The afternoon in the lower part of the 1st Kingdom sat still as the air around it. There wasn't as many people down here as many thought about who lived down here. There was of course a few farmers and a few fallen families that made this part their home even though an abandon castle was down the beach. Not many would go near it since the ' superstitious' about it being haunted or something went into people's minds like rain. Kayley was the only one would went down there to sit on the waterless stairs that faced the ocean. She looked up seeing her horse Amber eating the grass nearby with her dog Trixie sniffing the ground as if she was searching for something. Kayley sat there a few more minutes reflecting on her tragic past before she tossed away the rose in her hand as if she didn't care about it anymore. She stood up while calling her dog as she saddled her horse once more. She gave the sea one last look before she rode away from the lower lands to the busy village near the Cinderella Castle. Kayley thought about visiting her father as a usual event and knew the sooner she saw him and her stepmother the sooner she could come back to the sea side house that she shared with her Aunt. Trixie, her beloved dog, had long since left for the small house leaving her miles away on her horse Amber. Once the village came up to her with the white castle at the end of the village was simply beautiful as she sat on her horse on a hill overlooking the village. She forgotten how beautiful it was, but turning her eyes to a manor not far from the village was where she was address to go to. "Let's get this over with Amber." Kayley said steering her horse towards the manor as a fimiliar man greeted her. She smiled for a while meeting her new stepmother and a stepsister. It was near the next day when she rode out into the woods to a pond in the middle of it. She tried her horse up on a branch and walked towards the other edge of the woods. Seeing the castle close up, but yet so far away made those childish dreams come back to her. She heard a rumbling noise seeing a royal carriage roll up to the gates. It only meant that someone was coming to see Cinderella. Backing up she turned and went to a spot near a willow tree. As she sat there she wondered about her past and how those childish dreams of hers were gone. "What was I thinking? Silly of me dreaming about a royal life." she said throwing a rock into the still pond before her. She often wished that her mother or someone was here. |

"Indeed--" Maggie's voice cut through softly from behind Kayley. There was a small smile on her face that betrayed the distaste she held for the woman seated below the willow tree. They weren't far off from the castle and, as a technicality, Kayley was more than welcomed on the grassy lands around the high walls but that did not mean that she was accepted by all the nobles a like. Known for their hostility and staunch behavior, Maggie and the two woman beside her didn't take too kindly to anyone beyond royalty so close to the gates. "It is simply heartwarming to hear that you understand the silliness of your dreams---that you understand they won't come true any time soon." Her voice was light and airy, completely in opposition to the bluntness of her words. It was in Maggie's blood to be surrounded by a magic, almost mystical feel--her ancestry, dating back beyond that of the five woman who created all that was before them, was encased in magic, both good and evil. But it wasn't a story may knew as it had been more than two hundred years since the death of the well known sorceress Morgan le Fay and all that encompassed her legacy. She had been alive long before the kingdoms split to make nine; it had been long enough that people forgot about the likes of Morgan and her linage. But that didn't stop Maggie and her other ancestors from serving as Cinderella's sorceress for many generations. "We cannot blame you though, myself and my comrades. As silly a dream as it is, you can hardly be condemned for wanting such a lavish life." Maggie told her with a false sweetness before bowing her softly. "Where are my manners--I am Margaret le Fay, a royal to the court of her majesty." Her eyes flickered first to Rosalind and then to Morrigan, issuing them both sharp looks with a darkness in her eyes as if she long ago expected them to introduce themselves and she was annoyed that they had yet to do so. |

At the sound of a voice Kayley froze for a moment before she looked behind her seeing another woman nearby. Studying her she was a royalty or a member of the Queen's Court by the way that she was dressed. Kayley knew where the boundaries of the castle was and she was still on a small piece of land between her father's estate and the castle. She stood up seeing two other ladies next to the main woman. Kayley was linked to noblity, but she never dressed like them just a few times in the past. "I know how silly they are. I was a mere child when I dreamt them." Kayley said knowing that she already knew that they weren't coming true. Kayley's voice was strong and soft knowing that she probably had some kind of blood in her from somewhere in her line that made her who she was. She didn't know who she reassembled nor who where in her family line, but she always sided with the good to protect anyone that needed it. Kayley looked at the women,"My mother didn't think so, but I now see that dreaming is something not worth living for. " she said trying to defend her mother, who was now gone from her life forever. "Kayley Porter. The daughter of Lord Arthur, who serves as a commander in the Queen's Army. Lady Vivian is my stepmother." she said introducing herself to the woman in return. She guessed that Maggie would know her father or her stepmother. Kayley looked at the other two, who she never would of guess would of be so quiet. |

Rosalind stood there in silence, her eyes boring past the girl. There was nothing she could think of that would make her speak to this girl. Standing by the gates, practically drooling, it was sickening. It didn't matter that the longing in the girl's eyes might have only been inside her head, to Rosalind it was completely real. If she had been in the girl's shoes, god forbid as that seemed about the most awful of nightmares, she would want to be one of the three as well, or someone like them. Not some common person. "I wouldn't say all dreams - only the obvious ones." Rosalind finally spoke up, stepping alongside Maggie once her lookover of the girl was complete and, as suspected, she came up quite lacking. Not that she was surprised. She could barely stand the presence of most new courtiers, some sad little thing standing at the gates made her want to run inside and bathe to get the common off of her. "Maybe shoot a little lower. Like something more than that donkey you rode up on." In truth, the horse was not that ugly, there was an elegance that all horses had that it shared as it grazed next to the tree but as far as Rosalind could see, it was nothing more than a packmule or else it would be inside the castle gates, not out here. There was a certain hardness to her as she stood with the other two girls, brought on as she proved to herself and the others that she belonged in the company of them. There were certain steps of significance within the kingdom. There were the common folk, there were the nobility, and then there were the nobles that came from historical families and that carried famous names and stories to go along with their titles. Rosalind had no famous name or tale of bravery, all she had was a position that Cinderella had granted to her grandmother and had eventually been passed down to her, leaving her with a constant thirst to prove she was just as, if not better, then her friends. "Ah, well, while we are dropping names," She said, less than amused by the girl as she looked between Maggie and Morrigan. Yes, she had heard of her father and stepmother but if anything, it hurt the girl more than helped her. After all, before they knew they were better than her now that there was a title in her family, they had to prove it. "I am Lady Rosalind D'Errico. This," She motioned towards the other girl, "Is Lady Morrigan Goldilocks of the Goldlilocks. I would like to say its a pleasure to meet you..." She cut off, letting the sentence hang in the air. |

At the sound of her name on her friend’s lips Morrigan’s own lips parted in a terse smile. Her little blonde ringlets that peeked out from the proper hat she wore were an indicator of her noble heritage. She had stock, real stock, in who she was – where some courtiers might have storybook royals in their lines she carried the name and was thankful for Rosalind’s use of it. She knew her friend had used it to prove a point – but that hardly mattered in the grand scheme. “It’s always lovely to meet the daughter of a soldier.” She said quickly with a coy little smile at Rosalind before glancing over at Maggie. She curtsied briefly, if only to show off and prove that she should be a member of the court. It was in times like this – times of show – that Morrigan put it on thick. She might agree with her friends wholly and knew they understood her position but she didn’t have to say it to prove she was better than anyone; unless they gave her reason to. This little wall flower could become that person but for now she’d play nice…clawless. She haves a small gloved hand. “Don’t be modest Rosalind, it isn’t becoming.” She even laughed a little. She glanced back at Kayley and nodded. “Queen Cinderella gave Rosalind’s grandmother her own personal blessing of courtly life – and not only has it been passed down to Rosalind but Queen Cinderella bestowed the same noble blessing on her just last year…the Queen – a ball, all in the name of Rosalind.” Morrigan smiled proudly. It wasn’t always just your name – it was who you knew too. Though the party had been a side effect of the Spring Festival where Rosalind was ushered into the court on that festive day was only a mild side effect of the fact that she was the only royal presented that day. “Tell us little daisy,” it was Morrigan’s pet name with her friends for those that she deemed wallflowers or dreamers or people envious (as they should be) of the higher ranking royals, “besides big hopes and dreams, what brings you up so close to the castle on this very fine day?” |

Kayley stood and listened to the two remaining ladies. One was a bit brighter than the other and she was glad that Rosalind didn't think that dreams weren't bad. She knew that the ones that she dreamt of was when she was like 5 or 6? she didn't really know which age was was, but it was when her mother was still alive. She thought that Rosalind was the better of the two since she was smart and all to her point of view. Even so when she glanced to see that she was admiring her horse. Kayley merely half listened to the other one, but she made sure that she was listening or look like she was listening. When she asked a question Kayley blinked for a moment,"I'm her to visit my father, who owns a estate not far from here. I don't call it a visit I mostly stay away from him, but my Aunt insisted that I come just to make him happy." she said her tone was flat when she mentioned why she was here to begin with. It was true she didn't even wanted to come to see her father. |

There was a piece of straw in Artie's mouth. He chewed on it mindlessly as he rode his meager cart to market. He saw them, the four of them - and he recognized three of them. Court memebers, snobs - old fashioned and haughty; pretentious to boot. He slowed his horse with a click of the reigns and a small chirp of his voice. He immediately hopped down off the cart and strolled over to the group with a passive sort of squint in his eye. He might not have bathed weekly as they probably did, he had years of work in his callused hands and relished in working the land that they sat their fat proud butts on - he was hardly prepared to let them act in such a way from the arena which it was appropriate. Out here the land, the air, the soil was anyone's game and he'd be damned if he'd ride on by and not let them know it somehow. "Howdy there ladies," She said with a smile as he held his hand up to shield his eyes from the sun. "Nice dress Goldie? Must'a cost a fortune and taken half a dozen servants to get it on." He paused to let her relish in what seemed to be a compliment before he went on. "I hear it doesn't take a sailor's Golden Cinderella to take it off." He tipped his head to the side. "You're looking well Rosie, those truffles your ma purchased did ya good...filling you out in the cheeks." He turned finally to Maggie, a taut thin lipped grinn passed his bronzed face and he ran a hand through his honey wheat colored hair. "There simply aren't words for you, except you're lucky you live over here and not under Gretel - she'd have you on the Ginger Bread House List and by now Hood would've gotten you. The Hunt is on and anyone who lives in a ginger bread house is fair game." He said stepping in next to Kayley. The Ginger Bread List was one that had been instated years ago, where Grete insisted that all witches be registered and the lists were posted across the land in all the cities and even the woods so that everyone could know where a witch, wizards, sorcerer or sorceress lived. It was a precautionary measure for her people. "Did the harpies hurt you?" He said loud enough for them to hear before giving her a friendly wink. |

Looking from the ladies to the new arrival and man more like it in which she was relived that it wasn't another member of the court she already had two in her family so it was plenty. She listened to him addressing the ladies as if he didn't even care, but at least he knew them. Kayley looked around trying not to laugh at the comments that he threw at them in the mean time. She knew that ladies like them wore corsets and good knows what else. She did experience it one time and she hated it. Kayley never wanted to wear them again she was a tomboy with a dream for royalty as a child. Something about Ginger Bread turned her attention back to him, who was now right next to her. "No, they didn't." Kayley replied back to him with a friendly smile. She noticed the wink and knew what he meant and so she went along with whatever he wanted to do towards them. Kayley looked from him to the ladies for a reply back to the answer that she told Goldie. |
