After a failed attempt at an attack on our member database, all members need to re register. To date over 110 have already done so, many thanks to the sad individual who carried out the deed as it has succeeded in making LMZF that much stronger.

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT - everyone needs to read
Posted by potukxystus (LMZF Moderator) at 26 Aug 2008, 08:13 PM. 476 comments
I know that seems a fairly dramatic title, but the following proposal deserves every members serious attention.
As most know by now we have been working endlessly on improving the 'free board' provided by Zetaboards. This has involved some serious hours donated free of charge by an awful lot of people. Some time ago a discussion took place between myself and rascal with the view to COMPLETELY SHUTTING DOWN this board and moving the whole lot to professional software based forums hosted on our own server.
the reasons for doing this are as follows:
zetaboards supply the board free and get their money either when the ads are displayed or from the forums paying them to have the ads removed, as in our case. We receive no monies from those ads and the kind donations from many members ensure they stay away. Currently this costs around £10 per month to do.
the boards as everyone knows are severely limited in function. We have been without sub-moderator facilities for nearly two months and nothing from zeta support to suggest a return.
Here is the proposal.
vBulletin is a professional software app which is licensed and therefore costs money. We have enough in the coffers either for the 1 year licence or to opt to buy the unlimited licence which also gives full free tech support.

server hosting for unlimited bandwidth is much less than the £10 per month we pay for the ads removal now..
We need to know from our members what their thoughts are and a poll has been set up for that purpose
Call this the consultation stage.. I spent most of last night and a fair bit today on the phone with the moderating team, including Another-Sale, and everyone is excited about making LMZF an even better place to be..

Monthly Clear Out Is Complete
Posted by xxSTARGATExx (LMZF Moderator) at 25 Aug 2008, 07:27 PM. 15 comments
Just to keep you all updated.
I have just finished this months forum tidy up,and this time I was ruthless.
Many dead topics were deleted and umpteen posts were deleted too.
Topics of interest or informational ones have as usual been kept,I did toy with the Idea of creating a new section just for those but it wasn't really practical, the forum should now make for easier browsing/trawling again.
I will keep an eye on it and check things in about two weeks, because as was pointed out recently, our membership has grown meaning more and more people are posting which is good and what we want, can't really see the need for another tidy out at that stage but you never know,I'll make a decision based on what I see at that time
Enjoy

squad leaders/2IC

a problem has arose with the special group privileges set up for squad leaders/ 2ICs that has forced me to delete this option.
sincere apologies for any inconvenience because of this but it was a very necessary step. don't ask why because its not in the public domain.
until zetaboards sort out their mod privs problems(since july btw) YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT A MODERATOR for any moves, deletions etc to any part of the forum.
also it means that due to the forced change that the staff room is closed as most will no longer have access to it.
as soon as normal service is resumed i'll post again
thanks

Using AOL Browser? Read this please!

It's come to our attention that members using AOL's browser are experiencing problems with the forum. These include not being able to use the pm systm and not being able to view certain sections of the forum
Simple solution....DON'T use it!!
Our recommended Browser is Firefox. Download it HERE Faster and easier to use than IE
or
Safari. Download it HERE Also much faster and easier to use than IE
or
Even Internet Explorer is better than AOL's own browser

PSN game tag added to your profiles
Posted by potukxystus (LMZF Moderator) at 20 Aug 2008, 03:24 PM. 23 comments
you may have noticed I have a nice psn tag under my profile..
this is how it works..
for now its only available using the VOX theme as there was quite a lot of javascript and CSS coding involved to do it
it only works with the official psn one, playfire etc WILL NOT WORK, so please don't ask me to change it.
1. create a portable psn id here
http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Network/LinkFAQ
once you have completed that return to the forum and hover on 'preferences' on the top menu bar.
select 'update profile' from the drop down menu
at the bottom of your profile you will now see 'PSN name'
simply type your PSN user name in
thats it
btw if anyone has problems doing it.. then PM me

LMZFclan Online Store
Posted by potukxystus (LMZF Moderator) at 20 Aug 2008, 11:41 AM. 54 comments
We had previously toyed with the idea of an online store of sorts to either help run the forum or direct the funds to the charities.
being off at the moment, I've had time to do some research and start putting things in place..
hence, we now have a fairly basic page added to the forum which contains selected company ad banners. clicks from here to their sites pay money, clicks thru were you buy stuff from them earn commission.
the moderating team all have access to the details of transactions and amounts earned, these will also be published here on a weekly or monthly basis so everyone is aware of the success rate
stores available now(will be edited as we are approved for more)
hotels.com - get your hotel booked for that weekend away
kiddiecare.com - for all those parents amongst us
national lottery uk - does what it says
waterstones.co.uk - books, cds, dvds etc
cotwoldOutdoor.com - outdoor clothing, tents, gps , all stuff for the great outdoors..
Carphone Warehouse - everything mobile and more
LoveFilm - rent all those lovely movies and games
play.com - everything we ever wanted!
Ticketmaster - tickets, tickets and more tickets
waiting approval on others at the moment, these include
Additions Direct 40 days unlimited referral Retail 8%
BangCD 30 days Retail 10%-11%
Ben Sherman 40 days, unlimited referral Retail 8 %
Cartridge People 60 days Retail 8% - 12%, 2% on printers
CD-Wow 14 Day Retail 5% Until 24th March (Normally 4%)
Country Cottages in Ireland 28 days Travel £7.50 per booking
Country Cottages in Scotland 28 days Travel £7.50 per booking
Game 45 day Recurring Cookie Retail 3% Hardware up to 11% Software
Gamestation 45 days Retail 2-8% dependent
hmv.com 30 days Retail 6% to 10% 1%consoles & MP3 Hardware
ibuyeco 30 days Insurance £30 - £40 per policy
Laterooms.com 45 days Travel 5%
Linguaphone 30 days Retail 15%
National Trust 30 days Subscription £20 per membership sale
Nokia 30 days Mobile 5-10% dependent on sales
Setanta Sports 30 days Broadband and TV Tiered £12-£15
Staples 15 days Retail 7%
Virgin Media 30 days Broadband and TV £65 Cable products £37 Non Cable products
great bit of copy and paste there lol..
programme approval takes a while unfortunately and not all companies are available to us but I'll update the information as I get it and will continue to sort the formatting of the store page as its still in its infancy..
the store link can be found on the submenu bar which is directly under the picture banner for the forum

Newsflash
LMZF Member list has just hit 200 for the first time.
Don't get too excited.....some of that number is made up of people who've joined but never been back to the forum after their sign-up. These will be deleted in accordance with our rules. The day when we have 200 active members is not far away!

the files for the rank 'badges' are currently being edited, just in case yours disappears - again, no need to panic.
eventually all the images will be converted over, including the bigger emoticons..
started with these two as testers

ALL members votes please
closes on thursday 31st july at midnight or there abouts
in the event you haven't a clue how to change the theme, its at the bottom of the page on a drop down box with 'choose a theme ' beside it
whichever theme wins at the close of business will be set as the default theme. you can still change the theme to your own preference using the dropdown box

like it says need new banners .
have 'upped' one on a temporary basis until someone does a better on, which shouldn't take too long lol
the file is being hosted off my own server to speed download times.
use the dimensions off the temp one and the general theme as a guideline.
the original psd file is here:
