| This forum was started to provide a place for fantasy-fiction and science-fiction fans to discuss authors' works, talk, have fun, and to write. Just as in the Real world, this forum has a code of conduct. The rules and guidelines outlined below, are deemed by the moderators and administrators of this forum, to be fair and were made to keep the forum a respectable place that we can all share and enjoy. Please follow these rules and guidelines. In most cases, the first violation of the forum rules will result in a warning. A second violation will result in being banned from the forum, and in extreme circumstances, your ISP administrator will be notified. Each level of sanction is subject to review on a case-by-case basis 1. Always be polite and respectful! Starting a flame thread (an insulting thread) or responding in kind is not allowed. If you are offended by a statement any member has made- report it to a moderator. People who post flames or deliberately spiteful comments about other forum members will be warned and, if the behaviors are repeated, will receive the above mentioned sanctions. You may have an opinion about someone, but if it is a hurtful one, try to keep it to yourself. With so many people, personality clashes are almost guaranteed, and often the best way to resolve these arguments is to discuss it off the board. 99% of forum issues can be attributed to a lack of respect. 2. Polite disagreement, based on tolerance of the views and ideas of others, is the way our discussions are to be conducted. Show common courtesy. Feel free to express dissagreement but back up your views. Well-thought out responses like "That author sucks!!!!!" accomplish very little other than to lessen the validity of your views in the eyes of others. 3. Respect will be shown to others' religion, race, sexual lifestyle, etc. Efforts to learn about others are welcomed and encouraged, but as soon as involved parties cease to listen to the other side, the moderators may intervene. 4. If you have an issue concerning another forum member, please either speak to this person directly via email or an instant message program; if necessary contact one of the moderators. This applies for private conversations as well. 5. Any member who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact a forum moderator immediately via private message. The moderators are: Whitetrash Shirl Ravenlock nixie Please contact the relevant moderator, failing that- any moderator currently online. 6. No Spam! Please be thoughtful when you post. Only post topics that you think other people will find interesting, funny or enjoyable. Please don’t post for the sake of posting or to gain a certain level! 7. Absolutely no pornography, swearing, or cursing can be contained within posts, signatures or signature pictures. What exactly constitutes violations of this rule is a matter of common sense and civil behavior. References to bodily functions or sexual activities have no place in the forum. Any images depicting material of this nature will be deleted and the poster may have the ability to post images revoked. Further violations may result in the forum member being banned from the website. 8. Keep signatures size down! Please, be reasonable when making a signature. Remember, there are people who have slower computers or connections than you, and it can take a while to load a page. If you wish to resize you signature’s picture, and don’t know how, just ask and someone will do it for you! A few lines that means something to you is nice, but keep in mind that after the first two dozen times that full-color photo of your dog will start to get old QUICKLY. 9. Be friendly and patient with each other. After all, we are all here to have fun! 10. When visiting the forums for the first time, it is advised to read recent threads for awhile before posting, or "lurking". This is simply to get a feel for the environment. Also, check to see if there is a thread that already deals with your topic and add your post there if relevant. 11. Please post in the appropriate Forum, if you don't your post will be moved. Also, please do not post to draw attention to one of your other posts in a different forum. If the post is interesting, the other members will find it on their own accord. Also, please do not post messages solely to draw attention to or increase your post number. This may annoy other members, and clutters the forum. 12. When discussing an author, please be aware that not everyone has read all the books. If you are posting about a major event in a novel, please inform others that you may be posting spoilers at the beginning of your post! Spoiler information from specific books should be posted in their respective forums, and threads that will contain spoilers should have "spoilers" written in their subscript (visible under the thread title) 13. Do not post copyrighted material. This would include song lyrics, book excerpts, magazine articles, or links to websites that support such infringements. 14. The editing function allows you to change the content of your post. Repeated abuse of this function will result in a warning. Please tick the box "add the edited by line" when changing content. 15.role playing is only aloud in the roleplaying section and it will be mod free for now unless it gets carried away in there 16. No recruiting is allowed here. Any threads whose sole purpose is recruiting will most probably be deleted. Using personal messenger with the sole purpose of recruiting forum members is not allowed. First offense will result in a warning, and if ignored, will result in suspension or banning. -If you receive such Personal Messages, please report them to a Moderator, it is a serious offense. |
