some avatars and signature file sizes are excessive.. to recap what has already been posted previously. maximum file size for avatars and sig images is 50kb, preferably much smaller, this includes any squad avatars/badges. the avatar I currently use (me wee pirate bloke) is 28.67 kB, the mod squad logo is 3.49 kB I'm not picking on anyone when I use the following example of what's currently being used, so please don't take offence, this isn't the only one.. avatar (over)340kb if this is posted more than once on a page that's a lot of loading... respect fellow members by making it easier for them to see what you are posting by keeping the sizes down on avatars, squad badges and signatures.. those who need help to do it, just ask (pm if you don't want to post here) right click your image and select 'properties' to check your own file sizes there will be a clearout at the weekend, any over the recommended size will be removed. thanks in advance mark |

A good way of shrinking file size is to use windows paint program, just reduce the size of your image a couple of % and when it saves it it shrinks the file by loads. Just save as a jpeg. I just tried it and reducing the image size to 99% and saving as jpeg it reduced it from 900kb to 69.1! That should keep everyone happy. |

yours is fine gary! cheers If anyone has several pics in their sig, try merging them into one picture and save as a .gif or .png...jpegs come sometimes be quite large unless you save them correctly as mark says, if you're not sure how to do it or don't have the tools then pm us. All members please note: Despite potukxystus' request to limit the file size of signatures they are still some oversized ones out there. Please limit your signatures to one file only. They are to be 500x100 pixels max and should NOT exceed 50kb 50kb restriction applies to Avatars too Sorry for the rules but as previously stated this will help pages load faster and keep the forum neat and tidy Thanks Edited by Ivor_Bigun, 1 Jul 2008, 03:37 PM.

It should be that you can have multiple images if they don't exceed 500x100 when combined on the page. If you aren't sure, please ask. |

have a look online for Irfanview, a small, very quick, and best of all free, image viewer that i've been using for years. it also has a useful image resize option (look for batch conversion/rename) for anyone having trouble changing their image size. promo over - honestly, I'm not on comission :) |

I think that when your browser loads the thread in, it still needs to load the sig images in too, so the bigger the images (file size wise) the longer it takes to load the page. If you need a hand resizing your images to fit in the 500x100 space, please let me know |
