"Would ya stop that?" Seton hissed as he shoved Ruse forward by the scruff of his collar. Grish was close behind him. Seton had left Scruff outside, giving strict orders to 'watch the girl'--he hadn't made it clear which one he meant. They had stayed around the camp, eating food and drinking the ale they passed out in pints full. At least that's what the others had done--Seton refused anything given to him, sitting quietly and brooding for a majority of the time. His eyes would cut to Kate and then Starr every few minutes to make sure she was still there--or, better yet, that neither had gotten to much talking. It was the ale that had him shoving around Ruse, Seton's annoyance with his friend's singing growing in height. He had gathered up the other two and caught their attention, bringing them away from the crowd as soon as he could. The fact that Ruse was slightly tipsy only annoyed him that much more. "We gotta get rid of the girl--both of 'em." Seton told them, eyes shifting first towards the light of the bonfire then back to their faces, halfway hidden in the dark. "As great as it may feel to have ya bellies full, we gotta go now...and we gotta take the little broad with us." Seton said as he shifted in his spot and leaned up against one of the vacant carriages that was parked beside them. He ran a hand across his head and closed his eyes for a second. "We got out, didn't we? Because of ya, Ruse..." Seton didn't open his eyes but he paused for the briefest second. "Ya're plan failed but we're out nonetheless...so thank ya." It almost sounded painful for him to utter the words as he opened his eyes again. "But stickin' around here ain't safe, I'll tell ya that much. Not with that lad poking her nose into everything...we don't want her around, trust me." |

"FAILED?!" He howled merrily, laughing the whole while. "Oi, are ye mad there Set me mate? 'Cause, way I see it - it's 'cuz'uh me that yer here at all. Know what - I could go back and talk 'em back into takin' ya back if ya want! I know I could do it too - and not even gettin' myself caught...wanna see it?" He leaned over and hissed at Seton in a cheerful slur. "I can. Watch me!" He did a small spin in his spot sloshing the mug of ale he had in his hand. "Wha...?" He stumbled back a little. "But...er wait. Yer wantin' ter leave?" He tried to focus in on Set as he wobbled on his drunk legs. "Why?" He asked quickly. "Why we gotta ditch the girls. Me likes em." He said with a little snicker. "You just wanna bail on em because they don't likes you - they likes me." He said with a little tongue poke out at Seton. "Why?" He furrowed his brow at Seton. "Doesn't the cute - oh hell they're both cute - but the cute one like you? Like she's got it bad - I think she would kick yer ass too; if given the chance. Did you eat any o'the pig. That some good piggie. Oink oink Setty." He grinned. "Come on man, really?" He grinned. "Just relax - we're free. Take a lesson from the old Ruse...this is how you get people to believe you. Ya gotta live with em, get down with em - on their level matey." He tried to peek over the carriage but waved it off when he couldn't see over it - not realizing he could look around it. "They're less suspicious if you don't give em reason too. I can take the laddie, both of them - all of em. They'll believe me. Just tell me what you want em to know - I'll tell em." |

Grish had to celebrate, there was nothing in him that said it was not a good idea to celebrate right then. This was the first meal in years that didn't involve the green goop they had been fed in prison and it felt good inside his stomach. And though he hadn't as much as Ruse, he'd had his fair share of the ale as well. Who knew when they would have a meal this good again, Set was an idiot for not taking the time to enjoy it with them. "They like me too." He spoke up, his mouth full of food as he gorged himself. "At least they like me sometimes. I think." Once he had swallowed, he took a break from stuffing his mouth long enough to agree. "I don't see the point. I mean, we have food. Pretty ladies." Picking up his glass, he added, "Ale. We have everything we need and I likes 'em. That one sure told you off so I like her all the more." In truth, he wasn't sure how much he liked the one girl, having been quick to sell them out for what he was sure was a stupid reason. Set had probably done her and ditched her at some point, that was his guess but it didn't matter. He didn't want to just ditch Starr, maybe he wasn't a 'professional guard' but he had survived prison so he had to be tough. He figured he could take on whatever they threw at him. Maybe he could even help. |

Starr ate food slowly, but a ton of it. The environment was friendly and happy, and perhaps the ale had something to do with that. Still, the tension from earlier was gone. "So, thanks so much for all this food." She said as she sat next to Kate. "You've been very kind, to just a bunch of strangers." She couldn't help but smile. It was the most fun she had had in ages. "So, how do you know Seyton?" |

He kicked at the ground around them, eyes first cutting to Ruse by the carriage and then Grish, the mug of ale in his hands still. "I don't wanna tell 'em a God damn thing--look, ya might like 'em both well enough but ya won't be beggin' to keep 'em around when they land us all back in jail." "Ya didn't listen to her, didja? Kate...her uncle is Gabriel. It's not a ruddy coincidence, lads, it's that Grabiel. And..." Seton licked his lips, stepping closer to them. He grabbed onto Grish's shirt sleeve and tugged him closer to where Ruse was against the cart. His voice dropped lower as he spoke again. "And there's a reason he went and broke himself out...a reason he went on runnin'. There's a reason I wanted out too." "It ain't gonna matter if they believe us, Ruse..." Seton gave a roll of his eyes before his shoulders slumped slightly. "I didn't lie when I said that girl knew who killed Starr's mum--she does, and so do ya lads." "I'm sure both ya would like to get those broads in ya knickers--go on, do it if ya like. Ya can have both of 'em for yerselves, I don't give damn." Seton scoffed, shoving his hands into the pockets of his uniform. He was sick of it--sick of them not just trusting him. They needed to get Starr and Kate separated, they needed to leave right then with Starr and just book it any which direction. And then they needed to loose Starr too--Seton was sick of trying to make them realize it. "But ale or not, pretty ladies or not...I'm leavin', whether ya comin' or not. I'm leavin' right now." |

Starr was listening from behind and bit her lip. Obviously Kate was telling the truth, they weren't her guards. And Seyton didn't seem to want to be near her... or anyone. Loner much? Still, she was touched by the loyalty of the others. Mentally, she swore that she would stick by them more often. "So..." She started, turning to the men. "Are we staying here overnight?" Her voice was a whisper, just in case she wasn't supposed to let Kate hear anything. |

"Look - no one's going to jail." Ruse said in a nonchalant sort of manner. "No more jail for any of us." He pointed at Grisham with the mug still gripped in his hand as he threw his spare arm around Seton's shoulders. "See, ya see that right there. They like him too. Hell they probably even like you." He turned the finger he was pointing at Grisham back at Set and poked him in the chest. "And that's saying something. 'Course not if you keep on bein' all morose. And not that Kate girl - leave her to me though. I'll take good care of her." He winked before stumbling away from Set. The silly smile and stumbling stopped rather suddenly when Set spoke of Gabriel and Kate's context to him. He shook his head and managed the first stoic expression and she swiveled his head back around to look at Grisham. "Wait...wait just a minute." He said holding his head as he gave it a final shake, tossing the mug aside. "You didn't say nothin' about Gabriel when we busted out. What's he got to do with all this...are you saying that Gabriel killed Starr's mum?" He moved forward, not nearly sober - but certainly seeming as if he'd been sobered by the news; and truth be told he had in some fashion. He was, in the hazy fog still trying to wrap his mind around it. His fingers grabbed onto Set's shirt sleeve. "You wouldn't have nothing to do with that wouldja Set? Please Set, tell me and Grish you didn't kill nobody - especially that sweet little thing's mummy." He shook his head hard. "Gabriel's niece? Didja say that? Did I hear ya right? That? That girl? Wait'a minute - why do we have to separate those girls...why - unless, do you think Gabriel will come after Starr?" |

They had stumbled upon the gathering of the small townsfolk by accident--passing through the trees in search of a proper camp and the fire light drew them there. Florizel and Marcellus were never ones to turn down a nice mug of ale and food too. This bunch--as it stood--was the generous type and Florizel's stomach had long ago been filled by a hearty stew and fresh bread. "Miss Kate! What a lovely gathering you have here...I can't imagine how I could repay you for the food. Perhaps you would like it back? It'll take a while but I could manage." He exclaimed with a wink, falling into step before Kate and Starr. Patting at his stomach, Florizel laughed before he stooped forward and took hold of Starr's hand. He pressed it against his heart and lowered his eyes to meet her's. "And who might you be? A fair maiden wondering the country side, a lover of the night and sky...please, good lady...are you a friend of Miss Kate's?" Florizel's eyes were sparkling, his voice light and airy as he brought the back of her hand to meet his lips. "A friend of Miss Kate's is a friend of mine--will you dance?" Florizel asked quickly, indicating to the music coming from around the fire not far off. |

Kate had been distracted and on edge since Seton showed up. She especially didn't like that the disappeared into the shadows with the other two. She glanced back at Starr when she spoke to her. "Huh? Oh." She managed a little smile. "You're well more than welcome. The more the merrier they always say. As for Set...he's, a friend of my uncle. If one could be called friend to the other." She said glancing back down at the mug in her hand. She set it aside. "Believe me - you don't want to trust this man. He's...dangerous." She said with a furrowed brow of concern. However she was pulled out of the moment of concern by Florizel. She grinned up to him and let out a little laugh. "Well just as I was telling Starr here, the more the merrier. We were glad to you have you and your song and playing was payment enough. You've carried your weight among us more than most who join in the festivities - but it makes them no less welcome." She tipped her head in with the same grin. "But please, keep the food." She told him with a little worried smile and wave of her hand. "We have no need for it back." "She...new to the group, happened by just like you." Kate said, but it was too late; he'd already scooped her hand up and asked for a dance. She drew back a little with a sly little grin; wondering if there was some sort of intrigue going on by the slight sparkle in his eye and the cheer in his voice. Bards had that effect on people; they were drawing and charismatic. This one was no different. Had she been in Starr's position she just knew she'd be susceptible to his charms had he been using them at her. As a result she was thankful he had turned to her for a dance. |

Starr blushed as he grabbed her hand. "Yes, I'm new. My name is Starr." She smiled in the direction of the new guy. "As for dancing... that sounds lovely. But really, what kind of a gentlemen doesn't even introduce himself to a girl before hitting on her?" She teased, a twinkling laugh emerging as she stood up, realizing he still held her hand. Dancing sounded good... so good. |

"Shut it...don't go off so loud like that." Seton hissed, running a hand across his short hair again. He sighed heavily and pulled Ruse's finger tips off his sleeve. This wasn't at all how it was supposed to happen--he was supposed to leave with the two and then travel far, far away from the prison. Maybe start a whole new life where he was clean, where no one knew him--maybe even leave Grish and Ruse behind. Anything but this would've been better. "Would ya stop blabberin' on and I'll answer ya questions, all right--all of 'em." Seton snapped before he sighed again and bowed his head slightly. "I didn't say a ruddy word about Gabriel and that broad's mum, did I? He...it's all complicated lads, it's all a big ol' complicated mess. Ya just got thrown it for no reason and if ya had just listen to me..." Seton trailed off before he shook his head. "Yes, all right!? He...he did 'er mum in and I helped. It all goes beyond her mum though--who gives a bit about the girl's mum anyhow? I didn't know what Gabriel was gettin' me into 'til it was all done and over with...but look--" Seton dropped his voice even lower--low enough that the sound of the wind, the dancing, the music, and even the crackle of the fire beyond covered up his voice. "He will, yeah...but there's more to it lads. A lot more...just trust me, all right? They can't be together, Kate and Starr...if they're together, if Kate starts yappin' off 'er little bloody mouth to that kid, it's over for all of us. We'll be back in a cell by sun rise." Seton told them before he took a step back and stood up straighter in his spot. "So we leave--now. We take 'er with us and we dump 'er off in some village a ways away. You lie to 'er...you tell we were told to put 'er in some safe house, in a village that'll protect 'er." Seton told Ruse before his eyes lingered to Grish. "You charm 'er--I reckon she likes ya a fair be more than she does me. Make 'er laugh, keep 'er from askin' too many questions. I don't care, just do it. Are you laddies in? Because if not, I'll kidnap that girl meself and get rid of 'er." |

Florizel's smile widened as he bowed his head slightly. "Touche, good lady--I take your rhetorical question to heart and offer you a name in return. Florizel Iris--a mouth full indeed but take it as you will. Florizel or Iris or both too boot--I'm not all that picky." He said with a wink before taking her hand and helping her up to her feet. His eyes flickered to Kate for a moment and he offered her a smile too. "You, Miss Kate...perhaps you will be next. If my poor, sore feet can handle another jaunty tune." "Starr was it?" Florizel asked as he led her closer to the fire, the heat coming in waves from the flames. He smiled and brought her closer, hands loosely around her shoulders as the moved to the lively music drifting over them. "I have not--in my many, many years--heard a name that fit so perfectly...if I might...give me a moment to be a dreamer and I will ask for no more." He told her with a smile as he spun her and then drew her back to him. "A star...bright in the sky, glowing against the inky black surface of the night...is it not the only bright thing in this world? Imagine the world without stars for a moment. We would be left with nothing but the darkness of night--the forbidden, scary darkness that lurks in blankets of black shadows. The day without a sun is still a day--fear doesn't lurk in the blue skies of an early morn' or a late afternoon. But at night...without a star to cast light upon the ground around you, there is nothing to see--nothing but your own fear." Florizel was speaking quietly, his words seeming to flow with the music as he did speak. "Perfection you see--a perfect name for a maiden like yourself. For a bright star such as you." Florizel told her with a wide smile before he tipped his head to the side. "And my moment of true dreaming is over--I promised no more and no more will I deliver." |

Starr smiled. "Lovely name." She said. Her smile widened. "Go ahead." She said. Starr had never been a people person, but she was slightly drunk and having so much fun. Starr began to blush the moment he started to speak. She turned more and more red as he continued. Though whether it was from being so close to the fire, feeling embarrassed or being woozy. "Well thank you for a lovely dance." She said, stopping a moment as the music ended. She curtsied slightly and turned, ready to go sit back down. |
