancelled at any stage.. remember it not only keeps the ads off the boards, but the excess goes to charity too.. current LMZF funds stand @ £102.45 GBP Edited by potukxystus, 3 Jul 2008, 11:44 PM.

The subscription is a GREAT idea :gr8: I for one will be supporting it whole heartedly ^_^ Can I please make a suggestion that one of the future charities to be considered be rheumatoid arthritis. My wife and I have been looking after my grandfather (but he is more like a father to me) quite intensively over the past 12 months, so its kinda close to our hearts :) I've seen at close quarters the crippling effects the illness has and the actual affects the drugs have on sufferers.......sorry to put a downer on the thread :) |

yeah is it possible to set up a few charity funds and share the excess out between them because sobell house hospice in oxford looked after my mum when she died of cancer 2 years ago and they were amazing kind and generous and a few nurses actually were in tears when my mum passed so it showed how much they care. |
