As Kayley awaited Lauren's reply to her sentence she again thought about the town that was ruin and needed help badly. Somehow Kayley unlike many wondered why the King hadn't done anything about it. She didn't have enough courage to confront him about or she would be thrown into jail with a some weird reason for questioning his kingship. Kayley lend back on the couch taking out her pencil and pan once more to draw again. It was the only thing to do when she was bored. She didn't hear the carriage pulling up outside or the rain stopping. Lauren had said something to her a while ago, but she had gone to her quiet world where she could draw in peace. Upon hearing a voice she snapped out of her place and looked at Lauren, who was in her own thoughts. Where they going to get caught for trespassing? Kayley began to wonder who it could be. The sound of the carriage wasn't as sudden as Royal carriages do, so it couldn't be that. She caged her neck was the door was open and reviled a man, who was probably in the King's Court by the looks of his attire. "Yes, it is." Kayley replied now noticing the rain had stopped outside. Hearing the birds sing was a sign of it," I'm Kayley Porter and this is Lauren Lambchild. You're forgiven for the apology everyone does it when they are busy." She said introducing herself and Lauren to the Earl, " I can try to help you and your quest? What or who do you seek?" she asked with a smile. She stopped for a moment to think and looked back up at the Earl,"You said you work for his Majesty? I was wondering if I can send him a message for aid in Beantown." She added with a concern tone in her voice hoping he would allow her to send a message to the King about a real problem within his own Kingdom that she witness first hand on. |

Lauren was about to answer when she closed her mouth. Someone had just entered the room. Well that was strange. Wasn't this place haunted? Shouldn't they get some peace and quiet once in a while? Lauren's lip quivered. She held in the urge to frown. "And why exactly would you be coming here with orders from the King? I trust you intend to close this place or something of the sort." Lauren said. "Oh but I am forgetting my manners." She said, slightly sarcastically. "Yes, I'm Lauren, from Little Lamb Village. Pleased to meet you, sir. If we can be of any assistance please don't hesitate..." to go jump off a cliff she thought angrily. She didn't hate this man, but she wanted peace and quiet, something she wasn't getting. She sighed. She should be nicer, at least for the night. "Don't hesitate to ask." She finished. |

There was a smile—wide and friendly—across Briole’s face as Kayley spoke. But it disappeared the moment Lauren began to scoff harshly. He shifted in his spot and tugged lightly at the cuffs of his royal regalia. Briole was a cheerful, distracted man but that didn’t mean he held no pride in the kingdom and those within. Therefore the moment Lauren began to attack him—whether it was subtle or not—his bubbly persona was replaced with a moment of annoyance with the girl. “That, Lauren, is not of your business, is it? I am the Earl—me, Briole, like I said. And as completely clever as I’m sure you must be to automatically assume my business in Rivertown is bad, I’m afraid it’s not quite in your scope of status to question why I’m here at all.” His voice was cheery still but it was as Briole shifted the monocle in his right eye that the flush of his cheeks could be seen, indicating annoyance. He wasn’t often annoyed or angry—he was too distracted and preoccupied to succumb to it. But this was a moment in which he refused to tolerate such sarcasm and insult. “Now—Miss Kayley, was it not? I came here to find a lad by the name Frederick that sent word to the kingdom; not to close down anything—“ Briole’s eyes cut to Lauren for a moment, annoyance still lingering there before he looked towards Kayley again. A smile crossed his face and his cheeks lost the redness as he began to focus outside of that anger. “However I want to talk more about what you’ve asked—aid to Beantown you say? Yes, yes…the village of great ruin, I know.” Briole brought a hand to rest on his chin for a moment before he gave a nod. “I can certainly pass on word to his majesty but as I hear it—I have dreadfully keen hearing—there is already intent to send aid to Beantown soon. Our armies were needed elsewhere for a brief moment—it is the biggest in all the nine kingdoms—but the moment those men return, they will be sent to Beantown to repair the damage done.” Briole told her kindly, smile never wavering. He dropped his hands in fronto f him and linked his fingers together. “If you don’t mind me asking, is that where you are from? Beantown?” |

Lauren shifted. She was insulted, truly, but she deserved it, as she knew well. "Forgive me, then, if I'm wrong, it hasn't been a wonderful night for me, either." She said sincerely, a small smile on her face. It would do her well to be nicer to some people, especially people so near to the king, she knew. But somehow, she has assumed the entire kingdom was like her town, and that it was safe to assume all people were idiots. Perhaps she had been wrong. "I suppose perhaps it's not my business after all." She forced out the last bit. Not her business? Well. Whatever he said. Lauren watched as kayley and him struck into conversation, grateful to be left alone for a minute to collect her thoughts. |

Kayley locked eyes on Lauren for a bit wishing she had never spoken like that towards a Earl or a someone close to the King. She knew her manners and thanked for Aunt for teaching her those harsh lessons long ago. She again looked at Lauren for a moment before speaking,"Lauren why not you go outside for a bit." she said knowing that Lauren wanted to be alone and Kayley didn't blame her. Hearing the calm tone in the Earl's voice made Kayley look at him,"Forgive her, but she's not at all well at the moment." she said trying to help Lauren and knew that she wasn't feeling at all well. "Yes, it is my lord. Fredrick? I think he was on the boat that I was on earlier. He could be in still in Rivertown if you can catch him in time." Kayley replied remembering a man named Fredrick on the boat and there was something about a business spoken about. "I'm sure he's still in town, but I not so sure." Kayley hoped that Lauren went outside for fresh air or something bad would happen since she was trying to help Lauren in every way she could. "About Beantown, I witness first hand on how bad it is. People scrambling to try to pick up where they left off, their homes and businesses destroyed. Not to mention how unsanitary the place is...dead bodies laying everywhere of both Troll and Human. People there are suffering..badly." Kayley said discribing the place and how terrible it was loud enough so he could hear it and pass it on to the King himself. "I understand the situation we're in, but instead of sending an army maybe people who wants and does know what to do when they get there. Basically volunteers of both doctors, nurses, and others from different towns around the Kingdom. People who they could count on." Kayley ended was a brave smile as if someone had patted her on the back for being so brave and considerate of the people around her. " I was originally from Beatown, but I live in the Coastal area of the 1st Kingdom. My loyalties are still with this Kingdom." |

Lauren shrank back a bit. Oh dear, perhaps she had gone too far. She shook the idea away. "Yes, I think a bit of fresh air would be good. Again, most dreadfully sorry, sir. The town I come from most everyone's rather daft, I expected the entire world to be so. Apparently not around here." She said with a small chuckle. Oh dear, she wished she could get back into the earl's good graces... this wasn't going so well. Why, why was she always so harsh to everyone? Why was she such a complete bitch? First to Kayley now this poor man. He was just doing his job. It wasn't his fault she disagreed with her government. Hell, it wasn't even the king's. Something about the image of happiness simply bothered her. Kayley shot a quick, grateful glance Kayley's way before walking out the door. |
